Working on getting my license after 57 years

So I have practiced driving all summer still struggling with using the mirrors to back up, but I'm gonna attempt to get my learners after all these years any suggestions?

Good luck on getting your license back.  Just relax and be aware of everything around you.  Fortunately I was able to get a new car and it has a back-up camera which makes it a lot easier.

Maybe some day "back up cameras" will be mandatory for all vehicles...because it is a matter of public safety. Or "collision avoidance system" is also an excellent safety feature.

To get your learners permit you have to take the written test which is multiple choice questions that you do on a computer at the DMV. I do not know how long you have to have a learners permit. The DMV can answer that when you take your test. They will give you a hand book to study or you can study online and even take practice tests. Good Luck on getting a Drivers' License.

Look online for help with it they tell you questions theyll ask on the test. My son used that and easily passed. Now actually driving is a whole other thing.

You should be fine if you've been practicing. It's never as bad as you think it will be. Plus I think they give you more than one chance to take it; like three. If so, then just redo it till you pass. Have no fear.

BTW, better late than never, you know. Buena suerte!! (That's "good luck" in espaņol) :clover:

Let us know how it goes.

Are you sure you want to start driving? With your degree of anxiety, I think I would save all the expense of owning a car and just call Uber when you need to go somewhere, then you can relax in the back seat and stay safe.

Good luck!! Definitely a good thing to have the freedom. I would hate to depend on someone else to drive me around. And I wouldn't want to get in a stranger's car (Uber, etc) but that's just me.

Good for you.  My only advice is to use the biggest car/suv to take the driving test as you can.  If you use a big car/suv and pass the test driving everything else is easy.  My niece is going on 30 and she never learned to drive and never wanted to. I have a cousin almost 70 and she never learned either.  Driving is freedom.  Just hop in the car and go anywhere you want.  I don't understand how anyone wouldn't want that if they can.

Good for you.  I got my license at 15.5.  I enjoyed it because we had a good teacher and allowed us to drive where ever we wanted to go.
