Aside from full-time or part-time employment, what are some of the odd jobs that you do on the side to generate some extra cash?
With regards to me, I've signed myself up at countless market panels, and programmes like FC. The problem is trying to find variation in the offers given, as most of them are the same, and apart of a larger marketing company.
Much more lucrative than online, are real-life focus groups that pay you around $50-75 an hour for your time. I look for them on Craigslist and Kijiji and contact the person who's running them, and they call you and ask you a few screening questions to see if you're eligible.
In addition, I'm also signed up with a legitimate mystery shopping company, and I absolutely love it. Going on missions makes me feel like a secret agent. I've been paid $20 to conduct an "interview" with an employee, as well as $10 for a five-minute phone call. And unlike bogus mystery shopping companies (*cough* Shadow Shopper *cough*) , they never ask you to cash in a cheque for them. Actually, they explicitly state that in the policy on their website.
Outside of the realm of marketing companies, I partake in karaoke contests that offer large sums of cash, and I do busking on the street. Vocals and acoustic guitar.
Who's next?
(Forgot to mention that I used to gamble online quite frequently. I made huuuge sums of money but eh... let's just say I'm done with it now. ;D)

I babysit and do quite well at it. Pays some bills. I do online work, like writing articles, and doing tasks for some web sites. That pays a couple bills also. Then I make a couple phone calls a month and depending on the order they place, I can pay the mortgage or a car payment.

i sign up on websites like this one and make money by posting in forums, clicking on ads etc

You know, I've always wanted to write articles. Are there any public, communal blogs on which you can do that? Or do you have to send in an application or something? I'm thinking along the lines of 'about.com'.

I've done some mystery shopping as well...in fact, I'm scheduled to do one this coming Thursday lol I haven't done one in a few weeks, but this is one I've done before so it'll be easy money (and snacks).

how did u get into that? i would love to do that as well. I make diaper cakes, wreaths, etc. to make a little money and I sell my kids stuff thru consignment when they outgrow it. anything u have to do to make a little extra.

I take all the stuff my friends and family are going to throw away and sell them at flea markets. Can usually clear $150 on a nice spring or fall day. Since I am usually taking things that people don't want they are usually happy to get rid of them. It doesn't cost me anything but time and a few bucks to rent the space at the flea market.

Apart from FC, ive just started getting into making bracelets and pendants... so far ive done pretty well at it. Im doing my first craft sale this weekend at one of the local high schools so ill know just how well i do

At the moment, I'm only doing Fusion Cash, and the usual searching for bucks on swag bucks. I would also love to do some mystery shopping, but I can never find a legit site to get into it.
-
Too bad. I'm on a legitimate Canadian site called 'Lanla', but it's only open to Canadian residents. Whatever you do do not sign up with ShadowShopper! I don't care if I'm slandering them, it's a *bleep* scam.
-
Survey sites like fusion. I also do mystery shopping and I love it! I have been doing both for 8 years already!! Good luck finding new ways!
-
I babysit, pet sit, house sit, and use fusion cash. Now that the holidays are rapidly approaching, the babysitting jobs will be alot more frequent and tend to pay more.

Molly, let me say that I perfectly empathise with what you're going through. I had a craniotomy operation at the end of June, and not only spent the entire summer recuperating, but I'm still in recovery mode. I'm anxious to get back on my feet, but it takes a lot of time and patience. Hang in there!

rake leaves, plow driveways, help out at stores. It actually makes a cool workout and sometimes I do it for free :icon_rr:
-
Mostly I clip coupons. I get them from the newspaper and online. I try to match up store coupons with manufacturer's coupons. I wish we had double or triple coupons at stores. I have saved 50% on my grocery bill quite a few times and come close most of the time. If I took my weekly coupon savings and put them in a special account, I would have a nice chunk of money by the end of the year.
-
i do alot of things online it keeps on growing which i love :) from a side job i do is photoshop designs and the company pays me good amounts every week... im loving it ^^
-
To Loft and Mollydog75....good luck on the healing process. It does take a long time to recover from brain surgery. I wish you all well.

That is exactly what I had done :notworthy:
The headaches incredible.
Thanks for your reply

Here are a few LEGITIMATE secret shopper sites for you guys to check out. I use all of them and have not been disappointed. Just know that most secret shops aren't big money makers but for the little bit of time it takes to actually do them, you can fit in a few each day and it's not too bad for extra $$$
*Corporate Research International
*Market Force Research
*Sassie Shops
Also, if you like doing the surveys, sign up with SurveySpot (usually have a link on FCs Paid to Click page). You get points for every survey you take- anywhere from 50- 2500 which you can cash out to your PayPal as soon as you hit 1000 ($10) I've made about $150 with them.
-
Make crafts and sell at craft fairs..or word of mouth.

Where do youfind all of the surveys to make the money? I can't find any help!! :'(

Were we live, we don't get the greatest cell phone service and our home phone does not have long distance. I picked up Skype and for $2.99 a month I can dial out on my smart phone while at home. I know this does not make money but it does save me about $15 bucks a month by not having long distance on my home number.
-
Basically I do this and mystery shopping. I did a eyeglass shop and got over a hundred dollars for it.
-
I freelance write for seven websites.
-
1. Cut things out of the budget that we don't need.
2. Dog training on the side (personal in-home and group classes).
3. Website design on the side.
4. Selling stuff that we don't use (DVDs now that we use BluRay primarily, old books, textbooks, etc.)
5. Any other odd jobs I can think of! :)

I am recenly a newbie here at FC, but going to be doing more since I am going back to school. I am going to be working part time, but would like to get into mystery shopping, so if anyone has any legit websites to get hooked up with that would be awesome. I have also donated plasma a few times.
