I've just realized right this moment that I might not be able to survive even 6 hours without any electronic devices: computer, phone, etc...
What do you think? Could you survive at least a week without any electronic of any sort? To make a little simpler, how long do you think you could go without any electronic device?
-
I think it would do everyone a chance to use their imagination and find a different way to pass the time. I think I could very easily, because I don't use them that much.
-
Not me personally. I would suffer from withdrawal. I think we are all dependent on technology, anyway.
-
No. I've had to do it before after a storm, and it was miserable. Especially not having any lights.
-
Yes. I actually survived a month without electric service. That was after tropical Storm Jean hit the island of Puerto Rico. The only essential thing you need electricity for would be for the refrigerator. When you have too much technology around, you seem to forget about the people around you.
-
I've went more then 5 months without electronics. How did I manage right? But once I got back on. Darn. :/ Sucked back in.
But then again I technically used it everyday, considering I have to use a projector, elevator, electric fan, etc.
-
I was applying for a job the other day and they wanted me to list references and such so I pulled out my iPod and looked them up on facebook, then pulled out my phone to find their numbers if they werent on facebook haha. Now I could survive, I'd just not be able to apply for jobs ;D
-
I don't think I could make it a whole week. On the rare occasion where I've had to go a whole day without anything I've felt seriously out of touch and do not like the feeling.
-
No I don't think that I could live normally for a week without any electronics! I would never even try to cause I know I couldn't last!
-
Mmmm, let me think? Well, that's enough: NO! There is no way I could live normally a week without electronics. I just got back from Thailand and was in the country side for a while near Cambodia. After I started to go crazy with no internet access, I got on a motorbike and rode with shorts and flip flops to the nearest mid-sized village with an internet cafe (about 22 kms away) just to get my fix!

Sounds exactly like something I would do!

I think a lot of it depends on the situation. I use the computer and internet for work. It would be impossible to do my work without a computer. However if I took a vacation for a week camping it would be easier. I am a bit addicted to the computer and internet. I could go without tv, gaming consoles and phone pretty easily but the computer is different. So I think that only on vacation I could really put it away not during a normal work week.
-
I know I am very dependent on technology, mostly for communication. I think I could survive without it if I absolutely had to, but I'd rather not try it out!
-
I prefer not, but i feel that it is possible.
-
It would be okay with me. I grew up without any of these things. We didn't even have a land line phone in the house for years and bought a TV only when it was required for school so I could answer questions about the Huntley-Brinkley news report. :)
-
I am an online student so i am online each and everyday. I would not be able to survive without my electronics. now if there wasnt any school, i would be happy to go camping for a week w/o any electronics.
-
well try living 10 nites and 11 days without elec thats what my family and myself just went thru see we live in northeast ala and we were in al thosae tornadoes on april 27 .we had no damage thank god but we lost power and both our freezers but w r alive and we thank god every day for that,
-
I don't think so. There are several reasons. First of all, we can not verify or forum without giving our cell phone number. So will loose money right there. Second things we all trying to make money through internet and it can be done by only using computer. So these two are very common electronic that we use now a days. Other most important is Car. At least once we all have expe. that how hard to live with out car.
-
i might be able to survive but then i would be bored and out want to know what is going on with other people. i guess they would just have to write me an old fashion letter lol. it's more personal ne ways coz it's their handwriting.

i don't think i could live with out my computer, tv or dvr for more then like 2 and half hours. But i use my computer for like verything so without it i would probley have a melt down. lol
-
If I must go through it due to any uncontrollable circumstances such as natural disasters that struck my neighborhood, then I will happily adapt. It gives me an opportunity to read more books and meditate to occupy my time.
-
yes i think i could be ok without any electronics for a week.
-
I would feel weird not checking up on my news and such, though... I would feel out of touch from the world, ironically, even though technology seems to keep us from living our lives sometimes. But I think I would be fine as long as the power in general would work, and just not cell phones and TVs and such. I would have time to read books, study, exercise, go out to the city...
-
I think I would most assuredly go bonkers! ???
-
:dontknow:not sure how long? But i think i could do it for more than a week :dontknow:
-
No i couldn't live with out my computer,I'm hook .lol
-
I think I could survive just fine (especially in the spring/summer time) but that doesn't mean I'd like it!! :sad1:
i really can say that i can because am always checking my email and looking for other types of stuff such as work out routines.
-
I think I could live without electronics for a week although I would
feel "out of touch" without my cellphone.
You never know when someone is going to call or text you.....even
your boss.
-
Absolutely not, I go crazy two second without my computer. Mine about crashed and I thought my whole world was ending, without a cellphone, I have no cellphone so that is easy.
-
I might be able to survive without the tv and maybe the computer for the week. I couldn't live without my phone cause I use it for my job. People are so dependent on technology these days and it would be hard.
-
no way! ,my phone, my computer, my Xbox 360, PS3 i need them all
its like electric crack i tells yah!
-
NO WAY IMPOSIIBLE THING FOR ME..
-
I would love it as long as it is nice out. I'm an outdoors person and I like to read.
-
As long as I didn't have to go to school that week I totally could. But since my school is on-line distance ed for right now I wouldn't be able to go without. :)
-
Naw thats impossible. I just got this new ipod touch. the one with the 2 way camera. i cant spend hours without it, how possible would it be to spend a week. And my phone with over 290 contacts. And cable and my laptop. Defenately impossible.
-
Electronics are such an everyday part of our lives that we may not even realize we are using them. No light swithes, no home security systems, etc. We woyld all be lost without some form of electrical equiptment.
-
Sure, no problem, as long as I can keep the stove and refrigerator on. For my husband, it would be impossible because he uses his computer for his job.
-
I'd rather not but I think I could do it without going crazy
-
i'd survive but i'd probably go out of my mind. practically did at the end of last month when we were without tv/internet for 2 days. now i was busy packing and cleaning for our move so it didn't directly affect me. what drove me crazy was that my kids were bored out of their minds once i was too dark to play outside, and they could not have their normal routine of tv between bath and bedtime. luckily the move was completed and everything was set up at the new house the very first day so the kids have been out of my hair watching cartoons while i have been cleaning and unpacking here. and for myself its nice to have internet (and some free time) to unwind at night
-
I think I could. Just head down to the lake and fish most of the time. If it was raining and I was stuck inside all day then we would have some problems.
-
Absolutely, especially if I had several books to read. The only thing I use daily is my computer, and I can live without that.
-
We have been out of power for several days at a time due to severe ice storms in the past. It sure makes for long boring days & cold too in the winter!
-
I am pretty sure I could if I lived near a beach...lol :bootyshake:
-
I don't think so :) :) :)
-
Nope, because I "normally" get on Fusion cash each day and do my daily clicks and my daily email, it is a ritual. It has become part of my daily life!
-
:dont know: i think could
-
I would be fine except I would be lonely - I rely on my phone to keep in touch with my mom and boyfriend, we talk multiple times a day.
-
no kids would drive me nuts
-
OMA!!! NO WAY!!! I'D GO BONKERS :BangHead: :crybaby2: :BangHead: :-X :BangHead: :crybaby2: ???
-
The only electronics I like are my TV and my turn table. The only reason I use my computer is to make money with stuff like this and PTC sites. I dont have an Ipod, my phone is a brick and I'd rather not have one, yeah. I think its sad how everyone is so dependant on technology.
-
nope, got to have my ipod and my netbook.
-
Yes I could live without the electgronics such as tv, radio, dvd, computers. I'm not so attached to these comforts that I couldn't give them all up for a season.
-
I think I could. It would be a way to reconnect with people and actually talk to them and spend time with friends and family. I try to unplug myself when I get home sometimes; no tv or cell phone. I think it would be difficult at first but would get easier and before you know it you'd probably pass the week and not realize it. I got rid of a few social networking profiles I had and it is such a relief not to listen to people complain about their lives, it's wonderful!
-
no!
-
i don't think so.. lol.. seems like electronics is been part of our daily lives and i think now a days even cave man is already using cellphones hahahahah
-
No probably not normally.
I usually use the internet for one thing or another!
-
I don't think I could go very long without any electronics. At the most a few days to one week or so.
-
Yes, I think I could! I would move to small log cabin in the country: No TV, no computers, no electricity. Plenty of bottled water, canned food, a good wood stove and many fuel or battery operated lamps. Water store in buckets for cleaning. Some of our ancestors survive that way many years ago.
-
Nowadays it is very hard, if not impossible. If you count a car electronic, since there is plenty of electronics in a car these days. I guess we don't realize just using a Phone/stove/TV/Microwave, it seems everything you do you use some type of electronics. I don't think I could go a week without electronics personally.
-
No way- I couldnt continue to make the insignificant amount of money I am making online right now-LOL
-
I could ... I have ... but it's not much fun. :sad1:
-
I don't think so. I spend like 3 hours a night watching tv and use my phone to stay in touch with the world. Not that anyone really cares where I am at moist times lol ...and I have emails that need to be checked everyday....like the fushion cash daily email haha
-
sure, it would give me a chance to catch up on reading
-
....When i use to live in philippines you dont even get to use that much electronics, I was always outside doing a lot of things and actually I was more active then than I am now. So I would say no i might not be able to live without electronics if Im in canada but if in philippines for vacation yes, i can surive XD
-
We have and hated it. Dont want to do that again.
-
I could survive a week if i knew i only had to do it for a week :P but randomly *bleep* them away from me for a day without telling me when i'll get them back, and i'd go nuts
-
i'm pretty sure i could do it.
i'd rather curl up with a good book than bother with electronics half of the time anyway ;p
-
Never and that is so bad! I'm constantly on facebook and fusioncash and am texting all day. That's how I stay connected to all my friends that I'm not able to see
-
Now that would be very hard for me to do. I just retired and now I'm on another schedule. Each morning I turn on the TV and my computer for another active day. Yes that would be hard to face. But just think our fathers didn't have it sooooo good or did they?
-
I miss the old times when it was just a phone in a wall. Communication is so distorted now by all this fast paced technology. But it has become our reality life could never go back to before the technolgy/electronic baby boom. Dont get me wrong Im living main stream too. For me its not having access to a phone. I could do it, go back to the non-technology but life wouldnt be the same
-
i don't know anybody who could live a week with out a electronic devise like a cell phone.. i would go crazy! it's my lifeline to the world! :bunny:
-
i couldnt go a week without any electronics because without my phone i will go crazy and my phone is a smart phone and it does everything in one and without would be like having no computer or tv
-

Don't you ever go camping? lol
I could survive but I probaly wouldn't like it. I'm not an electronic junkie but I think the things I use add quality to my life. Now when I camp I don't take any of those things along.
-
Yes, I would be fine living without electronics.
-
Probably not. First of all, as a college student, I am constantly on the computer, checking my student e-mail, doing homework, etc. Even in the summer time, when I am not in school, I usually have school related things to take care of, and they are usually online. Secondly, I live and breathe video games. I probably play video games at least 2 times a day, for like 3 hours at a time. I would be so bored out of my mind without them, I'd probably do something really dumb just to take my mind off of them! My cell phone I could probably live without. I don't really use it much, and I live close to everyone who'd I use it to call anyway, so if worst came to worse, I'd just go see them myself.
-
:crybaby2: NO NO NO
Ive had to do it before and I get grouchy.
-
Nope I dont think most people in these days can last an hour without technology honesty your phone, tv, camera etc. I dont know the last time I have spent more then an hour without them I think everyone needs a break from them though
-
Not at all, I'm a web and graphic designer! I'd have to be on vacation or unemployed.
-
I would say it's gonna be hard since I rely too much on the electronics nowadays!! :(
