A lot of stores use to have a "Christmas in July" sale that would offer good deals but I haven't seen nor heard of any in quite a while. I use to pick up things throughout the year when I found a good deal but since our personal economic downturn, I haven't had the opportunity to do that much lately. We will be emphasizing the true Reason for the Season instead of the materialistic side of Christmas.

No I used to start early. But not this year.Money is lower,so things will be a little tighter this year. And I have 2 baby showers(july, sept) and birthdays(jan, mar, aug, sept, oct, nov, dec). All before christmas. And that's my family.Between me and both my sisters,we have all months covered. We have at least 3 in each month the last 5 months of the year.

the way the things are today is best to start saving money for Christmas in the spring time so you want be in such a buying.

I can't bear to start thinking about that already. Knowing what to buy is always what causes the most stress for me.

we have so much going on between now and christmas.
my son's birthday in two weeks, my parents visit this fall, the arrival of our next baby this fall and then it's the wedding anniversary and my hubby's birthday --- then we reach December so I have too much to do before christmas shopping starts I guess! :)

haha with what money?
-
heck no! dont do that till bout nov....

Nope. I don't celebrate Christmas. Or Hanukkah. Or Kwanzaa. :P

Money has been very tight this year. Every week or so lately, something very expensive has happened. Yesterday, the serpentine belt busted in the car I was driving. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and had my 1 yo daughter with me. We were lucky to make it to the shop a mile away. However, since it was really hot out, I was more concerned with getting to safety than the car. I may have fried it. I could go on and on with all the very expensive things we're experiencing that prevent us from doing the very basics right now, but this isn't the pity forum.

I don't shop before Nov., although I start saving a little each month. My kids change what they want so much, that even buying what they say in Nov., by Christmas, the have usually lost interest. I don't buy that much, only for my husband and my kids, so it's not too hard to get it done.

I usually do my shopping throughout the year and get things when I find good deals on them. Just haven't been able to do that this year. It's gonna be slim this year, that's for sure.
-
No, but back to school sale just started.

When the grandkids were small, it used to be easy to buy things for them. I bought quite a few presents, but a good deal of them were clothes. We used to play bingo for presents and the kids always picked the soft ones as they knew they were clothes. Now they are in college, it is really tough. I ask for a list and try to get things on the list, but also give a lot of gift cards. After all, who doesn'[t like getting money.

I would be shopping for birthday presents and the like at this time (and throughout the year), but I don't generally begin Christmas shopping until September.
-
Just starting to get ideas at the Farmer's Market's around here. Unless you count ornaments. I already bought a new one for the season and have decided to do the "Upside Down" tree. ;D
-
it is still early. but if there is cheap stuff. think about it.
-
Not yet., will be starting soon tho.
-
yes i have been christmas shopping. but no money is involved. i use my points that add up to rewards on sites like zoompanel and mypoints.
-
Yes. I do try to pick up a few little things during the year so I don't have to do it all at once.
-
it was easy to shop early when my son was little. now that he's 15, i cant prebuy gifts. if i do get something he says he wants, by the time christmas gets here he either doesnt want it anymore or buys it himself lol. on top of that, he's wayyyy out of the "cheap gift" age, more into looking at bikes and cars, android phones, video game stage.

WHOA ... only 4 months till Christmas ... isn't that amazing.
I usually start my Xmas shopping started in Sept and finished by Oct. so I don't have to worry about it.
There really weren't any Xmas in July sales this year.
