This Makes me nuts when I see people doing this. I dont care if it's for 2 minutes, thats 2 min more for someone who REALLY needs that space to walk :sad1:....what do you think?
-
No, never parked in a handicap space. What really bugs me are the people who aren't handicap, but are using someone else's car (who has the tag/sticker/etc.) to park in a handicap space. At least the ones without the sticker that park there aren't lying to use the spot, just taking a chance.

I know what you mean, but still a chance that shouldnt be done in the first place :sad1:

No I would never park in handicap parking. My Mom was terminally ill and had the license plate and I would drive her to an appointment or something and get so mad because I couldnt get her close because people would park in them without stickers or plates. I would have to go in and get a nurse and we would get her in and then I would have to park then come in a find her. People need to be considerate because they are there for a special reason not everyones convenience.

The only time I've ever used a handicapped space is when my fiancee was on crutches with limited weight-bearing awhile back.

hmmmm I can understand that, so long as you didnt abuse the fact!!
-
No never. I have sat in a handicapped spot for a minute while waiting for someone with the engine running but I've never parked got out of the car and went shopping for hours parked in a handicapped spot.

but what if someone who was handicapped needed that spot and couldnt use it because you were there, if only for a minute :(

I have a handicap tag and use it when I am alone. When I am with my kids, they usually drop me off a the entrance and then park elsewhere.
-
I have never parked in a handicap spot well i have when there are like 50 and I am dropping someone off at my school I am just there to park then reverse instantly it sounds horrible but our school has so much parking and i make sure there are many open or i would not do that
-
I don't and never have. They are designated there for people that need to be close to the store or office they are going to. However some people who consider obesity a handicap, I think they should't get front row parking. No offense, but they could use the walk.
-
No I've never done that... But my friend tried once, he said it would be only for a few seconds, but I told him. "o my gosh if you do that I swear to you I will call the cops and make them give you a big fat TICKET!!" so he went and park in another parking spot, :P but hey I'm a person that tries to respect the law as much as possible and that handicap parking was no for him... I should be a cop huh? :D
-
I do all the time but my fiancee is handicapped and 99% of the time if im in town im with him. At work i park at the far end of the parking lot. Im young so I can walk.
-
I never do it because the fine here in CA is just way too high. I see some people doing it at the library just to return books. There's almost always another spot so it doesn't really bother me that much even though there are regular spaces that are only a few more steps away.

The one time when I was waiting in the spot no other cars came into the parking lot. It wasn't that long ago so I remember.

I have never used handicap parking. I didn't even use the Mommy parking at Babies R Us when I was pregnant with my son. I figured that there was no reason that I couldn't walk....I wasn't on bedrest or pregnant with twins or something that might make it difficult for me to stand or walk for long periods of time and someone else might need that parking more than me. :)

It wasnt directed to you personally hun just anyone in general who sits in 1 even for a minute.

No, No, No!! It seems to me that people who do that should be grateful for the fact that they don't have to.

I know the majority of people would never consider parking in a Hp parking spot even if they weren't disabled and qualified for it. As much as I hate to admit it I do qualify for the spots and do use them. For those of you who may consider using them I would trade my legs for yours any day. Also keep in mind that there are many others such as the elderly who don't qualify but probably need it more than I do on some days.
What bothers me most about this is when people park between 2 hp spots in the van loading zones denying access to those in wheelchairs to use the spaces. I am very fortunate I can walk I don't need a wheelchair. However for those who do getting around is a lot harder.
So if you happen to see this please at least leave a note on the windsheild that they are illegally parked and denying access to people in wheelchairs. If it is a repeat offender I will report it to the police Thanks so much

I don't park in hp spots and I have MS. I don't qualify for a hp decal. What does get me mad is when some one is sitting in the car waiting for the hp person to get out of the store. Sorry, circle the lot or find a space and wait for your friend. Around here hp spaces can be at a premium. Btw hp spots are wide for wheelchairs, etc. Not for motorcycles. Enough of my rant....

No, never, no never have I parked in a handicap parking space. I do, however, use the handicap stall at the restroom and son't see anything wrong with that. It is handicap accessible but not restricted if you get what I mean.

I use those when I shop with my boys. They're 3 and 18 months. It's easier to keep them together in one big stall.
-
Never thought about them being convenient for moms with children, but, as a non=parent, I would say that shopping with toddlers qualify you as 'shopping handicapped"
-
hell no......the ticket charge is like $500 bucks
-
oh but i really dont care if some body else does. in fact it looks pretty funny
-
I would never! save it for the people who need it!
-
No, would not even think of it! Well I might think of it when I ma in a rush......... LOL
-
no I don't. I am able to get around so there is no reason to take one of those spots
-
No. That's just plain ignorance.
-

well that wasnt a very nice thing to say...................and it's the PATRIOTS ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way

I soooooooooo agree dkanofsky, you look like a happy go lucky

I have never parked in a designated handicap parking spot although I think that some businesses get carried away with the number of spots that they designate as handicapped. I have been disabled for over eight months and can completely relate to your anger with people who selfishly take those spots. My dad has abused the handicap pass system but now has a true need for the spots due to his own ailments...Kharma.
-
Nope, I never parked in a handicap space. However, I see people park their vehicle right next to a handicap space. You would ask me so, whats wrong with that? Well, where they parked at is a unmarked area where no one is suppose to park. People just park there for the hell of it and its people around my age that should know better.
-
The only time I used one was when it was the last parking space available at a Wawa. For those that don't know Wawa is a 24 hour store where you can purchase fast food or a small amount of groceries. The cop was there and didn't give me a ticket as he knew there was no other place to park. God saved me on that one. I didn't even want to park there but the cop gave me the ok. Thank goodness.
-
nope, i don't park in handicap spaces ... i'm disabled, but don't have a handicap plackard and don't need one at this point. when i get to that point (hopefully i won't) i will get the plackard and use it for sure. i don't like it when people use them when they aren't handicapped. i think it's rude. but each to their own.
-
no i have never done that.
-
Only when I'm driving my handicapped friend. We often have to walk extra distances (I walk, she limps, clutching her walker and moaning with pain) because some ***hole with no handicap sign or sticker parks in the space she needs. Most frequent excuse we hear from these jerks: "I didn't want to be late." My friend asks, "Well, what do you think you made US be????"
-
NO WAY!!!
-
NEVER!
I hate those people who do that :BangHead:
-
NO, and after being in a wheel chair for a year and seeing so many people do this, it makes me sick.
-
No, I would never do that. It drives me nuts when people do that.
-
NEVER! But I agree about being annoyed when you see people who CLEARLY are not handicapped, but probably are using someone else's car or sticker to abuse the system.
-
The only time I park in handicap space is if I'm with my mom (or by chance another person who has a right to park in one). So if I'm with my mom (doesn't matter who is driving) then we park in one, IF one is available. Before my mom became handicapped, it still made me angry to see others take the space when they didn't have the right to. :angry7: Shame on them.
-
I love what Walter from the Jeff Dunham show, "Spark of Insanity" has to say about it:
Walter: I saw a man parked in a handicapped spot and there was nothing wrong with him. (To the audience) Don't you hate that?
So I ran his a** over. I made an honest man out of him.
Then his mother got out of the other side and started swinging her crutches at me.....
-
I hate it when people do not care about the handicap parking. I wish if you have a handicap parking card and some is parked in that spot that should not be there, we would be able to write a ticket for $100 or more. I do have a handicap parking card and I see an older person who needs it more than I do I will let them have the spot.
-
I never have and never will unless I'm disabled. Even if the parking lot were empty, I wouldn't use it. Besides, I don't want to pay a fine!!
-
NO...NEVER....I used to get so made whenever my mom was living and I would take her somewhere and low and behold here is someone as healthy as a can be...no handicap placard...parking in a handicap spot...Where as my mother was on oxygen and in a wheelchair!!!! Some people could care less....(until its them)
-
I can use them but i keep forgetting to get a sign for the car. Perhaps the person is handicapped and just forgot to get the proper sign for the car. I know several people that do that.
-
I work in a group home with individuals who are in wheelchairs or who
need assistance walking due to stroke.
Please do NOT park in the handicap spaces. I drive a big lift van
for the wheelchairs and I NEED the spot!
-
Only if i am driving my sister & she had her handicap parking card with her, or i am driving my special-needs clients at work - the van has parking tags.
-
I don't, but I think I might some time at work. They have way too many handicapped parking spots there, and that is always the only empty area in the whole parking lot. Most of the people who do park there are not handicapped anyway. I work second shift, and I don't feel safe walking to the other end of the parking lot in the dark in the middle of the night. And I am on my feet for 8-10 hours each night, and I sure don't feel like a long a walk at the end of the shift, especially since I am already underweight and can't afford to lose any more. As they hire more and more people, it get harder and harder to find a decent parking spot.
I realize that some people do need handicapped spots, and are really handicapped. But the system is so corrupt, that many people who have a handicapped sticker are not really handicapped. The whole disability system needs to be redone. And when there's 20 empty handicapped spaces and no regular ones, I don't see anything wrong with parking in one of them. There's still plenty of room for handicapped people.
-
No, I never do that i think it's unscrupulous and not worth the ticket you can get if you're caught. Some take it a step further by purchasing the decal and place it in their vehicles :( even though they're not handicapped.
-
i have waited in a handicapped space to pick someone up, but never parked and left my car alone their. i do not want a ticket for that.
-
Since I have lupus I am entitled to use the handicapped parking but I hardly ever do. I do use the front seat of buses though.
-
:sad1: no i dont.. i think thats just wrong if you do park in a space that is for handicap and your not handicap.
-
No I have never parked in a handicapped space but some places do have way too many handicapped spaces that are almost always empty except for a few.
-

I am the same way. I also hate that because I have Lupus people think I don't belong in the handicapped spot when I am parked there because "I don't look sick". Well I say to those people they should have to live one day with Lupus and then tell me I don't deserve that spot !
-
I did for a while after i had hip surgery. I was hobbling around like a ninety year old women. A cop saw me do it once and said he understood. other than that, i never would park in one if i didn't feel like i had to.
-
I only park in them if I have my hubby with me. If I am by myself I park in non handycap place. Most people don't realize that if a handycap person takes a picture of the car and its tag then report it asap that person will get ticketed for it. Have great day everyone. :D
-
I have a disability and use a wheelchair. I have a full-size van with a lift and I need to park in a handicapped parking space. I think it is very inconsiderate when people who don't need handicapped parking spaces choose to park in them.
-
No, I never do. It's not fair to the physically challenged people. That makes me angry when I see an able body do something like that.
-
never! but i think about it.
-
no and I think its wrong of people who do
-
No, I do not. I think it is wrong to do. I and my hubby both have chronic diseases that may one day result in the need for handicap parking.
-
It’s impolite to park in spaces reserved for handicap people. I’d rather walk and park further if necessary. It’s important to be selfless and considerate for those who are really handicapped.
