I watched my friends kids (2 all day, and 1 I got on the bus to school) for around 8 hours and I got paid $40 a day. Another friend I watched her daughter for between 5-7 hours and charged $20 a day.

If I was going out to dinner and a movie or something I would probably pay between $15 and $20, that's around $5 an hour and I don't think I would go much less than that. Good babysitters can be hard to find and I probably wouldn't be going out all that much anyway. For daycare I think what I charged is fair and would expect to pay someone else the same.

If it is a holiday like New Years Eve I give the ninety dollars. If it is a big community event and the sitter is in high demand I pay seventy five dollars. Both of my kids are at an age where they have just graduated from being baby sat to being baby sitters and those numbers hold true.
