Teachers
« on: February 14, 2021, 12:50:57 pm »
I have heard so many different things said about teachers and the pandemic, my personal opinion is it should be the teacher's decision if she or he wants to go back to the classroom it is there and their families health to consider also. I Don't think they should be forced or threatened{but opinions are like a**holes everyone has one }So please try to be civil when you post

No they do not have to go back to work but they also should not be paid. The rest of the world has to go to work or they don't get paid.  Well not the rest. A whole lot of people are hiding under their bed and mooching off the backs of the working folks.

I guess the same should be said about clerks, nurses, doctors etc. The only thing is if they make that decision then no pay, let someone else earn the paycheck.

It is the teacher's union that is causing the problem about teachers going back to work.

Teachers are totally ready to take care of the kids, but not so much the unions.  :bad:

We live in a small town and our teachers are not very computer savvy so they are trying to learn with our children I have respect for them for all the hard work, I guess what I was trying to say for those that it works for out of homes on the internet should be allowed to continue . And I certainly do not mean for them to not work and get paid.As far as moochers there is always the other side and dont think should be judged unless you know the whole story (just saying)

Then it sounds like they don't need to be teachers. We live in a "computer savvy" world. Kids are learning computer stuff in early grade school. I don't even know how a person could be a teacher in today's world and not know enough about computers to use one. If teachers can't teach the kids what they need to know to be ready for the world then again they do not need to be teachers.

And if you are a moocher and don't want to be judged then get off your butt and get a job. There are jobs every where.  Almost every place in my town is hiring. Nobody wants to work. They want to either sit on their butt and collect welfare or get the unemployment and then collect the extra however much it is now.   So yes people who actually work and have worked thru all of this nonsense have every right to "judge" the ones who sit on their butt and want everything handed to them. Get jobs! (just saying) ::) LOL

It's a lot more complicated then everyone thinks....teachers want to go back, but the issue is that kids can't get the vaccine and kids are more likely to spread it simply because there are so many and they are generally not as conscious about their actions as adults. Teachers don't mind teaching virtually, but the kids just aren't learning the same. A lot of places, in person learning just won't be the same. It's like teaching virtually but with students in the classroom - only those who want to be anyway, and lots of restrictions - 6ft apart, masks, limited movement, etc. I have a lot of respect for doctors and nurses, too, and believe they should be the first to get the vaccine, but teachers face a lot of uncontrollable risk, whereas doctors and nurses have more tools to prepare with than teachers and they aren't dealing with the volume of potential patients at once. I don't think teachers don't want to work, it's just that they prefer to do their work in safest way possible. Who doesn't?

It is a very personal decision because
they do not want to hurt themselves or students.
There are plenty of substitute teachers willing to
take their place.

That's interesting...generally it's the younger students who struggle more with the online learning...

I am not telling you what town I live in. But it is not just my town. It is every where. Maybe you can share what town you live in that nothing is hiring and everything is shut down and you are all still hiding in your house. ::)
It has been all over the news all across the country that companies are hiring every where and no one will work. People are lazy! And they have figured out you can get more money drawing unemployment thanks to the government handouts. Maybe you need to pop that bubble you live in and join the ranks of reality again.

As for your kids that "won't do the work" maybe bust their butt and be the adult.

You are right about one thing the majority of the kids doing the "virtual learning" are failing.

I think that the teachers should go back to school, because only a small percent of the kids are getting sick from the virus, and the issue now is that the lockdown is leading to more depression and suicide amongst the kids...
