So I put our home phone number on the Do Not Call List 5 years ago and I still am getting ridiculous calls. Today I got an automated call about lowering my debt. I got transferred to a human being and I asked him to please remove me from their calling list.......and he hung up on me. I called the number back and it didn't work. These people are really killing me. I will block the numbers and then they'll call from different numbers. Just so frustrating.....especially with a baby trying to sleep in the house. >:(

No home phone here, just my cell. I just got a new cell and I get calls from the previous owner, so I changed the number and its been peaceful since.
-
same here on no call list but get several calls every week try to be nice but tell them not interested and get off phone as fas t as possible.
-
I have put my number under the do not call list, but I still too get that random phone call...marketers these days.... :dontknow:
-
I have two cell phones and i give the number to the phone i dont use

My mom got a call today about a "claim that had been filed" against her. She asked the caller who they were trying to reach, and they gave her a name (not hers). She told them that was not her, she did not that person, and the caller hung up on her. No apology or anything. So rude.

i disconnected my home phone because of these annoying calls and some how they call my cell phone. I got a call the other day that i was being sued for not paying a $200 loan i from some online company that i've never heard of. When i called back the number it went to someone's home and their kid picked up the phone.

I had a house phone for years and when the phone just keep ringing I unplugged and when I needed it I would plug it in and use it and than unplugg it again. Now I don't have it even hooked up because I moved and didn't see the point. I also signed up for that no call list but it doesn't work you still get calls. My son got a call saying he owed for a checking account and they were going to sew him for it unless he took care of it over the phone he told the person he hasn't had a checking account in over 10 years (later found out the account was in New York which he has never been to). This was some kind of scan or something because he would not pay anything and found out that the number that called him wasn't even a business number someone was just trying to get money out of him.

I got rid of land line phone service a few months ago and got majicJack and haven't had any problems with unsolicited calls since then. I'm not here to advocate that product, but it sure is a lot cheaper. I had a cell phone when I lived in Europe, service was excellent and a lot cheaper there. I find I can do without a cell phone here in the US.
-
People still use landline phone service?? JK :P
Seriously though, getting rid of our landline service years ago was one of the better decisions I have made. One less annoying thing to deal with! ;)

I am personally glad I do not have a home phone. Although, there have been instances where I think someone who previously had my number had a lot of different calls, because when I got the number, I would have a few different places call that I had NO clue about.

I received a call today stating that I was selected to be on a free 5 day cruise. My bs alarm went off and I told the lady "yeah right, what's the catch" and she said "well you have to be excited to receive this free cruise" and then she hung up on me! :o That is a first, I've never had a telemarketer hang up on me. I called the number back got someone else and a long speech about how great my free cruise would be. The catch is that I am required to pay 119 dollars via credit card over the phone for boarding charges and the like. Not sure if it is a scam, but it sure smells like one.
-
oh those annoying calls. I just send all calls to my answering machine now. they sure can get on your nerves
-
ive been getting telemarketing calls on my cell phone
-
I am a passive aggressive with caller ID and don't answer unknown numbers.
If I accidently answer ... I just hang up ... no point in bothering or wasting my time.
-
I know what you mean.... Just today I had the same conversation with my staffs from another site. Glad I can share it here.

I keep getting that one about lowering my credit charge debt or interest rate. I have followed the directions for not getting more of those calls, but it doesn't work. The calls come from all different numbers, but the voice on the line sounds the same. If I answer, now I hang up.

Yeah, I noticed some of the offers you have to leave a phone number. I give them my cell number, and then when I see a number I don't know, I just ignore it. Some of them has given me a chance to opt out, which is nice.
-
yeah those calls are aggravating! they keep calling me still! and ive told them to stop numerous times.
-
I put mine on the DND list as well and still get everyone wanting to donate or buy something :confused1:

Turn your ringer off, or vibrate if a cell phone while the baby is sleeping, tell them when they call that you are on the do not call list and they will be reported if they call back. See if that gets anything done.

It's almost guaranteed that, for people on do not call lists, anyone who calls about any kind of unsolicited offer is a scammer. You can report the numbers, who you talked to, etc. at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
I've only had one telemarketer-type call since I got on the registry last year; After I told them not to call again I looked up the number online and found it was a scam. I reported the number.
Here is the description for complaints:
You may file a complaint if you received an unwanted call after your number was on the National Registry for 31 days.
You may also file a complaint if you received a call that used a recorded message instead of a live person (whether or not your number was on the Registry).
*Reminder:Even if your number is registered, charities, political organizations, and telephone surveyors may continue to call you. Companies with which you do business may also continue to call, unless you have asked them to stop calling you. If you have asked them to stop calling, please keep a record of the date you made the request and include that information in the comment section of any complaint you submit against that company. Click Here for more information about the companies that may continue to call the numbers on the Registry.
Debt collectors may also continue to call you whether your number is on the Registry or not. If you have a complaint about a debt collector, please Click Here to file your complaint. For more information about your rights regarding debt collectors Click Here.

It seems to me like you have to re-register your number every so often with the Do Not Call registry, but I can't remember. I don't have a landline anymore either, but my mom does. This week she got a phone call and the caller said, "Grandma?" Because she is a grandma to a young man she answered back and said "Is this Nick?" To make a long story short, it was a scammer trying to make my grandma believe he was a relative who was in trouble in jail in Mexico and he wanted her to wire him money. She is hard of hearing and thought she was actually talking to my nephew.
Thankfully, she told him he would have to call back when my dad was there and he said he would call back in 1 hours. We quickly figured out it was a scam. We called the police and asked if they wanted the information and they said, no it would be too much trouble to track it down. Be Careful!

I've been on my state no-call list for well over a decade and yet I still get those 'lower your interest rate' recordimgs & when I hit the button to connect & tell them not to call me again, they hang up :BangHead:
-
Yeah...i get them too.......I just hang up immediately

The ones that continue to call like that, and hang up on you when you call them back are more than likely scammers. Their numbers definitely need to be reported.

i dont even like to be on the phone any more

Yea, my dad [when i lived with him] got rid of our home # bc of all that junk.
and i kept getting threatening calls from an ex employee on my old cell # so i changed it, then when i started on all this offer stuff, i used my real number, and i started geting calls.. so i stopped using it and used my old cell # or old home #. im not getting junk calls anymore.. lol
