Title: Thunder Cats Remake
Post by: articx on August 02, 2011, 11:18:02 am
Did anyone watch the premiere of the Thunder Cats remake on Cartoon Network? I did, and judging from the first two episodes, it looks like a decent cartoon (Unlike the Voltron remake). The story is different from the 80th version, such as it taking place on their home planet and there were changes made to characters. I will mention some without giving too much away. In the 80th version, Snarf was Lion-O's nanny and in the 2011 remake, he is Lion-O's pet and appears to be unable to speak. The ThunderCats didn't know about Mumm-Ra until they landed on Third Earth but in the remake, they have been enemies before the beginning of the story.

I watch the original on boomerang, it's cheesy but so much better. The new one looks too new, too much like the anime and japanese cartoons, which I do like some of them but still, I don't know, maybe I'll watch it anyway and see how it is.

I happened to catch it on tv and since I never saw the original version I thought it was pretty interesting. I did read an article about the show and they mentioned that the cat, Snarf, used to talk in the old version and how annoying it was. They then interviewed the shows' creators and they mentioned how the Snarf character almost got cut from the new version.

it looked pretty cool. I can imagine if someone saw the new one for the first time and then saw the old one, the 80s version would be painful to the eyes lol.

I didn't get a chance to check it out yet, but based on your review maybe I'll give it a shot.  Just another in a long line of remakes lately, both in theaters and on TV.  Think the baby boomers are coming?  They're already here.
