You know! I`m for helping other people and other countries and all. But, where do we draw the line? This country is in a total mess. The economy is down again and again. The unemployment rate is still to high.Health insurance is an issue. Also!! What about all the homeless? I do not want to sound like I`m un-American or ungreatful! but,!! Hell! I`ve been homeless and hungry before, and let me tell you it STINKS!!..I`m a Vet and the Government cut alot of programs out for Vets, due to the lack of resources.Many people are becoming out of work including myself.Due to the fact they`re sending assembly and production work to other countries, or they are bringing people from other countries to work those jobs for less money.Many people are losing their homes due to foreclosure or going bankrupt! What happens? People are renting apartments more and more. Their pets usually end up in animal shelters or worse, because, they cannot take (Spot or Tiger) w/them. I know I sound angry but this has to stop! With the way criminals are being let out of prison early to offend again! its has to stop. I could go on and on.Sorry about this post. I do not mean to offend anyone, but I had to Vent a little!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :BangHead:

I AM ALL FOR HELPING AMERICA, BUT PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO HELP THEMSELVES ALSO. ALL THESE WELFARE PROGRAMS WE HAVE NEED TO BE FOR PEOPLE WHO ABSOLUTELY NEED IT.

yeah right on!! our country needs help too. i didnt donate to haiti..sorry. frankly i need all the money i can get. my man is unemployed. i'm working part time and helping my mom with her home daycare and i get paid for that every week, but i know the money is gonna run out some time so i need to save what i can for my own benefit. sorry for the other people, its just how it works here nowadays. we suck now.. yeah we do. the economy sucks.. we have no jobs and people expect to get money for haiti. i am very sorry haiti had an earthquake etc but we have earthquakes too. i hate my job and i wanna quit but it's only temp so i only have a limited of time there for now until i can find another one ..whenever that happens. its could be 10 months before i find another one like the last time i was fired/laid off.

I definitely agree with what's being said. They made a big deal about helping Haiti, a million ways to donate. Even Facebook games had donation systems! But everyone is ignorant of the state of our own country. If you have $$ to donate send it to something that will help your own country.

I agree also they cut cut cut everything here.,but theres always money to give other country's I dont mind helping others but ya gotta help your own first. With Haiti i guess the U.S.A. should take the lead role because its in the region. Other places in the world like Chili or Idonesia Should not be dependant on the U.S. for help South American countries can take care of Chili. China should support thier region. I never hear of the oil rich country's helping anybody, Im sure they do but you never hear about it. I'd like to see a list of country's that do help out and amount they kick in. not including what individuals donate.

I enjoy this very much THANKS for all the support of our fellow countrymen! Of course our country tries to help EVERY country but our own! That is TOTALLY MESSED UP!!!!

I totally agree with you guys...we should help our country first!!! I know there are programs in the US to help poor people but there are still people that are homeless so why r the program getting people off the streets?

i feel pretty much the same as everyone here. don't get me wrong-i am the type of person that is willing to help others in need. but frankly, in this time we are living in-- i am someone in need too. i am a compassionate person. when the hurricane hit new orleans, i was shocked and appalled by the actions of the president. not to mention the mayor of new orleans. the goverment as a whole simply left an entire city to die. now, that haiti has been hit and most recently chile- i wonder this-- where was the help for our people? i saw fundraisers for new orleans on tv shortly after the storm hit. i even went to new orleans to give provisions of my own-- but not to the extent of haiti and chile. it seemed as though every night people were asking for money for these countries. where was the help for our people here in the US? this doesn't even begin to uncover the problems we have on a dailiy basis of hunger and homlessness. that is a whole other can of worms. although i do help when i can-- i still stick to the golden rule that my mother always said to me-- charity starts at home.

I think that America send other people to help other countries, and I believe that all this tends to deal with the root issues. WHy are we sending ppl to stop abortion in other countries, when america itself cant stop it here. I know America is a free country, but it looks hyprocritical the things we are doing.

If we help each other among all the countries in the world, the world would have less and less tears

I think we help too many other countries. Americans (legal ones) need help too. I am going social security in a few months and I am shocked at what they want to take away from older americans on medicare. Its like do I eat or get my meds! Costs are going up...when utilities need money they raise the rates, groceries cost twice than 2 yrs ago. People on fixed incomes don't have the EXTRA money to pay for increased, taxes, food, meds, utilities, gasoline. We need to say to the bid wigs, sorry I can't your increase in taxes until I get an increase in social security

I agree as well, I hate when after we help them everyone is still all I hate America sooo much. Why take our help if you hate us?

My husband and I talk about this a lot. We need to help those in need in our country first. It's great that we want to help everyone, but we can't do that if we can't take care of ourselves. All these celebrities are raising money for other countries and donating, but you never see them donate to America.

I AM ALL FOR THIS ONE^. TOTALY AGREE. I MEAN YOU DONT SEE OTHER COUNTRIES HELP'N US AS MUCH AS WE HELP THEM. AND AMERICA IS IN ROUGH SHAPE THESE DAYS. MANY PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ARE HOMELESS. HAVE NO JOBS DUE TO POOR ECONOMY!! AND ARE LOSING THERE HOUSINGS. I SAY WE HELP AMERICA FIRST ....PUT AMERICA FIRST! I'M ALL FOR PEACE WITH THE WHOLE WORLD N STUFF :icon_rr: :peace: :heart:BUT THE FACT IS THAT AMERICA NEEDS TO STAND UP AND DRAW THAT LINE. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE CHILDREN HERE WHOM NEED SHELTER AND FOOD. ? WE ARE HELPING OTHER COUNTRIES WHEN WE COULD BE HELPING OUR OWN AND BRINGING AMERICA BACK TO RISING TIMBERS.

I agree, America does need help, and the government should concentrate on its own citizens before helping other countries. Some charity for poor countries who get hit by disasters like Haiti is Okay, but there are so many people who need help right in our own country. The government should do more for veterans, who put their lives on the line to make this country great. And old people, who worked hard all their lives and paid into the system, are often overlooked also.But more government handouts for younger, lazy people who don't like to work, like welfare, do not really help this country. That only hurts the working people more, because we get taxed to death. What we need to help the economy is more jobs, and less taxes. If we cut out welfare, and make all the lazy people get jobs, then our taxes will go down, which in turn will increase spending and thus make the economy grow stronger.

The govt thinks other countries comes first, so on the next election vote them out of office.

Sorry, it just reminded me of part of this quote by George Carlin.
But I agree 100% with you. America needs all the help we can get, and yet so many people are quick to help other countries before their own. Yeah, its nice to help everyone in the world, but when your own country is struggling and you ignore it and help another country first, something is wrong.

I totally agree! I'm soooo broke, I'm living off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, my rent is well over-due, and I owe my parents money for bailing me out of these situations several times!! It's like, any time there is a crisis some where else in the world, our country is the first one to be on top of it, helping the people in need. That's a great thing to do and all, but we have our own crisis to worry about: the economy. I'm lucky to have a job, but what sucks is when it's sooo slow that I'm let go early and then I lose a couple hours of pay. Meanwhile, I have no health insurance, so I can't afford to get sick. I'm in school, busting my butt trying to get a degree so I can get a better paying job, but in the meantime, I need some help from my country that I love and support! Ok, so I vented too, and let me tell you, it feels good! :star: :star: :star:

I totally agree with you. Many of those on welfare take major advantage of the programs (I've seen it happen myself.) This is very unfair to the ones that truly need it, and are working their rears off trying their best to make it.

Definitely! That has bothered me for quite awhile about these certain celebrities. I realize it's their money (in my opinion they are overpaid), but to knowingly be "ambassadors" to other countries, etc., and to bypass the U.S. needs of American people get my goat. Albeit, I do have to give some credit to a couple of celebs. that pitched in to help after Hurricane Katrina. But, that doesn't help the credibility of most celebs., in my eyes, anyway! Come to think of it, I've seen more country singers helping out in our own country/our troops than the others!

The only help the American people is going to get is all talk from the govt. All other countries come first. That's why were in the biggest recession in history. On the next election we have to vote them pork spending IDIOTS out office.
