The economy blows :(
-
:sad1:Yes, it horrible. And when so many people are out of work, that just makes it so much worse. I always grow a veggie garden, and I have grapes and fruit trees. I give a lot of it to people who can't afford to buy very much. I hope this year, more people will be able to live better.

I know it that everything food and gas is going up,
really a shame someone won't lower prices.

Coupons can help so much---we make a list of items (by brand) that we know we ALWAYS buy and then find coupons on-line and get anywhere from 5 to 30 coupons for same items and then go buy what we can use (perishable items) and in bulk (non-perishable items). Many times if there's a coupon out---the item is on sale at the store and even if it isn't, it's still a good deal because it's something we would have purchased without the coupon anyway. Coupons usually cut our grocery bill by 50% or more. We spend about a hour a week "couponing" and save enough to make the time definitely worth it. Using coupons like this has made coupons like a source of "tax free" income!!
I could not agree more. It's funny some people complain about high prices of food, but then they also say that they do not have time or it is too much trouble to coupon. I never understood that. The problem is that most or many people have no idea how much they can save using coupons along with store sales!

I get coupons from coupons.com and coupon surfer. Do you have any favorites?

if you think prices are high - wait - by august they will almost have doubled - the average cost per item is presently just under $5.00 - you pickup 20 items times 5 and you will be very close to $100 - if you use 1967 as standard then times by 15 and you would have to spend $1500 to equal the value of 1967 - a car in 1967 was just under $2000 - most cars equivalent price now $30,000 - but salaries also have gone up - 1967 teacher salary $4700 - gas was .27 per gallon now $2.62 average - give you an idea of what inflation will do to you - and people are expected to live on $7000 social security - that is a year not a month - good luck everyone you are going to see what the carter years were like - IMHO >> In My Humble Opinion - The MUSEUM, Zazzle, deviantART, ArtFire, FineArtAmerica

Isn't it strange how the economy is working. The recession is definitely here yet no matter where you shop the price of everything has increased considerably. Coupons do help, but because people can't shop the way they could say 2 years ago the stores make those who do shop pay almost double for everything.

Depending on where you shop, some places are more and some are less.

water costs more than gas

water costs more than gas
Yes, there is a proposal in place that is to increase our water costs by 300%. No that is not a typo.

Don't overlook the Internet, I get my food free.

cost of living is always on the rise, decreasing value of money
-
Yup everything is going up! Sucks!
-
The price of food is rediculous. A person could go broke.
-
Not really. I'm not noticing much of a change in where I live. Gas in at $2.81 per gallon, and food prices are about the same as 5 years ago.
-
Price of food is high or low... its mandatory to buy n eat... so I don bother much on it...

Everything goes up, but pay stays the same and in many ocassions hours are cut out :'(
