Eat less food right? I'm 5'10 220 and am tired of not being in shape. I'm a size 36 waist and would love to be a size 34 or less. I'm stocky so I'm not as rotund as 220 pounds might seem, but I'm chubby nonetheless. When I was 200 pounds 5 years ago for my wedding I didn't have a gut and had a size 34 waist. What works/worked for you to lose weight? What is your current weight and how much would you like to lose by years end? This is usually the time of year where I start adding weight, but not this year. I don't expect women to list their weight, but you can say how much weight you want to lose or have lost due to recent efforts.

ive tried everything, but since i turned 35 a few years ago, i can smell food and gain, i just go ahead and eat what i want, not everyone is supposed to be skinny, some are just supposed to be in between
-
I have lost 15 pounds already. You just have to concentrate and work hard at it. I need to shed 45 or 50 more pounds to be my ideal weight. I have lost these pounds using water pills, ALLI weight loss program (visit your local pharmacy and see if that plan is for you), natural exercise, plain walking, drinking lots of water and watching my diet. No breads, no pasta, no rice, no fried foods (only steamed or baked), no sodas, no sugar, low salt in whatever you eat...and many other hints you can find in magazines.

im 193 and think i should gain some weight
-
I would love to lose about 10 pounds! My problem is exercising! Its hard for me to get motivated and stay motivated! I might do pretty good for a couple of weeks...then I slack off! Its sad because I feel much better when I do exercise on a regular basis!
-
I used to weigh 225, but i'm actually down to like 180. Lots of water, some salt with every meal, a little bit of exercise, and smaller portions. Always drink water during your meals, not soda.
-
I would love to lose 50 lbs. It is not easy, though.
-
Im am 6'ft tall and I weigh 185 but I would like to lose about 10-15 lbs then I would be my perfect weight. My biggest problem is that I have serious back problems and I can only do low impact exercises like walking, swimming, etc, but, if i could I would do something like P90X, Turbofire or Insanity.
-
I am 6'2" 212 and would like to add another 20 pounds or so. It is difficult for me to gain though as I don't seem to have any predisposition to pack on fat (am getting older though and I know that will change) and have to train harshly and eat tremendous amounts to gain weight (and to some extent to maintain it).
-
I'm 5' 2" and weigh between 158-163 (fluctuates over time). I'd like to try to pull down to hover more around 150, but mostly due to my current sport of choice (figure skating) - less weight means less I have to jump into the air ;D
I can't go by the charts which all tell me I'm overweight based on my height/weight ratios because those formulas don't take into account actual lean muscle mass, which I have more than the average person due to my training. One thing I learned for weight loss is the following:
1. Less calorie intake (the obvious), but not only concentrate on the quantity of food, but the quality of it. (Why is it that you only feel like eating one banana, but a whole box of chips...? The better the food, in general, you naturally will eat less because it provides your body what it needs with less intake.
2. Increase cardio - evaluate what cardio exercise you are doing, and find a way to increase it (add an extra day, extend current sessions an extra 10-15 minutes). By upping activity slowly, it increases your chance of successfully incorporating it as a habit rather than trying for a max routine and slowly giving it up.
3. Weight/Strength training - this is needed to increase muscle mass which allows your body to burn calories more efficiently - plus it just makes you healthier and more energetic. This can be traditional weights, or could be programs like pilates or yoga.
What I found when incorporating #3 into my routine, depending on how much strength training you do, you may go through a phase where your weight appears to go up vs down - and that will mainly be due to the fact that muscle weighs more than fat - so don't panic. If that happens, judge by how you feel and how your clothes fit. It the scale goes up, but your waistline seems to be going down - you're going in the right direction.
For cardio - I found using an activity I found fun to do as the best way to make it a habit. First was ballroom dancing (in fact most any dancing will get your heart rate going), then rock climbing, now it's figure skating. If you find some activity (like martial arts, team sport, dancing, anything that gets you moving), and it's something you've always wanted to do or learn, you'll be more apt to put in the effort to keep with it. Then as you are learning and improving in the sport, the side effect is usually your weight going down. To what degree depends on the sport and how often you participate (as well as how well items #1 and #3 are doing in combination ;) )
Pretty much the same old/same old everyone says - making the decision to commit to this is the first step, then consistency with sticking to it is the second. Don't weigh yourself every week or so, make it more of a monthly or quarterly check in - that way you won't get as discouraged by the week to week fluctuations that often will occur.

I want to lose what I gained during my pregnancy. I gained about 37 lbs. I need to lose about 5 more. Then that will motivate me to lose even more weight like the 10 I gained when I started dating/living with/then marrying my husband!
-
I'm 5 foot and weigh 110 pounds...but for my body frame, I need to loose about 5 pounds.
-
I need to lose a bunch....again...I do the best on Weight Watchers. I've tried their new Points Plus and lost about 20 lbs and couldn't go any further so a couple of weeks ago I went back to my old standby of their Flex Points program. The secret to my success has always been..."if you bite it...write it". I keep a written log of every morsel I eat. I lost about 100 lbs on that program a few years ago but then some of it crept back on.....again. :dontknow: :dontknow:

I'm 5'8" and around 140 pounds. But I can tell its all beginning to go to my stomach. Between ages I always increase my personal weight range by 10 pounds, but since I'm just now beginning my adult life I shouldn't be adding too much more weight onto what I have. Most of my body is surprisingly evened out because I'm so thin. Sometimes I'm afraid that being this thin and then getting sick will really hit me hard soon. I've had that happen once before and all it was, was a rough cold that kept me in bed for a day. I felt so weak and hazy the next day I didn't even know if I could stand walking up and down 6 flights of stairs all day for school!
I have a serious problem with getting a routine, so I have terrible stamina and strength. I'm basically an average weakling. But I've been trying out the Wii Fit and trying to stretch every morning. A few days ago I walked about 3 miles around my town picking up job applications with a friend, and when I came home I felt fine, excluding my feet hurting a little. I woke up the next morning and it felt like my whole body got beat with a pole! My legs honestly still hurt, but I'm trying to stretch out the muscle so I can at least sit on my knees without my muscles screaming at me. :P

When I was real serious into body building/strength training I developed this problem where I didn't feel right if I couldn't induce the delayed onset muscle syndrome like you describe. It is amazing how addictive that pain can become or possibly how addictive the use of that as a scale for training perhaps is a better choice of words. Even though I knew that DOMS wasn't necessary for progression I still craved it and couldn't feel quite satisfied without it. I am not that way anymore and have reduced my training quite a bit as I knew I was becoming obsessed and too much of a fan of mirrors.

I'm 33 years old, 5 feet tall. I maintain at 112 pounds. I have an athletic build, I'm a marathon runner. I eat a lot, but the amount I run (40-50 miles a week) negates a lot of that. I don't go "crazy" with food any more like I used to.
-
WOW squirralgirl you put us all to shame. I can stand to lose a good 50 lbs, so far I lost 6 and want to keep going down but now with winter coming I really need to focus more!!....hey we can do this!

[I am not telling a bunch of people my weight, ha ha, my mom already told everyone I was on a diet on facebook, got to love having your mom on facebook. but yeah we are getting ready to go on vacation next week and I been trying to lose some, not too successful though, my husband keeps buying me junk food, I think he doesn't want me to lose weight, probably jealous I will go get someone else, like my mother did when her husband cheated on her.

Never heard of someone who was actually into body building, at least big time. But I suppose everyone has their days. What made you stop since then?

I'm 5'1 and 110 pounds. I eat smaller portions of meals 5 times a day. I jog in the morning and bike after school. I don't really eat meat because I don't really like the taste, but I do eat fish a lot.

Well, I don't know exactly how to address this topic. I had a baby 5 weeks ago, so of course I want to lose weight. I didn't exercise as much as I wanted to while pregnant, but I wasn't exactly sedentary either because I have 5 other kids with whom I must keep up. I think I was 190 the week before he was born, and about 170 a week or so after he was born. I think I'm around 165 now. Still, I should be around 135ish. So, I have started walking as often as I can. I eat snacks a few times a day and keep my meals small. I've heard that I should, as a nursing mom, eat about 300 calories more than I did before I was pregnant. It's hard to put 300 calories into perspective, so I do read the labels and try to stay at or under that 300 extra per day. Speaking of him... he's crying so I'll stop here.

I'm slim and trim and don't need to lose weight.

I am six foot tall and two hundred and fifteen pounds. One year and eleven days ago I was one hundred and eighty four pounds. I broke my foot last year and have been suffering the consequences ever since. I have had to get larger pants and get my current waist lines expanded. I started doing a minimum of thirty minutes of cardio ten days ago and have managed to get down to two hundred and ten pounds. I am going to keep that up as well as watching what I eat until I get down to one hundred and ninety pounds. Let me know if you want daily encouragement to do the same?

Im 5'4 and 150lbs my goal is to lose 30lbs by christmas. Ive never had kids but I have what ya call child bearing hips with a ghetto booty lol. I would love to get toned and tightened by then.
-
Current weight: 210lbs. When I was 13, I was up around the 270-280 range and starting running, dieting, playing sports and dropped down to about 180 over 5 years. The past two years I've been weightlifting and eating a lot of lean protein and put on 30lbs of muscle.

Well as you may be able to see in my photo I will not list my weight but I am incredibly overweight! I am currently trying to go to appointments and get my lab work started to see whether or not I have Thyroid Disease, but hopefully all goes well with me! I do not eat alot and I drink lots of water and I exercise occasionally. However, I do not understand why I am at a constant weight gain! With the help of doctors, friends, and faith in god, I will succeed one day. When that day comes, I'll post my weight and before and after pictures for everyone here on FC to view! I will not give up!!!!

I am 120 but only 5 foot tall so I am overweight and trying to loose about 15 pounds. I was doing great until I had a back injury and now it is very hard since I am limited as to what I can do.

I was overtraining and had some injuries that were lasting for over a year (worst was internal oblique that didn't so much as hurt but felt very strange and was impossible to go a day without being aware of it). Now understand I wasn't taking any pharmaceuticals to assist my training and I worked a regular job so there is only so much the body can handle and recover from. I also primarily did targeted positive muscle failure (where I had a target number of reps with a predetermined weight and I would perform controlled and timed movements until I reached positive failure (failed to finish the rep). If I could beat my target range I would increase weight for the next gym session by a small amount). Always pushing every day to beat a previous performance can strain the mind and days where for unknown reasons you perform worse can seem frustrating (and sometimes devastating if repeated on multiple sessions of that groups training).

I would kill to have your body type and weight ;D I'm 4ft 11 in and weight about 160-165 lbs! My goal is to lose about 20-25 lbs; I have a large frame so modern weight charts allow for those extra lbs. If I had an average body frame, the goal would be to reach 115 lbs. I don't look terribly fat either; it's hiding in my hips, thighs and butt rather than on my stomach. I'm more worried about my general health.
If you don't know your body frame off-hand, a simple way to estimate which type (small, average, large): hold your wrist with your other hand; if your fingers cannot touch, you have a large frame for your height, if your fingers can touch your thumb, it's an average body type; if your fingers continue on past the end of your thumb, you have a slim body frame.
This test only really works if there's not much fat on your wrists, as it's the thickness of your bones your worried about.
If you have a large frame, add 15-20 lbs (average) to your expected weight for your height. If you have a slim frame, subtract 15 or so lbs.

i am 42 and am 5ft-5 and way 135, we moved in town last year and i have dropped 12 pounds from living in town and walking everywhere, so i am happy with my weight at the moment.
-
I am 5' 6" and I am 155. I want to lose a good 10lbs. I have tried a few different things. But the only thing that works for me is eating low carb and exercise. Problem is I LOVE sugar, and I am lazy. So it's been hard. But I try to take one day at a time.
-
Right now i'm at 170 but i need to lose about 10 to 15 lbs. Also for my health. Need to get in shape.
-
I would love to lose just 20 to 50 lbs. I'm not big but just need too. :)
-
I just dropped 50 lbs. over the past 5 months. Came off rather easy since I wasn't really trying to lose it. Changed my eating habits. I need to make sure I keep it off before I buy new clothes. Feels strange having them hanging on me.
-
i have weighed between 90 and 98 for so long. when i got pregnant i was so happy i gained weight because ppl were always calling me anorexic, no matter how much i ate. after giving birth i weighed about 130. i now weigh 100. i wish i can go back to at least 120 but nothing works.
-
I would like to lose 15lbs
-
I'm 5' 4" and weigh 124. I weigh a lot more than I used to but I think I look healthier now. Even though I don't need to loose weight, I have to do something to my post child birth flabby belly. :confused1:
-
I'm 5'9" and weigh less than 130. If I eat sweets and chips that changes, so I lay off!
-
5"8 150lbs
-
I'm 5'8" and I was 220lbs several months ago at my heaviest weight. Now I am 205lbs. Although I didn't lose enough weight to make any difference on my clothing. I still wear the same size as before. It is much easier for me to lose weight in the summer but I don't know what I will do when the bad weather comes. I would really like to be back down to 180lbs at least since that was my weight in high school but I hate running and exercise unless it is an activity. Lately I have been gardening, painting and cleaning house that give my some exercise but I am sure that isn't enough.
-
I am just under 6 ft. tall and only weigh 120.....have been this way all my life...would love to gain a little bit of weight just so it would be a little easier to find clothes to fit...but otherwise I like this size...I can ....and do....eat anything I want whenever I want. lol :P
-
i,m 6 ft weighing 230lbs and trying to lose weight
-
This is kind of a depressing topic...
-
not listing my weight ;D but i've recently lost 32lbs in just over a month and a half. the only real change i've made is i drink LOTSSSS of water every day, cut almost all of my soft drinks out and have started walking a couple of days a week. :)
-
I USED TO WEIGH 350 NOW I'M 180...HARD, HARD WORK
-
I could probably lose 20 lbs just to be easier on my knees (genetic osteoarthritis) but I like the way I look. My husband thinks i'm "hot" plus my kids are still little so I can get away with the "baby weight" excuse--my sister lost her baby weight in 2 weeks both times--but I like to eat and haven't found an excercise routine I like. I'm fairly strong from playing with my kids, but I would like to be able to have more stamina and such. be better to my  to have an excersize routine. I just don't want to start one I know I can't stick with. :fish:
-
I USED TO WEIGH 350 NOW I'M 180...HARD, HARD WORK
I freaking worship you. Like you're my new goal. That takes so much willpower :). I only need to lose 5-20 but that's still enough for me to want to look to someone for it.
-
I'm about 208 pounds right now but would like to get to a healthy 195 toned body. We'll see what happens in the coming months!
-
when i come back from vacation i gain 3 lbs but now i lose it again i'm back to 108lbs...

-
I think I am fine at my current weight. I have recently a few short weeks lost up to 10 lbs. I’ve been told to not lose anymore. People say I look skinny, but I don't think so.
-
Right now im at 110lbs and im 5'4. I wish I can get more toned though cause I might be skinny and all that but i dont feel healthy. I eat way to many junk food I have to start watching my health because all my family members have diabetes.
-
I'm about 190 pounds which doesn't sound too bad until I explain that I'm only 5 foot 6 and a half. Yes, I try to explain it away by stating that I'm "stocky" or "big-boned", but when I think honestly about it, I realize I could use about a quarter of myself and still not be in much threat of starving to death. I guess that would equate to weighing about 160 pounds or so.
-
I've lost 11 pounds since I started this topic last month and am now 209 lbs. 8) 11 pounds might not be that much for an entire month, but I'm very happy so far. My goal is now 195 and think it can be done. I take Oxyproelite to curb my hunger and give me extra energy. It says it speeds up the metabolism, but of course I can't verify this claim.
-
I am 5" 10' and weight 188, I would like to get down to 175 at least. I have always felt better when I was 165-175 Lbs. Had more energy. I don't feel that I am overweight but, would like to loose about 15 lbs
-
I'm 5'1 and weigh ll6. I really don't want to lose weight but if I drop a couple pounds thats okay!
-
I'm 5 ft.7 and weigh 142 pounds and would like to lose about 12 pounds. I have a stack of jeans I can't get into. I've been cutting back on my evening eating and getting up during the night and munching on junk.
-
I USED TO WEIGH 350 NOW I'M 180...HARD, HARD WORK
Wow!! That is something to be very proud of!!!  :notworthy:

5'4, 115 pounds. I need to work out more to gain some muscle mass
-
I lost 10 pounds in 5 days. Ten more plus to go!
