Ok, so the rumor is some of the hottest social networking sites are wanting to charge a fee. Give me your feedback.
-
that is absolutely ridiculous.
-
That is not cool. But if so, then majority of students will not use FB anymore --> focus more on study ---> hahah that's one solution.
-
no. not at all

no

Absolutely not. They will lose alot of users that way in this economy
-
Yes, I think they should charge people that way sites like peoplestring and sokule can get more members.
-
If they do it's a bunch of :bs: in my opinion....We are making THEM money.
-
that's like saying - should you have to pay to use the internet - the internet was a free gift - no government has the right to charge for it - they can charge to get to the internet - but like air the internet is free - when governments make the internet a utility - then no rights are safe - get in line for 1984 only a few years late - IMHO >> In My Humble Opinion - The MUSEUM, Zazzle, deviantART, ArtFire, FineArtAmerica

How does facebook make money anyway? I do not remember seeing any ads. I am on facebook a little bit, but do not know much about it or spend hours there. I could see them charging money, but $14.00 per month is out of line. A lower amount could be reasonable.
-
Facebook doesn't charge, YET. I've read that they're going to start trying to charge later this year. If that is the case, I probably won't be using it anymore. I understand they want to milk it for everything they can but just getting the hits they get everyday makes them rich. If they start charging I have a feeling many will boycott the website. Why the heck should I pay when I didn't have to and can just find another FREE networking site?

Facebook gets paid. I can't say I am a pro at understanding how they do it but with all the ads they have on their site I know they get paid to put those ads on there. I am sure they get paid when people click them, sign up for them, etc.
I am sure they get paid in other ways as well but since I'm not too familiar with it..Idk.
-
No way it should be free, Why should you be charged to talk to your friends and make new friends? It would just not be right
-
that is absolutely ridiculous.
what hey says.
-
I think its too funny charging users they make a lot of money from those users just because they have them, if they don't have those users they will lose because no one would advertise with them, I think they should give users money to stay active with them
-
I think it should stay free. I mean the reason people join these social networking sites is because its free.
And if they start charging their users, then they will all just find another free social website to join and make that one popular.
-
umm.... yeah like sure they would be STUPID to charge for their social site that is SO popular.... They are making money they are just trying to get greedy!!!! My true answer is NO they should not charge for membership
-
Who cares? Certainly not me. The real truth is you already pay by reading ads just like you do here, only here the money goes to us.
-
Nooooooooooooooo

If facebook charged a fee for use of their service I would definitely boycott the site. I think it's ridiculous to charge people. Facebook would not be worth a fee in my opinion anyways, half the time their apps don't work and the site has a host of viruses floating around just waiting to infect your computer. :angry7:
-
No. People spread rumors very often about facebook shutting down unless you join this group or about government legislation or about getting free things if you join and invite in order to make you join their group or email a bunch of other people. So be skeptical of the groups that are out there.
Facebook would not make you pay for services. There is plenty of competition in the social networking industry that people would happily start using MYSPACE or one of the many other sites instead of facebook.
Facebook gets its money because it is so extremely popular that it is a PERFECT place for businesses to advertise and inform potential customers about their products. So Facebook gets its money from advertisements and sponsorships - hence, decreasing demand by charging customers would decrease their profits.
-
Thats Crazy....I Dont think They Should
-
no, I don't think we sould have to pay for those. look what happened to MSN Chat. they started to charge for that service and it soon closed down for lack of use.and that can happed to facebook and twitter and youtube
-
I don't think so :angry7: that will be the end of those sites.
-
i agree, if they decide to charge alot of people would not use the site
-
Uhhh NO. I'm pretty sure most people would definitely not sign up for these things if you had to pay for them. I know I wouldn't.
-
Personally I would love to pay money for a free service. Who wouldn't?
-
No way! they shouldnt be charging ANYONE for it! thats stupid! i know for a fact that if they do start charging... im not going to pay for it! i dont care if its my only link back home that doesnt cost me an arm an a leg (long distance phone calls).... im not paying for something that is free right now! totally not worth it!
-
no way alot of people would stop using it
-
I do not think that we should have to. the guy that came up with facebook is a millionare right now so it is not like he needs any more money. So just leave it be free is what I am saying,
-
No.
-
I don't see why.
I'm sure they can sell enough adspace to generate revenue,
with so many users.
-
They make millions off us already, I don't think they should charge for membership.
-
Facebook says that it's free and always will be.
It's just a rumor.
They know that it's against their interest because if one of them decides to charge a fee then everyone on their website will leave and go to another social networking site. Then the fees they collect from users won't make up for the lost money in ads and sponsors and such.
-
yeah that has been going around a while even heard it for Myspace before Facebook was getting popular. Neither sites should be charged to use, they all need to be free.
-
Well the big wigs been trying to push this rumor to real life , its so tacky but true that money can kill any relationship , and almost to nothing is free in this world , if they do that whole week guranteed they'll be no users on those sites lol they're already considering "interent tax" (ring finger's neighbor)
-
If they start charging fees, I'm out of there!
-
Well they would lose my business. I would have to thank them if they did it though. I never liked these sites anyway and have been looking for an excuse to quit. If I want to talk to someone I will do it in Real life and if I want to play a game I will buy it.
-
not at all
-
Hell No!...That's absolutely ridiculous. I heard earlier last year they were gonna start charging people to use FaceBook right about this time, but I see they never did. And charge people for what exactly?! They're not providing any real services or whatever!
-
No facebook should not charge, the place I work has ads on their, that is reason we are aloud to look at on our breaks.
-
this is crazy u already have to pay to do certain things on facebook as it is. If im ever charged for doing something just to past the time id probably cancel all my online socializing
-
that is a terrible idea, the coin thing on facebook is definetly a dumb idea in the first place
