I was attacked by more small dogs and cats than big dogs while working at an animal hospital for 5 years. Any animal can be trained to be vicious just like any animal can be trained to be sweet and mild mannered. Pits and some other breeds do get a bad reputation from a few bad dogs

Totally agree with you guys. My mom's toy poodle bit more people than I can count. :dog: I think the problem is when a big dog bites it's more likely to be severe. (the mini poodle never broke the skin on anyone) But my sister had a pit bull that never hurt a soul. He was very big, but was submissive to even small dogs and was a real sweetie. Just like humans, don't judge a book by its cover.

Pits are good dogs.

I think it is the dog's nature and upbringing that determine if he is a biter or not. We had a gentle giant (150 pound rotty/aussie mix) He liked everyone except policemen. Go figure. Great with kids and old people especially.
