DAMN YOU ALL!!!
Lawl jk. Actually the thread title is the name of a famous writing of one of my favorite (fake-named) authors- Mark Twain. I'm sure most of us are familiar with atleast one of his works, but in college I practically worshipped this guy and I still feel I do time to time. His history is so fascinating and gutsy that whenever I think deeply into his stories, I always point to one that was a sort of enlightenment in my mind. If I remember correctly, he wrote this a bit after his daughter died so he was very depressed. The only reason I share this with you is because I notice there are too many arguments on such topics of religion, evolution, morals, etc. and we seem to keep spiralling in circles in many cases. I thought this writing would bash us all down a peg as the whole context of the writing is to show that we are the inferior species on this planet when it comes to placing labels such as "higher animals" on ourselves. It's as funny as it is pessimistic. So be a little humble and check it out--

(it's a short read and it is totally worth it!)

We had to read that in the college English class I took. It is a very powerful piece of literature that I feel is full of truth.

Good read...and quite appropriate considering the directions the forums have been taking lately.

Good one, Falconer. I love some S.L. Clemens myself, always have. The "Patriot and the Religious Animal", ah yes.

Yeah! I had a similar happening-- we all read a story by him in a Literature class and I decided to research him a bit more in my spare time and I just realized what an amazing person he was.

He's one of those people that if you were asked "What one person would you want to talk to in all of mankinds history?"...he'd be on my short list of possible choices.
Thanks for checking it out. I hope more do.

Oh, on my short list too. I actually have a list written down from years ago along the line of who would you like to 'have dinner with, spend a week with' that has been ammended a couple times, but his name will never come off. 8) As soon as I saw your thread title he came to mind and of course I had to check it out. I haven't read that in many moons, thanks!

:( It all started when people did not want to obey the Ten Commandments and any other laws and rules.
