Title: US Census should look at the calendar!
Post by: lucky382001 on March 23, 2010, 10:53:51 am
Yesterday March 22 I received a card from the census in the mail. It stated that the census was mailed out a week ago and that it is required by law to fill out and send in. It also thanked everyone that already has done so.

Why would the Census be thanking people for sending in their census early when it is used to count people on April 1 2010 when it is not that date yet? Seems that would cause an invalid count to be made. I know what generally occurs in my household but since I am not pyschic I can't fill out a census form today and absolutely be sure I may not have someone else in my household on that date. I wouldn't have expected to see that card until at least April 2.

Has anyone else received a card from the Census? And Did you already send your Census report out?

i did receive the post card but I have completed my form about 2 weeks ago and mailed it back.
if you didn't receive your census form I would check with your local post office and see if they have been delivered in your area --- if they have you need to get your hands on yours!

It's not a perfect system. I guarantee no one is moving in or out of my house this month.

I noticed the same thing and couldn't agree more. They sent me a post card also so I'm sure they were expecting it back before April 1. I could wind up in jail, in a nursing home or deceased before then so how can honestly answer this. Is this some kind of April fools joke? Where do they find the people who make up these questionaires. I can't believe they didn't realize this.  :dontknow:

:peace: i got mine too, filled it out and returned. The thing is that official census starts on April 1, so that is why they dated the form April 1 st  ;D can't tell what will happen by then but ohh well, they didn't count me last year or the year before that. It is just an estimate that they will have. Remember what the Census is for?  :binkybaby: The government goes by that in order to help your community.
