I know lots of food and drink companies are trying to do the whole "healthy" thing, but when you destroy my chocolate milk, you've gone too far!
I grew up in TN, where they have the Purity Dairies; so I got to enjoy Whole Chocolate milk. I don't like any chocolate milk but the whole variety. When I moved to OH, I found an acceptable substitute in Dean's whole chocolate milk. It wasn't as good, but it did the job. But now, Dean's does that TruMoo crap, and even whole chocolate milk tastes like cheap "flavored chocolate drink"!
I drank the chocolate milk when I wanted to drink it because it tasted good; not for it's health value. It would take me two weeks to go through a half-gallon, so it's not like I was guzzling down the stuff either. It was a treat, like soda. Any other time it's normally water, white milk (2 %) or juice (mmmmmmm Simply Orange).
Companies, stop making all your stuff healthy just because some parents let their kids drink/eat nothing but unhealthy food! Parents, feed your kids some fruits and vegetables; leave my chocolate milk alone!
Okay, I'm done. I really miss good-tasting chocolate milk, though.... :crybaby2:

Don't know if this will help you in any way, but I also live in OH and the best chocolate milk I have found can be gotten at Krogers. It is their brand of milk.

And Politicians, stop making laws to take care of us... Not sure if it has effected the reason for your local dairy to switch to a low-fat chocolate milk, but I know the state legislature is trying to pressure our dairies to produce only partially skim (1% or 2%) or skim milk if not packaged as a cream (ie they can make creams like half and half or whipping cream, or skim and 2% milk, but not whole milk). Other states are trying to impose other food bans, like the amount of salt, sugar, etc. in our diets. I think it's ok to make companies list ingredients (and maybe a nutrition chart) so that the buyer can be aware, but trying to ban certain foods starts to go too far.
I agree that some people get on their high horse and complain that something is harmful or bad (in their eyes) and therefore should be made illegal. Give us the facts and your concerns, but then let us make our own decisions.

I drink ONLY whole milk and have since 1952 when my dad used to get up in the middle of the night and feed me calcium pills and milk because my legs hurt so bad, I'd wake up screaming. I was a terrible eater and still don't like a lot of things so milk has always been a great addition to my diet and I can tell a difference if I skip for a couple of weeks.

I had a chidhood friend that would NOT drink regular milk. If it were not for chocolate milk he would not have gotten any milk at all. Chocolate Milk rules. :)

I buy whole milk and make my own chocolate milk
-
white milk, chocolate is gross

you should try to make your own chocolate milk!
i know it won't be the same, and i moved to OH
from the south too (don't you worry, i'm headin' back
before too long)... so i can empathize.

ahhhh. this topic saddens me. im recently lactose intolerant... and im a milk lover. its horrible. chocolate soymilk tastes like slim fast :( and i also live in ohio, and when i could drink milk, i also got kroger brand. its the best. but i also used the powdered nesquik, idk if thats helpful or not but i thought it was good

I am in total agreement with you............hate commercial chocolate milk and find that I might as well make my own with whole milk and chocolate syrup. Tried truemoo recently and was so DISAPPOINTED, as you stated found it not to be any better than its competitors. So alas someone needs to get off their duff and make some really good chocolate milk cause I do so like it from time to time. ;D

Thanks, but the whole reason I'm so mad about it is because it was the only type of chocolate milk I liked. Hershey's, nesquick, ovaltine, etc....I've tried all of them before; hate them all.

Honestly I am the same way about chocolate milk. I think the only "healthy" kind I like is not even really milk lol. It is the silk dark chocolate almond. I love it !

Thank you for the suggestion. I used to shop at Krogers when I lived in TN, but now I live near Cleveland; the closest Krogers is 50 miles away. ;D
I don't miss my chocolate milk that much, to drive 50 miles for it.

I am really sick and tired of the nanny state telling me everything I have to eat, drink, do etc. I love chocolate milk also.
