I used to cook the Thanksgiving dinner, but for the past 4 years I am in charge of monitoring football scores. The dinner was a big job, but once you do it a few times you kind of get a routine going. Don't be afraid of the bird! Just use a meat thermometer if your turkey doesn't have a built-in pop out one. Enjoy, the fun is in the preparation!

In response to "how long to cook the turkey".  I've always us the following rule of thumb:
25 minutes per pound at 325 degrees.  Hope this helps.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

 If you put the turkey in the oven ALL NIGHT , at 200 degrees, it will be done and very tender in the morning.

Hey,
Well my family always took turns.  1 year my mom would do thanksgiving, and than my dad would finaaly do it.  My dad would always just put the turkey in the morning time, and that way it would be ready close to dinner time.  Than we would peel white potatoes, open a can of cranberry sauce. He would buy the pumpkin pies, and whatever else.  We would buy the boxed stuffing, and cornbread in the box, and we would have couple cans of corn open.  Thats it i hope you have a happy and safe thanksgiving.

I'm chief cook, but thankfully not the "bottle washer".  I really enjoy it...up early Thanksgiving Day parade on and start cooking.  It's a great day of fun and food!
