Why do you think people either love or hate walmart?

Because they let other people's opinions run their life instead of taking advantage of savings when they can. Sure there are controversies around how they treat employees, but they don't chain any of them up. I can't wait until they open up in my neighborhood and I don't need to drive 30 miles to shop there. They broke ground last month.

I don't shop at Walmart because they pay their employees so little that they're eligible for food stamps and Medi-cal. In other words, my tax dollars are subsidizing Walmart's profits. The "lower prices" bull**** is a scam!

I hear people say things like that, like no one has to work for Walmart. However, if you live in a small town ( like me) they pretty much take over. All of the other small business's can't compete and are closed down. They even have a salon to compete with the local barber. They sell tires which definitely hurt our local garage.

When the other stores are closed, where is there to work? Walmart. The only store in town that is still open to shop at? Walmart. So they get a lot of their money back from the employees also.
Maybe in a large city it makes no difference, but they can devastate a small town.

Here, the minimum wage is just over $7 per hour and that is what they pay because the people here are desperate enough to need it. If you go about 100 miles North to a larger
city ,they start at $11 per hour to do the same work.

I don't like Walmart, but I will admit I shop there sometimes. There simply isn't anywhere else. :(

I absolutely love Walmart. I am from the south originally and that is the only place we shop. I live there!

I absolutley cannot stand going to wal-mart unless its like 2am in the morning when no one is there. I hardly ever go but for them to advertise lower prices is a joke!! I have found several items cheaper at Freds!! I would much rather shop other places.

Wal mart prices are just so-so.  In some cases the prices are a bit lower.  I do much better at other stores that have store promotions and double coupons.  Wal mart has zero store promotions.  It is also odd that you rarely or never find any coupons/rebates on display at walmart.  In many cases you can pay next to nothing for many household goods or groceries at other stores with their promotions.  I rarely buy any groceries/cleaning/grooming items at walmart.  They are pretty good with other hardware/clothes/other departments.

i shop at walmart occasionally but only if i can get there really early in the morning before a lot of people get there. the walmart where i live is always overcrowded, understocked, and the employees are rude and unhelpful. and they are always out of the things i go there for. i honestly prefer target, where most of the things i buy most a only a few cents more than they are at walmart, but thats worth it just to have a cleaner, well-stocked store and helpful employees.

I live about 5 minutes from a WalMart and the only thing I've ever purchased at WalMart are a few Hot Wheels and the REO Speedwagon Christmas cd! Not my favorite place to shop but I'm not a big shopper any way.
