Do you keep your ketchup in the refrigerator? I never have. But, I don't buy huge bottles. I notice that if you have a big bottle and you have it too long, the color will darken.
Also, did you know that mustard is one of the few things that never spoil. Ironically, I do keep that one in the refrigerator.

I keep all opened condiments in the refrigerator. I've seen ketchup spoil and bloat up.
-
I heard that it be kept for no longer than 3 months!
-
I keep both my ketchup and mustard in the refrigerator, but if I chose to keep one room temperature I would leave the ketchup out
-
Well I have the tendency to keep ketchup and mustard in the refrigerator but I didn't know that mustard doesnt spoil that is very interesting.
-
Good question here. Most restaurants do not keep them in the fridge, but at our house, we keep the ketchup and mustard in the fridge. I guess it is a habbit.
-
don't like either.
-
Because they are Vinegar based they do not need to be placed in the fridge. However, if you have every used older ketchup (not outdated) that has not been put in the fridge it will bubble on your plate. Pretty nasty.

That sounds really gross. I buy both mustard and ketchup, and keep both in thr refrigerator. I am the only one in the house that likes mustard so an average size bottle will last forever and I have never had it go bad on me. The ketchup on the other hand I buy in the biggest bottle possible because my grandkids eat it on everything so no need to worry about spoilage there. :)

We keep the mustard in the fridge and the ketchup out on the kitchen table. I don't know why, we just always have.
-
In the refrigerator your ketchup can get a moled on it that can make you pertty sick. And mustard will seperate more in the warm air.
-
No I don't keep ketchup and mustard in the refrigerator.
-
I keep both in the refrigerator. I have to have ketchup.
-
I do not need them because I do not use them.
-
I keep both in the fridge, just stays fresher. I have actually seen a ketchup bottle sitting in a Shoneys years ago that had turned color, like a purple/brownish tint and it blew my mind that they actually still had that crap sitting out for customers to consume. I usually prefer my ketchup in the typical color of "red"... ::)
-
yes we do keep ketchup and mustard in the fridge.
-
I keep them both in the frig but only when i have already opened them
-
we keep ketchup in the frig but mustard, pickles, Jalapenos, and yellow hot peppers all go in cupboard next to frig... none of it stays long enough to spoil...
-
I keep mine in the refrigerator. I like cold ketchup and mustard on fries and burgers and stuff.
-
after opened it must go to the refrigerator
-
yupp i keep every thing in the fridge.
-
I keep both in the fridge.

I do keep both in the fridge. What's great about mustard is that there are no additives, so it is much healthier than Ketchup, as most Ketchup brands add high fructose corn syrup and other sugars.
-
I only put them in the refridgerator after they have been opened. I absolutely love ketchup and eat it on just about every type of meat plus various sides, so I buy the biggest bottles I find and it still doesn't last very long. I guess it never occurred to me that both ketchup and mustard will last otherwise. My parents always had it in the fridge so I do too.
-
I don't really like a sandwich with cold ketchup in it( i know, I can heat it up...blah, blah, blah...) so I don't put them in the refrigerator for at least the first week or two.
-
I am not a big fan of them so I don't have big bottles in my kitchen I only have a small packets that's all if anybody need he will find but we don't use these a lot
-
I keep both in the refrigerator after they are opened but I didn't know pickles could be kept out after they were open as was mentioned above. I think I'll just keep refrigerating ketchup, mustard and pickles though. I feel better about it. :dog:
-
Once they've been opened, I keep them in the ref.
Same here ;D don't know but could it be better safe then sorry. ????
-
I refrigerate just about anything that has been opened. So yes, ketchup and mustard are refrigerated. I also put my peanut butter in there. That's kind of annoying because it is hard to spread. I have a huge fear of food going bad and bugs, etc, so I keep it cold just to be safe.
-
I have never heard of leaving pickles out of the refrigerator once they are open. I don't think I would ever put peanut butter in the refrigerator.
-
Yes most of the time they will be in there. I dont like to eat them warm when we eat out we really dont have a choice :(
-
There's always ketchup and mustard in my fridge. Luckily we have much use for it so there's never been a problem of it going bad.

I keep my in the refrigerator but I don't think is is necessary with mustard. I would be a bit more concerned with ketchup but if you are not buying the larger bottles you should be fine (obviously you're still alive). I used to know a family who kept their Mao our (yuck!).

mustard never spoiling is pretty neat. I know if you put mustard under flannel they say it pulls out chest diseases.
Im not sure if that is mustard like the kind you eat or some herb powder though. :confused1:
