i've been watching my calories and i've been losing ounce by ounce, i dont have time to work out or anything and i dont have money to go to the the gym. i may be losing it slowly but i heard slow is better so u dont gain it back.. or gain it back so fast. i'm ok with losing slowly..its not too slow. i'm content with the weight i'm losing right now, i dont want to be unheathy about it. i keep all my meals under 500 calories as i heard someone say to do a while ago. it's been like 4-5 days and i've lost maybe 2 pounds max. i dont want to deprive myself of food u know. i'm not starving myself. i dont think i would be able to handle that.

If it works, keep it up. Just make sure it doesn't impact your overall health in a bad way.
-
Eat when you're hungry and what you're hungry for. This does NOT mean eat whatever you want when you want it. Eat what your BODY tells you you want, when your body tells you you're hungry. There's a huge difference. If you listen to your body, you'll naturally start losing weight without any outside influence. I've lost 50 pounds in the last 2 years, and I haven't gone out of my way for it at all.

The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn while you're resting. So if you want to lose weight quickly, work on building some muscle! One thing I did was to buy a easy to install pull up bar ($15) and put it on my door. One pull up every time you enter and leave a room might not seem like much, but it adds up. You could also do one pushup for every 100 calories you eat. Pretty easy, but again, it adds up. :)

:thumbsup:I lost 148 lbs!! I kept it off now for over 25 years. First, I decided that I could live without sugared drinks. I ate a LOT of veggies, and fruits. I excersized, but I found an excersize that I really like. I metal detect, and go gold prospecting.. Believe me, I didn't get tired of looking for treasures!!! It took me about a year to loose it, but I did it the right way. I didn't starve myself. Also, if you count your age years before every bite you take, you eat slower, and fill up faster.. Say your 30.. well count up to thirty before every bite.. Believe me, you get full really fast that way!!!

You might want to join Sparkpeople ?
It's a community, which can be quite helpful. They have lots of helpful articles and tips. I personally like their recipes list (submitted by members) and calculator, and their notebook for recording what you eat and how much you exercise. They don't have any set "diet plan" either, although you can make one if you want. And they have a little "points" system, if that helps to motivate you.
My sister-in-law has had success with Richard Simmons deal-a-meal. I don't use it myself, but she said after the first week (which she admits was very hard getting used to) she has done very well, and that's with a non-dieting husband and two under five kids (snack time all the time and no time or reduced time for exercise, although great motivators to get healthy for or so she tells me).
You don't need gym membership. Rent some exercise videos, pick up cheap equipment, or just go for a daily walk or jog.
Good luck to you!

Try not eating after 7pm. you gain the most weight overnight. so no late night binging. sometimes I have to remind myself. Do you have any pointers on how i can find higher paying surveys with out having to purchase something? Im new to the place and i could really use some help. please and thank you.
-
I'd have to say that generally the highest paying surveys are the dailies. They take about a half an hour on average to complete, but if you can endure the process of trying again and again until you qualify for one, you can make $1.75 a day. :D

:wave:Yes, I just do the freebies, and it all adds up!!!

Instead of going on a "diet" just start relacing all your junk food with healthy stuff, like 100 calorie bars, oatmeal, etc. fruit, banana'a for breakfast special K, cereals low in calorie intake, salads, jello has a 60 calorie moose out that is fabulous and rich. Don't consider yourself on a diet, just watch what you eat, and the soda pop, is furious, start drinking water if you drink alot of soda, you will see lbs shed in no time.
-
i lost 20 pounds in one year just from not drinking pepsi, i replaced my favorite soda with ice tea without sugar, now that is the only thing that quenches my thirst...but anyways good luck on your weight lost , it sounds like you are doing all the right things..

Well to be honest, dieting is silly. Of course eating right is a give-in, but what everyone really needs is exercise. You may not have much time but you have to make time. Exercise is extremely vital when it comes to losing weight and toning. Not to mention, even if you eat right but never exercise, you will never be tone so you'll just be pudgy no matter what weight you are. So if anything just wake up 30 mins earlier and go for a 10-15 minute jog, or just find some time in your day to go for a walk/jog. When first starting out make sure to not overexert your body since it won't be use to hardcore exercising. You can do many different exercises at home with no equipment needed. Squats, sit ups, etc. These will tone your body.

Lost 20 lbs from Aug 7 to Nov 7 ... Ate an Apple first thing in the morning (after my coffee) on an empty stomach, cut down on Breads and Rices, and had a glass of low fat milk every night (it seems to curb my appetite for snacking) ... other than that I ate most of the same things I always did ... Good Luck !

i`m not a big eater, dont eat any sweet, but steady gaining weight dr said salt intake really messes diet up.lower salt intake ,and walk 10 minutes at brisk pace first week and add 5 minutes a week afterwards it really works and is good for your heart and female organs as well
-
One good tip for dieting is avoid white bread, pasta, sugar, white rice. Try substituting these for whole wheat bread and pasta and brown rice. This is one thing that works for me if I can stick to it. I also walk 5 times a week, between 3 to 4 miles, as long as the weather is not too bad.
-
excellent posts and ideas. another thing to do as well is check your eating by observing what your motive is when you eat...are you bored, having an emotional moment, or eating out of habit? those observations will help you keep the random eating at bay and help keep the weight off as well.
-
frequent exercise & watch what you eat? :)
-
My daughter has been doing quite well by watching what she eats etc. there are blogs on youtube about people and their goals and what have you. Check them out and maybe you can find more info from them. :)
-
have to cut out some of the or most of the starch. count your calories and workout more than what your eating. its hard for the first couple of days but you have to push yourself. especially summer is right around the corner.

one word... ATKINS!! I've done it for about two months eating, truly, like a pig, and lost 8 lbs the first week and then little by little until i lost 20. I should have continued, but trying to see if i would gain it back, i realized i didn't. If i gained 3 lbs for pigging out a weekend, i would start phase 1 for 3 days and i would lose them again. Now I've been eating whatever for months and have not gained the weight. I will soon start it again to loose the 10 lbs i need to loose. Great diet, you eat a lot, lose a lot. Make sure you do your homework first and then try it. I'm a meat lover so I was a happy camper the whole time. Good luck and don't suffer eating little, you're not going to be sticking to it for too long.

Eat less, eat better, pick up an activity.
I picked up airsoft last year. Lost 70 lbs.

In my opinion, you should just watch your diet, and get lots of exercise. When I joined a team at my school, we had to run 3 miles, and do intense calisthenics. I hated it, but I lost about 20 pounds in about one season. Good Luck!
-
I would say watch what you eat, stay away from sugars, exercise regulary, and go walking. Also, drink lots of water and going to the gym is another good thing.
Getting involved in activities, eating more fruit and vegetables, writing down what you eat each day,(something like a food diary) will lead to losing weight successfully.

You say you don't have time to exercise? Are there any stairs at work? Don't take the elevator, take the stairs at least once a day. If you don't have the strength to climb up then only climb down.
Park farther from the door at work and walk in. Park at the end of your driveway instead of in the garage and walk in. Park on the street (if it's safe for your car).
Buy cloth bags for your groceries and pack them as full as possible. Carry one in each hand from the street to your door.
Do you have time to sit and watch tv? Turn it to exercise time. Building muscle does not require heavy weights and hundreds of reps. While sitting watching tv, life your lower leg, slowly, to the height of your knee then put it back down slowly. Repeat 20 times then switch legs. IF you are partially reclined while watching tv then lift your leg to the level of your knee then lift your whole leg higher than the other knee, slowly, then put it back on the floor. Again 20 times and switch legs. Get a soup can and tie it into a plastic grocery bag. Make "handles" and if you have an armchair, hang your elbow just off the arm of the chair and holding the bag with your fingers facing upward lift it slowly to the point where the can touches your arm then slowly back down to full extension of your arm. Do 20 and repeat.
Need help with your back and upper arms? Take ten minutes to do "push aways". Stand facing a wall and extend your arms in front of you. Back up until your fingertips barely touch the wall. Now on your knuckels lean into the wall with your arms at shoulder width. Keep your body rigid and lower your face to the wall and back SLOWLY. Do only three or four at first but build up to 10. Remember do it slowly. Rest between switches of limbs.
If your knees will take it do not bend over to pick stuff up from the floor, do a deep knee bend for it.
With a little observation of your day, you can create exercises for yourself out of your daily routine.
Congrats on the watching what you eat and good luck. Changing from "normal" food to "healthy" food will help you maintain the weight you want, too. And the gallon of pure water every day is essential but once you get your body accustomed to taking in that much fluid, you can open it up to your total fluid intake. Just remember that coffee and tea are diuretics. They make you loose water so keep them to a minimum. Avoid carbonated water as much as possible, it causes throat cancer. And remember if you have a craving for something you normally wouldn't have on your diet, go ahead and eat it, in a reasonable proportion. Do not ever deny yourself a comfort food just don't make a habit of it or eat too much at once. IF you have a deep craving for ice cream, a single dip cone is not going to kill you. Especially if you walk to the ice cream store to get it!

You need to burn off 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound of weight. if you are eating 500 calories less that you need than you can lose 1 pound per week in addition to whatever exercise you can do even ifs it just walkin. Even household chorse burn calorie. I can burn about 60 calories i 20 minutes just washing dishes.

Find a registered Dietitian -- they are the experts at this!

try to count your calories and try to stay off the carbs. exercise exercise
-
One thing you should do is to keep track of everything you are eating and the calories you are gaining. Keeping track of calories helps me decide if I should eat the snack or not lol
-
im vegeterian and i can tell that im in the same weight that i was when i was 15
-
yep, don't eat that gets the job done every time - look at all the dead people - they don't have a weight problem - serious - know how much you eat - it isn't so much what you eat but how much - we count calories - our weight goes up - eat a little less - weight goes down - eat a little more - never deny yourself - but control yourself - yesterday chinese noodles and ice cream 1500 calories plus - today boca burger and ff 875 calories (thats breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack for the day)

Diets don't really work. Life style changes do because if you're on a diet, you'll tend to give up. I am currently 5'4'' and 109lbs and a size 1. I drink six bottles of water daily (it works wonders on your skin). Most people make the mistake of thinking they're hungry when it is just dehydration. An average healthy adult should be drinking eight glasses of water a day but i think thats a little overboard. and then throw in fruits and vegetables. It is really hard at first to drink THAT much water but after the second or third day, you'll get used to it and start actually getting thirsty without it. But also remember that there has to be a balance of diet AND exercise. You can't just depend on diet alone. Good luck(:
-
I drink unsweetened coffee or tea instead of snacking. I also brush my teeth when I'm done with a meal, to keep myself from nibbling afterward.
-
The thing that helped me the most was to change to a low fat diet. We bake or roast almost everything. I eat a lot more fruits and vegetables. I gave up soda and started drinking water flavored with crystal lite. I ate as much as I wanted because I at don't do well with being hungry. I also started exercising more with going for walks and going biking and even going fishing. I also have some favorite exercise videos that I work out with periodically.
Good luck.

I have been yoyo dieting for most of my adult life (never lost the baby belly from 17 years ago). I finally figured out the secret!!! It is all in what you set your mind to. If you are determined to lose weight, you must schedule time for exercise and you must watch portion sizes along with avoiding fast foods, and everything 'white'. Finally drink lots of water! I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months, feel better than ever and have accomplished this while I quit smoking. Which all smokers out there know how hard that can be, and still lost weight. YAHOO ME! ;D :o I repeat...it is all in what you set your mind to!

I have tried everything. I am very limited in all I can do. I used to be such an active person. I loved to run. But since I got hit by a car while walking, I cannot do the things I used to like jump rope, run, etc. It really takes alot out of you, so now I have gained more than I am used to. But I got an excercise bike, it is good to get some extra calories off. Also just choosing for healthier things when you eat, find something that you really like that is little calories and try to fill up on it at least once a day, then if you are still hungry snack on the other things.

The biggest problem a lot of people have, that I've noticed, is that they 'eat with their eyes'. I don't know if that's an actual phrase in English but it is in Spanish. It means they serve themselves big portions because they see it, they want it and then stuff themselves with it. I take a smaller portion, about more than half a meal but definitely less than 'so full I can't breathe', I take a small plateful then see how it goes when I'm done with that. Eat slowly,(chew well) don't rush the meal and drink 100% juices or water with it. I don't like drinking soda but I'll have one once in a while, don't cut out snacks completely, just limit them more. I've found that instead of thinking of it as exercise just bringing it into your daily life works better. Park farther away, take the stairs, walk around more than driving around...I actually lift a small weight that I keep next to my computer while my computer loads things or I'm reading articles. I do stretches whenever the feeling hits, whether I'm in the middle of getting something out of the fridge or just finished washing&drying my hands in the bathroom lol. I drink a lot of water, about 2 cups every time I do and keep a water bottle at the ready. In the summers it gets a little bland so I just put a small amount of the powder juice mix in to shake things up. I'm also a vegetarian and even though I didn't do it to 'diet', I've heard it helps a lot of people. Just as long as you get all your vitamins and nutrients; not everything has to be soy-based. As I'm typing this, I'm noticing how it makes me look so healthy! I do eat junk food, I can eat a whole bag of popcorn by myself, but I don't binge on it often. Lately I've been substituting things for healthier versions and leaving the snacking for before lunch and after dinner. :)

actually confusing your body is one of them best things. Try cutting down calories in one meal and adding them to another. Your body gets so used to what you are doing that weight lose is slowed down. If you can get a pedometer get one. Aim for more steps per day. they say healthier people walk about 10,000 steps a day.

Eat Alkaline foods. No matter how little you eat, or how much you work out, the most effective way to lose weight is to maintain a slightly alkaline pH level in your body. The best part is that once you have a healthy pH level (~7.45) your body will burn calories much more efficiently than an acidic body.
