A little update on the PrivatePhone issue.  Yes, it is being discontinued as of December 15th.

I would suggest everyone now try one of the following:

www.aimphoneline.com - (problem there is local area codes)
www.k7.net - I signed up for this one but unfortunately you don't get to choose an area code, it just assigned me a number.
www.laserphone.com - I signed up for this one too, but it seems to be just a "call forwarding" service, which doesn't help with using my cell phone, nor will it help with the DoNotCall Registry.

Some offers will kick back when you use a number with an area code that is different from your address area.  It happened to me with the AIMPhone - just an FYI.

If anyone has found any other ones, please update us!!

Hi Everyone, I am new on the board. Looks like a busy forum. I can also recommend AIM as a replacement for PrivatePhone. I was searching for a replacement and got that lead. It was very easy to set up, I got a local number, and was able to check my voice mail right through e-mail. You can't record a personal greeting, but that's okay. It is free, free, free! http://www.aim.com/download.adp Click on the link for Free AIM Phoneline.

When I go to the link it wants me to pick a dollar amount I want to add. Maybe I am looking in the wrong area

It's odd you say that cuz I use k7 for all my offers. I wonder if that is why some of them have not credited?? I used my cell phone here in the begining and that is a different areacode then mine too lol. But in fairness a lot of people have cell phones with a different area code from where they actually live.

also check out brring.com   it does ring to your home phone but........ you get paid for the calls! lol also. anyone who calls has to listen to a 10 seconds message before being connected to you, then to your ringtone before you pick up. so most people other then your friends n wahtnot you give the number to hang up since they don't know if you will answer or not. :) you get a 1.00 for each new caller who calls you and then .05 per call from them after that. also you get 1.00 per referrals. so hey. if your gonna have alot of people calling you check this out. i got mine about a month ago, give the number to all my friends and family. i have it linked to my cell, so you don't even have to use your house phone. but in about 4-5 weeks i'm up to 123.10 that i just cashed out tonight to get my check in time for christmas :)    if not for christmas i think i would of let it keep adding up to see just how high it would get lol. well goodluck guys hope this helps at all :0

I use my regular home phone, which I only use for my DSL. The ringer is turned off all the time, but I can't imagine giving out my cell phone number or a phone that I actually use. Telemarketers are relentless.

I'm not concerned at all. None of my friends have had any problems with this site, and so far, neither have I. Just smile and move on.
