I have one gift already, I already have in mind what I'm getting for everyone else, so excited to surprise everyone!!!
-
I already had a few gifts for my grandkids but today I went to Cranfest and bought a bunch more!! I love Christmas and coming up with the perfect gifts for my family!
-
I bought some gifts at the After-Christmas sales and put them in storage. I also go to Clearance/Sale sections in stores and buy gifts throughout the year. There are also a lot of toys on sale after Easter. I try to customize my gifts for family members. Many women in my family stick to one or two perfumes so this is not hard to do. Many of my family members love scented candles too :-)
-
When I had a really great paying job I would shop throughout the year. If I happen to hit a good clearance or sale I will now however I think we'll be doing the majority of our shopping at Kohl's this year. The fiancee got a Kohl's card last year and everytime we receive a 30% off in the mail we head in so I think that's how we'll do it

Have been overwhelmed for the past several months with my mom's cancer and her death the end of May. I am hoping to have her house fixed up in time to decorate, didn't even decorate the last several years due to so many family problems and now since my mom's death have not even heard from my sister or brother. Sorry not trying to make this post a bummer, because I am going to make cookies, I am going to put up a tree and I am going to buy everyone something. So lol I guess in answer to the question, don't have any specific gift ideas yet but they are coming because I am blessed and things have been rough but they could have been worse and I have a lot to be thankful for. Alot of people came over to spend a day with my mom and pray with her before she passed and I am planning on having a christmas party and inviting those people to honor my mom. So NO bah humbug for me, this year, Christmas is going to be wonderful.

I'm bored and disgusted with Christmas, had enough.

-
I usually buy lottery scratchers and put them all over my tree and buy gift cards and hang them on my tree and make my whole family take a turn and look for their names...lol....I get gift cards from every where....even restaurants, department stores, shoe stores, movies, and day passes to amusement parks....My family is able able to make the decisions for themselves as what they want to buy and when... no long lines for returns...
The lottery scratchers are too fun....someone always hits something good from 1.00 to 300.00 or more. The most was 300.00...lol...last year...
-
just prayful that me and my kids have lived to see another christmas this year.

i usually start Christmas shopping and choosing by now, but not this year. I have more free time and I'm downsizing gift wise.
-
Well Wal-mart in my area closed down the layaway but I recently found out starting in early October they will be giving it back. So, I'm super excited and cannot wait to begin Christmas shopping! I have a small family to buy for and included is only one child (who is 3) so I'm sure he will enjoy the tons of many gifts I will purchase for him. My gifts ideas include lots of toys, games, and clothes!
-
I have a very large family that I have to buy for. SO, this year to make it easier on myself (since I work full time) I am getting GIFT CARDS FOR EVERYONE!!! I can pick them up at my local grocery store too. I am so tired of trying please people, so this way, THEY CAN PICK WHAT THEY WANT!!! I know that it's not very fun, but that's what I always ask for!!!
-
I love lighting up the season. I have never celebrated Christmas in the "gift giving" fashion. I do however believe in giving books, candles, socks and foods of some sort if I do give presents.....Happy Holidays!

:)i already have many ideas but money is not here yet

I keep seeing ads that K-Mart still has their layaway plan available. Sometimes they carry the same things as Walmart in terms of toys and basics like socks and underwear or even kids clothes. I have found a few unique things there once in a while. I managed to get one of the snuggies a couple years ago for my mother on the black Friday sale when the regular price and the TV price was around $15 plus shipping for TV orders, but I think they took it down to 7.99 or 9.99 just for the early morning hours that FRiday. It takes some strategy to seek out the best deals. I also used to be one that combed clearance all year long as well but then that was also when things were better economically for me. Now, with the adults we have agreed that cards good health is enough between us and if we are able to all be together we take that as a blessing. We have turned our focus to the children and still try to make it a magical time for them. It seems to have worked pretty well the past couple of years. So we will probably continue it. Take care.
-
Like the gift card idea- have not purchased anything yet, do a lot of shopping on Black friday

I can somewhat relate to where you are coming from. With all the commercial attention that the holiday receives starting in August in some stores, it is hard to remain excited about the holiday by the time it gets here. I think it is also a matter that many of us set pretty high expectations of what we should be doing in order to have the "perfect" or "Norman Rockwell" Holiday and that is often unrealistic. In my family we have agreed that cards and good health are good enough for the adults and we have turned our attention to making the holidays special and magical for the children. That has tended to work for us and I think we will continue it. If it is possible to gather us all together from the various parts of the country where we all live, that is just an additional bonus. It doesn't always happen but when it does it is magical and keeps us connected to what we feel is the more important part of the holiday season. It is hard to be a GRinch sometimes but then it is also easily understood. Hope you are able to find a place that works for you to find some joy even if just for a small moment during the upcoming holidays. Everyone deserves a little peace and joy in their life. Even if it is just for one or two minutes to take a time out and listen to a favorite Christmas song, really push yourself to embrace it and see if it helps? Maybe it will maybe it won't but you won't know for sure unless you give it a chance. If it is something that has fallen away from your UNiversal world outlook then that is a different matter. Maybe just a moment with a child in a hospital or orphanage would be beneficial to the process. Then again, if you wish to walk away from celebration of the holidays all together, and it has been a well thought out decision, those around you should respect that too. Whatever happens for you I hope that you have peace and love in your life from wherever you are able to find it. Take care.

I have the major family members (mom-in-law, dad-in-law, and the 4 sisters-in-laws) done already. I used take money to buy their stuff.
As for the kids and the 4 sisters-in-laws husbands/boyfriends, I am make my own gift basket for them. Popcorn tins from Wal-mart, cocoa, and their favorite candy (to make each on different). Will probably get gift bags or gift boxes to put the stuff in, but no sure yet.
Last year we got everyone coffee/tea/cocoa and a nice mug they could use all year.
-
i have learned that either gift cards or money is the best way to go that way they get what they want and they won't have to return anything to
-
This year i will actually give out gift bags. Recenlty i have been getting a lot of free/cheap personal care and household items from couponing so i will give those out. I have also been checking out all the clearance items that are in stores.

Well I'm looking forward to Christmas now but for the last 13 years I didn't enjoy it. I am 24 years old and my father passed on Christmas day when I was only 10 years old. Now I have a nephew (who is 3) who can now start to enjoy such holidays. So I'm definitely looking forward to it....and he also celebrates a birthday 3 days prior. So I feel down a while when Christmas comes around cause I miss my daddy completely but in the back of my head I think that Jesus has blessed my family with us receiving my nephew. I'm looking forward to Christmas this year and all the other holidays to come!
-
This year Christmas is going to be a little different...My husband gets deployed the week before Thanksgiving and will not be back until next April. This is the first time he has been deployed during the holidays. We have 3 kids so I have to put on a smile and make it the best for them.......
-
I have some gift ideas for Christmas. I plan on cashing out at the end of the month and use my fusion check towards presents! Normally I would have started buying thru out the year but it' s been hard this year not working and all. But the holidays are always a great time! Im going to get my daughter this fisher price kitchen play set lol shes going to love it! Not really too sure on what to get the hubby this year tho lol

so very sorry to hear that, please thank him for all he does and thank YOU for being so supportive of him. i hope your christmas still turns out to be the best that it can be, hugs.
we get together with our families, but since money is tight for everyone these days...we do the chinese gift bag thing. everyone buys a gift card, we toss them all in a bag and then draw one out. the next person to draw gets to choose if they want to keep the card they got, or take the one that the person drew before them...it goes along until everyone has drawn and has a card. gets interesting sometimes!
-
So many ideas, but need to make some money :-[ any ides out thre to help?
-
I have all my gift shopping done!! :) So happy that I am done.

WTG!!!

We are pretty broke this year, with my husband being the only one working. Daycare began costing more than what I was earning. :( So I'm waiting for black Friday sales adds before I think about gift ideas. My sister in law and I are planning on shopping till we drop on black Friday. Hopefully I can get everyone done cheaply. Only for my hubby and kids though. I am crocheting everyone else a set of dish cloths and butterfly bookmarks, easy and cheap.

Call me a Scrooge, call me a 'witch', call me whatever you want, but it is bad enough seeing this Christmas crap already invading the stores and TV. Now we already have a thread about it on FC?! Aaaarrrgghh.....I wish there was a way to BLOCK all discussions of this from even showing up on my computer when I am here. :angry7: Gee, why don't we start discussing Easter? It IS October after all.
Note: I am NOT downing the OP personally for posting this. I would say the same thing no matter who did it!

All I picture is my money jumpping down the toilet :(

Well it is a free society (some what), so don't read all the Christmas Stuff, your choice it seems. Anyway,............ Merry Christmas.

I love Christmas and generally have all of my shopping done by November. I don't like not having money around Christmas time so I start shopping early.

You are absolutely spot on, Garydh. Believe it or not, I happen to love the holiday, but NOT because of all the money that gets poured into it. It also bothers me (more than I can express) to see and hear people who cannot afford it putting themselves even further in debt because they are made to feel 'obligated' by our society to do it. Thanks for calling me out on that one! ;)

OK, what do you do regarding Freelance writing? I mean for who in particular? And do you seel your article or just hope you get paid for it? I am just wondering how it works. Your reply would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

I haven't even started yet. I have a 4 year old so of course I plan to give him a nice Christmas as usual BUT this year it is so tough trying to afford it all.
-
for the past two years i really wasn't able to give out much gifts but this year is gonna be different. I've already started shopping for my gift bags. With couponing i have been able to get a lot of things for FREE or up to $1. I've also found good deals for items online. So far i have spent about $20 and have a nice stash to put in gift bags. I have body wash, razors, air wick freshmatics, nail polish, 6 piece shot glass set, 8 piece mixing bowl set, children dvd's ... A lot of it i pay for with money i earn from Fc and other survey sites

Yep, im getting my mom a pantsuit, my dad a personalized Vistaprint t-shirt, my bro a giftcard and a handmade scarve, my bro's girlfriend some shoes, handmade jewelry, scarve, giftcard, and makeup, she really helped us out so imma hook her up, lol
-
It has been my past experience that you can never go wrong with a gift card. Even if you are not best friends with the person you are wanting the gift idea for, surely you have heard them mention a favorite resturant or clothing store in which they like to shop. Just pay attention to them when they are talking to you. You can ask questions about certain establishmens to get an idea of what the person likes.
-
Although Gift cards seem so impersonal when purchasing them for some one else, I always like to receive them.
DID YOU KNOW- thousands of dollars if gift cards go unredeemed every year. Try to find cards with no expiration date.
-
I will do a lot of baking for Christmas. Everyone in my family expects baked goods for presents this year, and I am going to try some new recipes. I do a lot of home made gift jars and such.
-
i think a gift card is a really good idea! what if u bought someone something that they either didn't like or it wasn't there size(too small, too big) although a gift card can mean your not trying hard but it also say's that you have that person in mind!
-

Your idea is similar to mine I crochet gifts for all the people on my list.... my family and friends really like new mittens and hats this year besides those items I am trying out place mats and coasters which are really fast to do We can all use coasters So that is what I am doing Does any one else make their gifts????

nice.
I think anyone can get these free bids
through tomorrow (Sunday)
Look me up i'll give you the info if you

I just purchased a coffee mug online for my father in law with the grandchildren's pictures on it. It is really cute.
-
No, not yet, I am not going to be a bah humbug and try to bring everyone down, I just hope that I can get into more of a christmas spirit before Christmas....My Mom passed away back in May and it seems that now everyone left in the family is copping attitudes and not having anything to do with each other......regardless I have two wonderful grown sons and a husband but I am a little down because of my brother and sister and their grown kids. Nonetheless I wanted to have a Christmas party for all the wonderful people who did show my mom support in her last days which would have been the very people you wouldn't have expected to! I don't know if I can pull it together or not but I'm going to try. Anyway, here's wishing in advance that each and every one of you have a wonderful, happy and blessed Christmas
-
not me that is a whiteman's holiday that is just commercial.
-
I only have a few people I'm buying for this year and other's I'm just making things for. I'm going to grab a couple of clearance toys for my 9-month-old, who will be almost a year when it's christmas and my boyfriend loves drawing so I'm going to grab him a really good, leather bound sketch pad and really good sketching pencils. Also, he loves Dr.Who, so I'm getting him a thing for his car that says "Tardis". I'm going to be making my friends a bunch of jewelry, which usually ends up being pretty cheap because a nice set of earrings costs maybe $5 or less to make!
-
Since funds are very limited in my house, I plan on baking bread, cookies, snack bars and even home made beef jerky for my family for Christmas.
-
I will hit the layaway dept. first, then hmm..I have no idea..sooo please keep posting...LOL :dontknow:
-
Haven't thought to much about yet. Considering I don't have a job it's kind of hard to think about that. Just got a call for an interview hopefully that turns into something good ;D
-
I have one gift already, I already have in mind what I'm getting for everyone else, so excited to surprise everyone!!!
Since I crochet I will and/am making all my christmas gifts I have 3 vests to make 2 sweaters to finish and mittens and several other items to finish I start things during the year and then put them away and have to go and see what I have so I will be able to make things a priority I have never had any one not like a hand made gift so I am pretty excited by all this no crowds no gas or parking problems when I do go to the Mall I can just people watch and window shop now that is some thing I look forward to doing.
-
I think a box of condoms to everyone is a great idea! Enough babies already.
-
gift cards are always the easiest thing to give. even for the pickiest relatives!
-
I love christmas and I have many gift ideas but I did not make any purchases yet that are big!!! Have fun and happy holidays!!
-
I am not sure yet what I will get for Christmas this year. I think I should start now any idea for gifts ??
-
I am one of those last minute people. I probably won't do any shopping until like a wwek before Christmas. I don't have any kids and I am not married so, I don't feel obligated to buy any gifts.
-
gift cards are always the easiest thing to give. even for the pickiest relatives!
I agree! You don't have to worry about what size, style or color clothes to get. Any other types of items...you don't have to worry about if they already have it or if they will like it or not. I know you can give them a gift receipt and they can exchange it for something else, but gift cards make it simple. If they don't like the type of gift card, they can sell or trade it with someone. If they still complain, they won't have to worry about me buying another gift in the future.
-
Everyone on my list will get a much needed vacation. With some luck and planning we all might get going to the same place. :)
-
I pick up things all during the year when I see something that someone might want or use. I love to give my daughter and family funny gifts, My grandson always gets such a kick out of them. They get nice gifts too.

:notworthy:  :angel12: I plan on doing something real special for the hubby. He will be so suprise!!! My son gets spoiled rotten everychristams so his list is small this year, but he will get more of what he needs instead of what he wants... Who elase has plans for that special someone??? :angel12:
-
I have two gifts so far. Got a ways to go to finish!
-
I already started my christmas shopping put all my gifts on layaway..Thanks to fusion cash :)
-

Trying to make a little extra cash here at holiday time.
ToastyWarmScarves are on facebook if you would like to take a look.
Who doesn't like a toastywarmscarve??
Loom knitting is such a great therapy :angel11:
-
I usually didn't do anything for Christmas shopping until Black Friday. I tried to enjoy Thanksgiving and then go all out on Christmas and New Years. Now it is just a depressing time to get through and am glad when it's over.
-
christmas is all year to me. people get gifts when I can get them one. I think christmas is commercialized. so I dont play it.
-
I have all my nieces and nephews done for Christmas. With teenagers I find money works best. I also have a couple of small gifts for each of them.
For many of my friends I usually do a lot of baking-cookies, breads etc. Then we go out for a Christmas lunch.
In the past I have taken care of the kids so my brother and sister-in-law to go away for a weekend.
Still have some shopping to do I guess. :peace:
-
I have already gotten a few gifts for the kids. I have ordered some online and am waiting for them to be shipped. I usually bake cookies and make candies for extended family and friends.
-
:wave:Christmas is not about buying and receiving many gifts. It's about being together with loved ones and helping those less fortunate. And, who can honestly afford that many gifts anymore. Will not go into debt over this...that's for sure. :angel12:
-
give the gift of a link to fusion cash
-
No more Christmas for me. Shepherds would not be in the fields watching sheep in the middle of winter. The sheep would be in corrals save and warm. Jesus was not born on Dec. 25th. It is only a commercial holiday to get your money.
-
I have already finished with my Holiday purchases! Yaaayyy me. ;D
