Post by: Valerie1979 on November 29, 2009, 11:06:52 am
my son wants a birthday cake for my husband's birthday - my husbands favorite is cheesecake although he doesn't really care which he has.

what is your choice?   traditional birthday cake or a yummy homemade cheesecake?

My last birthday cake was a home made Raspberry Cheese cake. It was super cool and I loved it. I have gotten bored of the store made cakes. Of course they are all pretty n fancy but I feel there's no love in it...:binkybaby:

Honestly, when throwing a part for someone else I always choose something they like, it is their birthday after all.  If your husband loves cheesecake then get him cheesecake!  There is always your birthday or your son's birthday for you guys to have cake.  On my birthday I get to choose what kind of cake I want (last b-day I got a red velvet cake with vanilla frosting, white chocolate shavings on it, and dusted with some red yummy something lol ).  So I say let the birthday person decide!

Cheesecake would be my choice.  Just a slice of Sara Lee is good for me, I am not hard to please.

I love cheese cake!!  8)  If you can, get a small one of them both, or buy what your hubby wants then have you and your son make a homemade cake too!!

Cheesecake since it is his favorite. I would personally pick a cheesecake with strawberries on top over a birthday cake, but if it is to have more fun with then a birthday cake just to decorate

I don't like cheese cake, but since its your husbands birthday and cheese cake is his favorite, that's what you should prepare it for him.

You should make your husband's favorite, even if no one else likes it. After all, it's HIS birthday.

I'm glad you went with the cheesecake since that is what your husband wanted for his birthday.

We have a tradition of baking an angelfood cake and serving it on my husband's family cake stand.  All his family birthday cakes were served on it and since we drew the lucky number to get possession of the cake stand after his mother's passing, we have continued the tradition.

I make cheesecake for my son for his birthday.  He has celiac disease and cannot have wheat.  I think gluten free/wheat free cakes are terrible and he agrees.  I just make a simple cheesecake with fruit topping.

The husband should get what he likes best and wants for his birthday and the son can have cheesecake on his birthday.  My daughter just celebrated her 10 birthday and she choose cheesecake for her birthday cake.  I make two so we would have plenty to go around.

She said her husband wanted cheesecake not the son.

I like the traditional birthday cake WAY more. For me something made by someone else means more than to just go out and buy whatever is needed.

Obviously you have never had a GOOD cheesecake. I hated cheesecake until I had the best. It is a tricky thing to get just right. Most cheesecakes do suck.

I like the traditional birthday cake WAY more. For me something made by someone else means more than to just go out and buy whatever is needed.

Either of them can be homemade. You don't have to buy a cheesecake to have a good one.
