Thoughts on dating apps

Have you or would you ever try a dating app if you were single? I have been single for over a year. I contemplated using an app but I'm kind of iffy about it. What are your thoughts?

I've never used one myself, but my sister met her (now) husband on match.com. I don't know why, but it seems harder to meet people (other than co-workers) once you're an adult. So if I was single, I would probably give it a try.

I only wanted a man that was of my religion (Primitive Baptist) so I can't imagine ever using it.  I found my man in church.

I have a coworker who found her husband on match.com.  I would probably use it, but would be very careful.  Only meeting in public places until I got to know him and trust him.  It’s a shame but you have to be so careful now.

I don't think I would consider using a dating app because you can't be too careful these days.  People can lie about who they are and it could be dangerous.

I am thankful that I never felt the need to use that option (I think I would personally feel a sense of awkwardness doing that), but I would never think or say a negative thing about anyone who found someone truly special that way either. You can find keepers or throw-em-backs anywhere - whether in a bar, in the supermarket, in your church, or online/dating apps. You have to be careful regardless of where you are fishing, so as long as you are careful - why not try an app?

My husband and I met through Match.com. It was something I never thought I would do. One day I just signed up and we met in about a week. No regrets from me.

The only real problem I see is potentially getting cat-fished but if you can video chat to see they are who they say they are, then there is no problem. The app to me just simplifies the whole dating thing.

I have tried Match many many years ago and thought that it has a good matching algorithm.

Dating Apps are the pits.  There is always so many who are just not that  interesting and liars.

I haven't tried online dating in over a decade, I think it's a hit or miss, just depends on what you're looking for and who's available in your area.

Yes, vetting potentials properly and safety is key.  I won't be ready to truly date until after I move so by then i hope to meet someone in person.  I'm not against match though, I've always heard good things, I just hope to not have to go there, don't think I will.
