I think that Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving is too early. I went thru Babies R' Us 1 day last week and they had a Christmas song playing. And driving to pick up my daughter, I saw a house with decorations. Sheesh!

Most people I know decorate after Thanksgiving for Christmas.  I try to do it close to christmas, so I dont have to have it up long.  Im not a scrooge or anything, It's just that I lost a son 3 yrs ago and Christmas holidays are very hard on me. :sad1:

Anytime before Thanksgiving is way too early for Christmas decorations. I work at Fred Meyer and they already put out Christmas items on November 1st. It just ruins my mood/attitude for Christmas when I see people decorate their place for Christmas so early.

I think too early would be anytime before Thanksgiving.  I just feel like life is already too short and it's already rushed by our busy daily routines.  So why rush the holidays?

I say anytime before thanksgiving is way too early to decorate for christmas. The best time to start decorating should be on the first of December, or some people just start the day after thanksgiving. When some people decorate they go all out on the lights, and etc; and they tend to forget the true meaning of christmas. I Love to see christmas decorations; they are so pretty, but when someone puts them up to quick they be in the christmas spirit so much early.

i like the idea of decorating the day after thanksgiving.
i feel like thanksgiving is overshadowed these days.
i definitely feel like thanksgiving gives closure to fall
and i'm much more ready for christmas right after that!

there's nothing wrong with you decorating early, though.
to each his own  i thought about decorating
now, but thought i'd give my fiance a break. poor guy
helped me load up all the halloween stuff just the other
day for the basement... hehe.

I am one of those people who says that it is never too early to decorate for Christmas. Decorate whenever you think it is time

I always put Christmas tree up right after Thanksgiving.   But it gets old by the time I take it down.  Enjoy it when the grandkids come over.

It's always been a family tradition to put up the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving.  The rest of the decorations can be put up later on, but the tree is always up by the first Sunday evening after Thanksgiving.  My mom's allergic to many of the oils in conifers, so we've always used a fake tree, and it's the younger childrens' job to put up the tree (except for the top).  And she can't touch a fake tree until it's been used a couple years, since they spray them with small amounts of pine oil (for realism).  ::)

It would seem strange to me to put it up any earlier, since I think people should celebrate Thanksgiving before worrying about Christmas decorating, but to each his own.

My girls & I put ours up last weekend. My thoughts are if you have children its never too early. I love the look on their faces every time they see the tree, while decorating and just the moments in between. Something to cherish forever.

It's always been the family tradition to pull out everything on Thanksgiving night and start setting up the next day.

Too early is before Thanksgiving. I think if you really want to decorate, put up some Thanksgiving decorations...if you don't do Thanksgiving, up out some Autumn/Fall decorations.

I really don't like that most stores already have Christmas stuff out and Christmas music playing. I get sick of the music before December and it makes it really difficult to do some last minute shopping when I can't stand to walk into the mall lol

DevinNMcCraw their is nothing wrong with decorating early if it gives your mother extra joy. Hope mom gets to feeling better soon.  I decorate when i'm off for the last 17 years have worked rotating schedule, so I do decorate when the mood strikes me.

To be safe, I wait until after Thanksgiving.  Or at least until the first snow fall.

Up here in MN many of my neighbors start putting up the lights outside towards the end of Oct. while the weather is still warm enough not to need heavy gloves (some even just leave the lights up year-round). They usually don't turn on the lights until into Dec., and the indoor decorations go up after Thanksgiving or even in Dec. Although this year it's been pretty mild so I think everyone is waiting till after Thanksgiving (if possible).

LMAO...my husband and I were just talking about this because our neighbor put her decorations up already!  Don't get me wrong...Christmas is one of my FAVORITE holidays and I LOVE to decorate for it...but before Thanksgiving is too early in my opinion...but that is the best part of this world...you are FREE to do whatever you want!!!  We have a tradition...after Thanksgiving Dinner (and a good rest) we start putting up some small decorations...and continue the rest through the week...

It is never too early!
Since we don't celebrate Thanksgiving I put them up that day.

I know some that put them up the day after halloween.

I think after Thanksgiving is the standard unwritten rule. Unless you're a store, then basically before we even hit Halloween you start to see Christmas Decorations. My sister's birthday is in early December and when we were kids, we had to wait until after that...now that was hard!  ;)

Hello, it's funny because it reminds me of my home country. We usually start decorating for Christmas on the month with BER! so September we start putting Christmas tree and some Christmas stuff and when I got here I was so excited and I told my hubby, hey lets decorate for Christmas. He looks at me funny and said how about after the Thanksgiving? And I was sad and start telling him how I grew up doing like that and just suddenly stopped when I got here. (I did not know how important Thanksgiving and since he explained it to me then I understand.) and sometime in October he went to the garage and start grabbing the Christmas stuff and he told me, hey how about lets put them on today??? lol I was so excited and happy and I told him how about the Thanksgiving? then he said, it's okay..Next year we will put the Christmas tree after Thanksgiving ;)

Just sharing guys  :peace:  :peace:  :peace:

I love Thanksgiving day!!!! I love the turkey and pumpkin pie  yummy

If my family decorates for Christmas we usually do it right after Thanksgiving. However, there are a lot of my friends and family that already have all their decorations up. I am also seeing more light displays outside of houses now too, I think that is beacause the weather has been nice so they want to get them up. But for the past several years my family hasn't decorated

I decorate my house for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all at the same time.

I have zombie turkeys with Santa hats, carved pumpkins with Christmas designs, a Santa with a Halloween mask holding an old fashion turkey hunting gun, ghosts holding presents, and many other whacky ideas. Around the front of my house, I have a huge sign that says "MERRY THANKSGIVOWEEN".

Nah, just kidding. But that would be pretty cool.  :P

I love this season. I'm particularly fond of all the lights, there's just something about it all. Something special in the air. Plus, it's about the only time when people are more likely to act less like jerks & be more kind to their fellow man.... which is sad really, people should be more courteous year round.
I just put up some lights today while it was nicer out (the weather has been predicted to become more brutal next week), nothing wrong with doing the decoration process before Thanksgiving. Some people do a little at a time throughout November.

I DON'T THINK IT IS EVERY TO EARLY TO PUT UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE. I LIKE PUTTING IT UP EARLY IN ORDER THAT I CAN ENJOY IT THROUGH THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS. THEN BY JANUARY 2 I AM READY TO TAKE IT DOWN.

then you have to decorate for Thanksgiving, then christmas as soon as thanksgiving is done.
