Yeah, I was one of those that was manipulated ny the Santa lie. I explained to my son that Santa is much more than a person. He is a spirit of giving out of love for another. And regardless the size or price of a gift, it is the thought and the love that goes into it that carries the most value.

I know I believed for a while, but I don't really remember it...and frankly I wish I did. I love the concept of Santa and I think it is fun for a kid to be able to believe....as long as the parents are enjoying the time with the kids and not using Santa ONLY as a behavior tool, which takes all the fun out of it for the kids.

I was told there was a Santa Claus when I was little. My parents I think would use the story to get us too bed at a decent hour, so they could assemble presents for the morning. One of them would go jingle some bells at the other end of the house and the other would tell us that it was Santa's sleigh bells and we better get to bed or there wouldn't be any more presents under the tree in the morning. Even though I don't believe in Santa, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without him. Everytime I hear jingle bells I get excited because it means it is Christmas time, my favorite time of year.

I totally bought into the Santa thing, probably for longer than most kids. It made Christmas so exciting. I definitely want to give that to my future children.

I never believed I think someone messed it up for me but yeah I would tell my kids that he's real because children need something to believe in. Being that I didn't believe kind of messed up the joy in it for me. Like I said children always need something to believe in whether it teaches them good morals, to behave, etc.

Were you one whose parents told you to behave in order to receive presents on Christmas from Santa Claus? Do you still belief this person exist? How do you feel about someone making you belief this lie was true? Would or did you tell your kids Santa Claus is real and why?

Yes I was one of those kids that was told there was a Santa Claus.  I didn't see anything wrong with it.  I considered it all fun and part of the holiday tradition.  I have also carried on the same traditions with my kids.  My oldest daughter knows its me but even still likes the fun in it. I don't see anything wrong with it.  I play along until my kids ask me, and I don't lie to them.  If they approach me about it, I tell them the truth.  I tell them that I am santa and honestly the first thing they ask is if the presents will stop coming. So I don't think they think about the logistcs of it..they just like the idea and the presents..

It is funny how I believed in Santa Claus when I was young and also knew that the presents under the Christmas tree was from my parents. I never really believed the whole North Pole and flying raindeers (I think). Since our house had no chimney, that was obviously a lie. Thinking about it know, I don't even remember at what age I learnt the truth. Anyway I believe most kids are really more interested in the gift and really don't care if it was from a make believe Santa Claus. I tell my kids about Santa Claus and because it is a fun make believe story, I let them enjoy it.

I dont remember if my parents told me about Santa lie - but I did believe he was real - and I still am because I LOVE Christmas, if no Santa then there is no Christmas, which I will be REALLY REALLY SAD, So I [pretend] believe in Santa just cuz of Xmas.

The traditions of Christmas were around long before the myth of any Santa was formulated.  "Christmas" (albeit going by a different name) was around for a very long time until it was hijacked by Christianity.  There would most certainly be a "Christmas" without the figure of Santa as there was "Christmas" before the figure of Santa.

Christmas is around because of Jesus. We are celebrating his birth. Theres is no santa But there is a God

Santa Claus is not a lie! Read the history books...he really existed and many others followed his steps. Today many play his role as Mr. Santa Claus or Mrs. Santa Claus! Here are some facts: Google: enter Wiki- Santa Claus...open that page and enjoy!

err no, you're quite mistaken and I suggest you read up on the history and origin of the Christmas traditions before making such adamant claims.  It's not difficult to look into; a 5 minute Google of "origin of christmas" will give you the information needed.

Hell I'll do it for you...
