Its weird, I always have a pleasant look on my face, but get a lot of strange looks from people and continue to stare after I look back at them. Makes me uncomfortable.
-
correction: do you get a lot of stares in publc?
-
I don't get too many stares in public unless I am wearing something sexy.

It's because you are staring at them. The real thing is, don't mix with the crowd if you are not with the crowd. Such as stay on the line for applications, or wait bright and early till a store open for shopping sales etc. If you are not there to shop or get an application why are you there in the first place.

If you stare at people, they will look at you weird because you're just staring at them. I get stared at A LOT in public, which is mainly due to my appearance. I understand that people may not understand why I look the way I do, but I'm not going to punish them for their ignorance. When I catch them looking I just smile, wave and continue on my way. I don't purposefully stare at others in public unless their look appeals to me. Then, I give them a compliment and either have a conversation with them or go on my way. I won't just sit and stare because that's kind of creepy. The way I see it, if someone's staring at you, then there's something that is eye catching about your appearance whether it be positive or negative.

when i was younger, and went to school and lived
among country folk, i got weird looks because of the
way i dressed. it bothered me then because i was
insecure about myself and i thought the stares
actually MEANT something... i felt like i was doing
something wrong because i was being myself?
moving away to college fixed that pretty quick.
i wouldn't notice someone staring at me now because
i'm much less aware of myself and others. sorry, not
gonna feel bad because you don't get it :dontknow:
when you reach the point of not caring anymore, it's
a great feeling.

Yes, I have cerebral palsy and the amount of stares I get when I'm in public an is absurd amount, even more than when I was a child. Jeez, it's like they have never encountered difference before.

I do stare a lot in public when I'm bored. :)

no not at all

I feel like I get stared at alot, but then again it could be all in my head. I mean someone could be looking in my direction, but it doesn't mean they are particularly staring at me. My ego just wants me to think they are paying attention to me lol.

Its what Katt Williams calls the i just caught the stomach virus face. Like everything about you just messes with them. That's what haters do.

No, not really. Sometimes someone will stare because they are caught "off guard", they are used to knowing me working on one side of town so when they wander to the other side of town and see me working in there they are a little confused at first. I like to have fun with it and tell them that "I work on the one side of town and my evil twin sister works on the other"...that then often becomes a joke with return clients. ;D

Sometimes. I think though mostly people are starring at my son because he is so cute! lol :binkybaby:
I notice though if I go to the store by myself, I do get some stares, but nothing out of the ordinary. I have always gotten attention, maybe it's my blonde hair (because blondes do have more fun!!) ;D HaHa! Or maybe it is because I am so petite. I am only 4ft 9 inches and I am almost 32 years old, so you can imagine the stares I get. I still get the "You're so cute!" phrase....lol. :P

You and I have a lot in common! Except I have one child and I still get the, "Why did you have a baby, you're so young yourself, aren't you suppose to be in school?" Believe me I have actually had someone say that to me!! :-[

You never said why people stare at you in public? What are you doing to cause them to stare. You forgot to say why and why did you leave that part out? People can stare at you for different reasons, but if you dress and look like a freak from a horror movie, then you should except it and move on.
-
People are probably not staring at you - they are probably staring through you. I used to be self-conscious, but I learned as I got older (I read this somewhere) that you would be surprised at the number of people who really are NOT looking at you. Most people are self-absorbed and don't really pay attention to other people. I do feel for the people who are disabled or disfigured - there are many stupid adults who feel they must stare at someone who is different. I don't count children. Children have either not learned to be respectful or are still young enough to be spontaneous.

I explained that I didn't know why and I dress causal and conservative all the time.
