 >:(A Woman should be able to do whatever she wants with their body except get an abortion. Because when a woman gets an abortion she is  destroying a chance for one life to live.

Who are you to tell anyone else what they can and can't do with their life?  If you don't want/need an abortion fine don't get one that's your business but don't tell anyone else how they should live their life.  You want to take in all those unwanted children?  You want to feed and clothe them and provide a roof over their heads?  Go right ahead you can tell women everywhere not to have abortions because you will take care of the child.

Shouldn't this be in the "Debate" subforum?

Anyways, I'm pro-choice, a woman can have as many abortions as she wants, for any reason she wants. Don't care if it's rape or as a form of birth control, as goofy as that sounds. If they can afford it, more power to them.
It's not a choice I'd utilize for myself, but I won't look down on someone who chooses it or try to force my view on anyone else.

It's not like there's a shortage of people on the planet.

I agree that this should be in the Debate section (along with all of the political threads that are appearing here).

As to the topic itself, I think Roe vs. Wade was a horrible case, not because I am pro-life (although I am), but because the federal government shouldn't have held the jurisdiction over abortion in the first place. There is nothing to abortion that would make it a federal case: you don't start the operation in one state and complete it in another, etc. As with most other legalities of an individual nature like this, it should be held at most by the states, and the best circumstances at county and municipal governments. The 10th Amendment to the constitution stipulates that powers not specified by the constitution are reserved to the states and its people. For example, murder is illegal, but the laws against murder are held, for the most part, by the states. Same with prostitution (which is why some states, like Nevada, has it legal). What Roe vs Wade did, however, was to pull that control out of the states hands and place it in the hands of the federal government. Now the federal government dictates that abortion clinics have to be allowed to open in every state, even if the people of that state (or even city) do not want it. I think that when the case was presented to the Supreme Court, they should have declined to rule on it, stating that the jurisdiction rightly belongs to the states. That way if Utah, for instance, wishes to prohibit abortion, they are allowed to do so, likewise California may allow it in much the same way that prostitution is legal in Nevada but not in New York. Ideally it should be left to the cities / counties that determine whether they want to allow abortion. That way if a town / county has people of the same mindset that believe abortion is wrong, they can make a law prohibiting abortion in that city, much like dry counties that prohibit alcohol.

I'm up in the air about this subject. On one hand it is a woman's body and she has a right to do as she pleases with her body. And on the other hand I feel that abortion is not birth control and people need to realize that.

as a woman, i feel like there shouldnt be any rights taken away. as a mother who is angered every time she sees someone beating their kids or too drugged up to take care of them, i wonder why they didnt abort.
I've joked about it several times, but maybe there should be a mandatory birth control for all people of child-bearing age until they can be sure they want a child.

When a woman has an abortion she doesn't give the baby any say in the matter.  Maybe the baby would like to live.

I believe that a woman should have a choice to do whatever she wants with her body until she reaches her third tri-mester.  During the third tri-mester you are carrying a fullly formed fetus and have had one hundred and eighty days with which to decide what to do with it.  I, myself, couldn't extinguish a life at any point during a pregnancy but I don't believe a woman should be forced to conceive under any circumstance up until her 181st day.  I also believe that abortion shouldn't be used as birth control.  A person should be outlawed from having more than three abortions.

I believe it is a woman's right of CHOICE.  Personally; I could not.  But; I would never presume to tell another woman.  She is the one that has to live with the choice!

This is a very touchy subject.  I think that ultimately one should be responsible and have the choice to do what they want.  At the end of the day each of us will have to answer to God!

I wonder how peoples views would change if they also extended this 'right to choice' to men?  I mean if the matter is so trivial as is often positioned by the pro abortion side then shouldn't the man also have the right to choose an abortion?  I can hear the objections already but let us say that the man can advocate the position and if the woman choose otherwise then the man has no responsibilities or obligations to the child's future.

Personally I am anti abortion, except for the extreme cases.  In general I don't hold much value for a woman that would readily have an abortion out of convenience issues.  Such a person rates the same as the typical murderer to me and less in some instances.  I do believe in forgiveness but that doesn't mean I have to forgive a person that doesn't acknowledge wrongdoing.  I also do not have to trust being around such a person that could so readily "eat their young" so to speak.

Additionally I would readily agree that any woman who had an abortion (outside of the extremes) should be fixed to never be able to have children again (as should any man that holds the position to be perfectly fine).  I know my position might seem harsh to many but I at least am telling you how I see it and how I feel about it.  I am not without my own crimes and it would be a fair question to ask if I hold myself to the same standards -- and it is a question that I cannot positively answer a 'yes' to so perhaps even I see myself as harsh with this.

Sad way to look at it.  I couldn't do it, but I don't judge those that have.  I think a woman has the right to choose, and she especially has the right to have it done safely.

At the time you have an abortion, the baby could NEVER survive outside the womb. It is not a whole person. It has no thoughts. It doesn't "want to live". It has no awareness of what is going on.

If someone I loved, heaven forbid, got raped, I would fully support their decision to get an abortion. It is THEIR body. It is THEIR life. I have no say, nor does anyone else, in what someone does or doesn't do with their body.

I believe any person  has a right to do what they want with their own bodies, however I do believe people should be more when having sex and responsible for the consequences of sex including pregnancy. Abortion shouldn't be used as birth control.

ABORTION = MURDER!!!!! If a women gets raped and gets pregnant, there's a new thing they just came out with recently called ADOPTION! If you were that baby, would you want to be killed and not have the chance to experience life? Think about it from the babies perspective.  :binkybaby:

BUTTTTTT, if delivering the baby were to result in both the baby and the mother dieing due to a defect or some kind of complication, THEN AND ONLY THEN should a women get an abortion.

Ahhh ..... the age old question should a woman be able to end a human life..... me personally i dont think abortion should be legal unless the fetus is a product of a rape... i believe that we all had sex ed and new the risks and outcomes of having sex... therefore if ur old enough to spread your legs and have sex... then ur old enough to be a woman an accept responsibility.... but unfortunetly it doesnt work that way... people have rights and that issue has been an issue debated for years....

I am pro choice but I think the first step for women who don't want children is to get on birth control.

Did anyone ask the child how it feels about it?
