That is the biggest health scare. So many people getting very sick from eating it. I had some in my refrigerator and have not been able to eat it even though my grocery store chain supposedly did not buy from there. Are you still eating it?
-
I passed it up at the market. The scare is much too great to take chances on eating any right now. :dontknow:I'm sure that if they destroyed the farm and have recalled the rest , that things will get better, although some of the people had eaten it thirty days before their illness. :dontknow:
-
Yes it is pretty crazy. I havent eaten any cantilope since I heard about this, and thats too bad cause I like it
-
family loves it but were not getting none this year
-
Every now and then I like it. I wouldn't want to eat it every day.
-
We have continued to eat cantaloupe but we are certainly washing it better.
-
I'm kinda scared of all the disease that they are finding in things these days. I like cantaloupe but will avoid it for awhile till the see what the problem is. :sad1:
-
Not now for now. I'm also not eating ground turkey, romaine lettuce, and tyson beef which has been in the news too recently on the recall or do not eat for now list.
-
I decided not to take a stroll in the park today because people who are outside tend to get struck by lightning. I don't let fear rule my life. Unless I it is for certain that what I am about to eat will poison and kill me I usually don't pay attention to things like this. Until I see people die around me after eating a cantaloupe I will assume that the chances of someone running over me at the supermarket parking lot to be greater than the chances of dieing from eating something.
-
I haven't heard about the cantaloupe scare
-
I am currently not eating cantaloupe but will definitely eat it in the future when all this illness and spreading of a virus cease because it is a very tasty fruit when ripe.
-
I just bought a cantaloupe last week but that evening that I bought it I heard about a man in my state who died from listeria from eating cantaloupe. Before I heard about it I did taste the watermelon and it wasn't ripe so I'm not going to eat it. It's still sitting in my fridge.
-
it is a bland fruit; not much taste.
-
As much as we love cantaloupe we r passing it up it it isreally scarey thinkin like that can make you so sick
-
I don't cantaloupe anyway so the scare really doesn't effect. I just don't like it anymore even though it use to be good when I was younger.
-
No not anymore. I use to wonder way I would get sick. Now I know want be eating them anymore.
-
After I heard people had died from eating the ones from Colorado I haven't touched one. There are so many other kinds of fruit out there, I say why risk it?
-
I love cantaloupe but I havent bought any since the health scare! I don't care to take that chance!
-
I am not eating..I have one in my refrigerator..after hearing so much of health issues I will throw it today.
-
I never liked the stuff so I never eat it
-
Maybe if the outside is washed off thoroughly, it would be okay. I read that contamination comes from a knife going through the rind to the inside.
-
have bought and eaten it also gave to my child and no one has gotten sick, good luck.
-
I am passing on cantaloupe for a while but like the Chilean grapes, this will pass.
-
I don't like it so no problem here. I always wash my produce very well. Even watermelon that I'm going to cut into. I see many people just cut right into the watermelon and start serving it. There is so much junk on the outside of our foods that it's just common sense to wash it. I even wash meat before packing it to freeze or cook. I mean, how often do meat markets wash their knives and slicing blades during the day?
-
I had forgot about that, just bought one, haven't eaten it yet. Thanks for remimding me

Why would you risk eating any fruit? Anything you eat that isn't cook has the possibility of being contaminated by anything. The fact that they might have found one in which someone did die from a contamination would probably be safer to eat. Believe it or not, big corporations do not want their customers to die. More than likely by now any cantaloupe that was contaminated are either no longer in the market or are very scarce. The chances that another fruit may have a contamination is at least as likely. In fact, you may be at greater risk for eating a fruit which no one knows is contaminated or not. If you really want to make sure you're not going to die then wash all your fruit throughly.
Heres an idea: Eat whatever you want, and unless you know for sure what you are eating is going to kill you, then don't worry about the risk involved. Life if full of too many risk to be limiting what you'd like to do based off of fear.

Give it to a homeless person. I'm sure they wouldn't care about the contamination if they're starving to death.
-
Loved to but dont see any for sale in Colorado... :o
-
no not at all. but then again i dont really buy that
-
I find myself afraid of it, its really scary to think about all the illnesses and deaths due to it.
-
