Title: How many of you skip the dinner for losing weight?

I have heard that skpping dinner or only fruit for dinner is the best way to lose weight and I am working on it. does it work on anyone here?

I tried that but it only makes me eat more when I start eating. I heard eating 5-6 times a day with small frequent times helps more.

It doesn't work because you won't do it forever, as soon as you start eating dinner again, you'll gain it back.

I agree with that. When I try to skip meals, then I just end up binging. I would suggest trying the six week body makeover diet. With it, you eat 5-6 times a day, and are guaranteed to lose at least 30 pounds in 6 weeks.

Im not big on diets because I cant stick to them. So my idea to lose weight would be to get the recomended servings of fruits and vegetables and things we were taught in school.

Do not skip meals! Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day. And make breakfast and lunch your biggest meals. I lost 60 pounds doing this....along with watching carb intake and water intake and exercise.

I don't think its a good idea but I do think that an early dinner is better at least 3 hours before bed time :)  I was watching dr. Oz today and I saw that if you just watch your sugar intake and your carbs you can lose alot more weight :)

Skipping meals is the WORST thing in the world to do!  Think of your metabolism as a fire;  if you want a roaring, hot-burning fire you have to "feed" it wood (or some kind of fuel) to get it to burn!  So stoke that fire!  Your metabolism is what not only gives you energy; it burns calories!  4-6 SMALL meals a day is best to keep the fire burning as it should!! :wave:

But really, what happens when you skip any meals or eat excessively small amounts of food as your meal, is your body begins to believe you don't have enough food to eat; to fight this, it begins to slow your metabolism to burn fewer calories.  Never let yourself go hungry if you can help it; get fruits or vegetables to snack on.  And really, small frequent meals are much better for us.

It is better to eat all your meals while dieting but eating dinner on the early side is a smart idea.

No skipping dinner does not help with weight lose just, have a small dinner before seven at night and no snacks.

I never skip a meal because I just get hungrier.  The key is to eat low-fat foods during the meals and control portions.  You can eat greens and stuff like that and get just about no calories.

Skip a meal doesn't seems a healthy way to lose weight.
Maybe smaller meals or soup instead of skip the dinner will work out better.

do not skip meals, i have skipped lunch a couple times this year, and it makes you eat more food the next time you eat. also hurts your body :angry7:

diets don't work because your body will adjust its needs to be able to function on what you are giving it. if you cut down to 1500 calories you will lose weight intially but eventually you will hit a plateau, you won't lose anymore weight. this happens because your body has learned to function on just the 1500 calories you are giving it. the only way to lose more weight is to cut your calories down again but you'll eventually hit that plateau again. so the best bet is to make healty eating choices, lean protein, whole grains, limiting fats and sugars, and to get regular exercise. the key is to make a lifestyle change, whereas a diet is changing now to drop the weight and then going back to bad habits where the weight will come back, but if you change your lifestyle and your habits you will be better able to lose the weight and maintain it for a longer period of time

Weight is never a problem for me. I never skip dinner for losing weight. Sometimes I skip dinner because I am too tired to eat.

I think the best way of losing weight is having small portions and more meals so you won't be hungry and of course some exercise.

I wouldn't do that if i were you. if you want to lose quickly right before a big event, it could work, but you will gain it all right back after you start eating dinner again. (plus, who wants to be hungry when they're trying to go to sleep?!) Try eating healthy "mini meals" all day long. that keeps your metabolism going (or, you could also try crystal light's metabolism booster) and it also makes you not hungry because you still are eating. good luck!

I wouldn't skip meals.  I normally don't eat breakfast, so I don't consider that skipping a meal.  I agree with eating less more often.  Most of my adult life I have grazed.  (that's what I call it, lol)

Skipping meals is one of the worst things you can do.
Eat small snacks every 2 hours.  Keep your body nourished yet healthy.

No, you don't have to skipped meal to lose weight. I know many people already did this but ain't gonna work. you should eat every meal but just a little bit just to have a little food inside your tummy. Skipped meal is not good at all. eat dinner before 6pm. eat some veges too :)

I sometimes skip dinner only because I get home late and too tired to make dinner....lol  I usually end up popping something in the microwave and eating that.  I've become more health minded however and now eat a lot of organic fare.  Fresh green beans don't take long to steam, and they make an excellent dinner.  I usually steam them until soft/crunchy, put butter and a little salt......that's dinner!

bad idea..you are suppose to have 3 main meals a day in moderation with snacks in between..just eat healthy

Fruits are bad for you when eaten at night, too much sugar. Eat salad instead, with little dressing as possible

Vegetables are really good for you, green beans, broculi, zuccini, and some stuff... I love veges!!!! My hubby does too  :thumbsup:

i used to skip meals when i was in high school thinking i was fat but in reality i wasnt fat. i looked back at the pics.

m,y girlfriend does that but it is totally not healthy. i think it doesnt help your metabalism if you are trying to lose weight.

really all you have to go is burn more calories then you eat, now granted if you eat 3000 cals your going to burn then off working out but sooner or later your system slows down and doesnt burn as much and eventually you get tired and stop unless your a beast haha

Never EVER skip a meal. It just slows your metabolism down and you will actually gain weight. Just eat a well-balanced meal and the weight will come off.
