I know time is at a premium for most- how many of volunteer and where? I have been volunteering at a local thrift shop for years The shop supports the local high school scholarship fund. Last year we raised $52,000 in scholarships.
-
i volunteer at the library.
-
Yes I volunteer at soup kitchens/food pantries a lot.
-
I have in the past and want to start again. I used to volunteer at a soup kitchen when I lived in NYC a few years ago. I just went on volunteer match.com last week to see what I could do. A lot of the places in the city is farther than I want to travel. I found two things closer to where I live but it doesn't work with my schedule too well because I don't usually have off weekends.

I used to volunteer a LOT when I was younger. All through high school I volunteered at the hospital every Sunday during the school year, and twice a week during the summers. I enjoyed it immensely. I think everyone should volunteer at some point in their life. There's fewer greater feelings than helping.

I used to volunteer in the orphanage in my city and we did a lot of cleaning and feeding babies there. After I moved to the US I only volunteered in Scholarshop raising tuitions for students in need. I think all volunteering jobs very meaningful and inspiring.

i dont volumteer currently but i used to at day care center in long beach ca.....volunteer work is great for ur resume and its a way to give back to the community....i would recommend volunteer work to any young person tryna get there work experience up.
-
I am not a volunteer but it doesn't mean that I do not want to help; I guess nervous because I want to get things right if I should volunteer, which leads me to feeling worthless when I can't get it done.

I am currently helping my parish with their Friday fish fries through Lent. Every Thursday and Friday (it takes preparation on Thursday afternoons to get ready for Friday nights). It's my first year doing it, and I love it. I've met many great people in the parish, I get free food and drink, and my church and its school benefits from the money we help make.
And since I can't get a job right now (for some odd reason, no one will take me), I think I'll look for more volunteer opportunities. I think I'd enjoy helping the Church more. :D

I knew there lots of great people who like to give back to their community.
I have more information on how people can help charities in there local area. I don't think I can post it here. I 'm on facebook my fb email is my name pennykrahmer at gmail I'll be glad to give you the information.
In what ever way you give back to your community Keep it up and Thanks it really does make a difference!

I don't volunteer because I don't get paid.Money makes the world go round...you all know. Not saying anything is wrong with some volunteer work,it's just not for me.

-
yes...wherever I can...
-
Not really my time. I make donations though.
-
No but I though about it a few months ago until I had my 2 youngest grandchildren live with us.
-
I usually don't volunteer in any physical work, but I always contribute financially.
-
I never been, cos of time is not permited. I will try, but I applied before, No answer.
-
I just signed up today to volunteer at a local animal shelter. I've already got a busy schedule, but I'll make time for this!
-
Yes I do. Not as much as I would like to.
-
That's excellent that you raised $52K for scholarships. My hat is off to you. (Original Post). I don't volunteer much anymore. I did a lot of volunteering while I was in the military for 27 years, but have been pretty inactive since I retired. I do plan on getting back into it however. I miss it.
-
No I hate not getting paid.
-
The government tefuses to give me my full food stamp allowance...so I volunteer at the local food bank every other week and get my food for free.
-
ANC, that's smart.
A good volunteer job pays you in food and drink IMHO. ^.^
Better ones pay you free room and board.
The best give one a new lease on life. (think missionary work, or the Peace Corps)
-
I have volunteered in the past, but not now. Trying to get my business up and providing me with an income.
-
i used to volunteer when i was high school for the animal control. taking the dogs outside and trying to train them.
-
I do sometimes.
-
I volunteer in my daughter's classroom about 10 hours a week and love every minute of watching her grow in Kindergarten.
-
Whenever and wherever I can. The Lord blesses me so I am commissioned to spread the blessings.
-
I used to volunteer at a low income health clinic in the office. I really enjoyed it but it is located on the other side of town and I have less time than I did back then. Maybe one day I will volunteer there again.
-
I volunteer when and where I can. I believe that those who can, should help those who can't. Whether that is human, animal, or plant it makes no difference. I was recently having a conversation with a member of an organization (Fraternal Order of Eagles) and we were talking about all we could accomplish is each member gave just 2 hours a month to help. It does not have to be large amounts of time or money. If everyone who could, would give a small amount of time or money there would be a lot less need for government "help".
Bye the way if you want to know about the Eagles you can go to their website foe.com or contact me at sanderskm52 at yahoo.com.

i really wish i can volunteer. but its hard with no transportation and when i do have my daughter.
-
yes for my church, and nursing homes
-
No I hate not getting paid.
It's not about money it's about helping others and doing good for people other than yourself.
-
I have volunteered at the library. I no longer have time to do so now that my time is booked with more important things to do. Whenever I have an open free day, I will no doubt volunteer again.
-
No

I help with the local food pantry and meals on wheels. It fells great to help others. We all need help every now and then

Nothing against the concept but money is tough enough with the way the economy is. That's probably why we are all on here. I don't have enough time to give away time for free.
