Title: Eating
Post by: Kiirosunshine77 on May 06, 2011, 01:56:26 pm
So I have a bad habit of over eating and I continue to eat and eat and eat even though I'm not hungry. I'm bored! Any suggestions on how to keep myself from eating crap?

I've had that same problem before also, I just try to keep busy and drink more water. Also fix smaller portions, I tried that "eat till u feel full then throw the rest away" but it seems like I just HAVE to finish all that I put on my plate so I just put less on the plate now.

I'm that way too. If I'm busy then I don't think about eating too much. I try to eat little things throughout the day as opposed to just a big meal. I've been drinking more water too so that helps.

Wow, that is a good idea. I never thought about doing that.

sure... but overeating for no particular reason usually has nothing to do with the type of food -- you can overeat anything

I agree with the comments on water.
Drink water and have it on hand all day.
It is "food for our cells". It also helps solve/prevent a few problems.
I eat my main meal in the middle of the day and eat light in the evening.
 It's better for digestion.

Snack throughtout the day at least 6 times very small portions.  Drink lots lots of water. So you want get hungry. Keep your stomach full. That way you want over eat at luch or dinner.

I've been told that eating small portions several times ( like 5 or 6) a day is better than eating larger meals 2 or 3 times a day....increases your metabolism...??  It must work, because that is how I eat and I usually cannot gain an ounce no matter how hard I try...I eat very small amounts all day long..snacky kinds of things...some junk food like cookies, chips, etc.  and some healthy like veggies....I've eaten this way for so long that now my stomach is too small to eat a large meal.  If we go out to eat, I always end up taking half of it home in a box for later or lunch the next day.
I think I must have a pretty high metabolism because the only time I have ever been able to gain weight is if I am able to eat regular meals 3 times a day for several days, and eat a big meal very late in the day (like 8pm or 9pm).  And then it took a few weeks to notice even the slightest gain.
Anything you can do to increase your metabolism...

I eat when I'm bored and not hungry too but I don't over eat because I hate the feeling of being too full.  Stay busy and don't keep a lot of food around the house that you are quick to snack on.  If you must snack keep a lot of fruit and nuts around instead of junk food.
