So today something new on the videos: Enter your gender and your birthdate in order to view. When I did, I got a message saying I didn't meet the criteria for the audience they are targeting. HUH?? Okay, I understand being screened out on surveys for whatever reason, but VIDEOS too now? They want my date of birth and my gender. TO WATCH AN ADVERTISEMENT THAT I CAN SEE ON TELEVISION ANY DAY, ANY TIME....? It was for Heineken beer. I understand maybe screening out people under the legal drinking age (I am well above it), but to discriminate according to sex and/or age is discrimination, plain and simple. This isn't a movie theater or a night club, folks!
-
That happened to me, too. Sounds like discrimination to me.
-
I'm sure Heineken knows from its own research which demographics are likely or unlikely to buy their product. It makes sense, is legal, and reasonable for them to choose who they'll pay for watching their videos based on age/gender. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but since they write the checks, they get to choose.

huh, thats strange, I didnt know they were doing this on all videos.. I had the same question on the Adidas video, but thought it was because it was for 2 cents so they asked an extra question (guess I fit Adidas's target group) I also watched a few other vids that didnt ask any questions...
I think if there gonna do this and make us answer screening questions for a video, then the videos should pay out more, at least a 2 cent minimum on the ones that ask questions, rather than 1
-
I met the criteria myself but it asked my dob then asked if I liked the product to see the video.
-
Yeah, that's happened to me and it's very weird.
-
same here.

I am 66 years old and this has happened to me more than one time. I believe that it does have to do with my age. I do drink beer occasionally but I guess they want a younger population. Interestingly enough, this happened last year with some companies like Pillsbury. The videos had to do with baked items and many of us screened out due to age. I do not bake a lot but I live in senior citizen housing and my neighbors sure do. I could have passed on the recipes. But I think that in due time, I was allowed to view the recipes.
Advertisers have a budget and pay for everyone who views their ads. I guess that they feel they need to be selective some of the time. :dontknow:
-
I don't get that either. I am a few years over the legal drinking age, yet the Heineken video was ruled deemed unfit to my demographic. Is it because I'm a woman? I drink Heineken!
Then, of course, there's a T-Mobile video that asked the same thing and I was approved for that. I have nothing against T-Mobile, but I can't understand why a bunch of girls singing in pink dresses is okay for me and beer is not.

I understand that the advertisers can pick and choose who they pay to watch their advertisements. However, they are paying FUSION CASH to air their ads. FC is making quite a bit I'm sure -- I'm getting a penny, maybe two. I totally agree with the posters who stated that if we are going to be required to answer personal screening questions prior to watching a video, the video should pay more.
I still think this is discriminatory. When you watch television, nobody asks you how old you are before a commercial pops up. Your three-year-old kid/grandkid whatever could be watching the Heineken commercial. Ditto with your 90-year-old grandmother. Makes no real sense to me.
This isn't happening on ALL videos, only on some.
-
Since it was for a beer video I can understand why they would ask your age or date of birth, because they are hitting a certain age group so I don't think its discrimination

They don't pay us until you finish watching the video. We get nothing for advertising their videos. We get paid when you qualify & watch one - that is it. So if you are screened out, we make nothing (just like you). It's the same with surveys. If you don't see credit, then we don't either. It's in our best interest for you to be credited for every offer you try, but unfortunately there is an occasional failure in crediting. If there was something we could do about this, we would, but the crediting process takes place between your computer, the advertiser's system, and a third-party advertising network. We have no control over any of those 3.

I also have gotten these messages, but I don't take it personally, I just keep checking back for the ones I can do!
-
I wonder what the requirements are to view some of them? I wasn't allowed to view a couple of them. Am I too old??

Some advertisers seem to think you stop spending money when you retire. I prefer to think we get more discriminating but I have to keep a list so I can remember which ones don't want my business :D
-
agreed!!!
-
That happened to me too. At first I thought they were checking age because it was a video for alcohol commercial. Than it came up that I did not qualify. I am too old to drink beer?? Well, maybe I won't try the brand they were sponsoring. Poor PR in my opinion.
-
Companies have the right too choose who they pay too advertise too. They will want too pay only the most likely to actually go out and buy their product. Its not discrimination, its just good business on their part.
-
I imagine it's the business part that's getting us older people disqualified. I was disqualified on it too.
-
Well, that's it for me. Next time I get that question on a video, I'm gonna take my false teeth out, put on a wig so I've got hair again, and post the age I'm feeling at the time. Thirty aught to work. I think I had hair and teeth back then.  :D
-
Kay7: Loved your post! I'm not quiet retirement age yet, but I already have to make notes and keep track, because I just can't remember things like I used to! LOL Carry on.......! ;D
-
just another way for them to select who they want to see it

I was screened out as well... and I thought I would be in a good demographic for their advertising. I wasn't offended in the least. It is a good tool for the advertiser to use to make sure their advertisement is being seen and responded to by a segment of the population that they are marketing to. If they are getting responses from every age and gender, it is impossible for them to figure out if their advertisement is effecting purchasing decisions of a specific group of people they are trying to reach. It can be frustrating to be screened out of a video, but it is no different than not qualifying for a survey.
-
I got the same question and drop down box included with this video for age demographic purposes I guess. 37 wasn't the magic number either, no video for me.

Greetings Admin,
You may not have control over how the system pays, but you should have control over what companies or vendors are allowed to promote things on this site and it would seem to be to FC's benefit as well as to the participants to eliminate those companies that constantly have issues or to push them to have the issues resolved, turning things into a win win situation rather than to just be passive and say that there is nothing that can be done about it. A stronger push for better quality in what is offered should also be within your control so there are a few things that could be done but the perception is that those things are not being done. Perhaps posting some statistics would help to prove this perception to be incorrect, such as how many new vendors or offers each month, how many rejected or improved, how many with issues unresolved, for those that don't improve problems after 30 or 60 days, get rid of them with a proviso that they may reapply to present on FC if and when they can prove to FC that their issues have been resolved. That should seem to be logical, and may already be happening, except the participants have no way to verify that those activities are taking place on their behalf.
-
I haven't had this problem [yet] but I already have to worry about not qualifying for surveys now videos too!!! :angry7:
-
Well women drink beer too, that should not be a factor but sadly it is...
:icon_rr:
-
I get approved for very few videos here because of the age/gender thing. It seems like a bit of a pain in the neck for a penny so most of the time, I don't even go to the video page anymore. There are other sites that pay more for vids that do not ask for any of your personal info. Sooooooooo, I'd rather watch them somewhere else & get paid more than waste my time on the one's that don't want my business anyway.

In my opinion, it's not a matter of the advertisers thinking that you stop spending money when you retire. One possibility: they figure that once you reach retirement age, your tastes and preferences are much more likely to be "set in stone", as opposed to a younger person who may be more willing to try new things. That's probably why they usually try and target a younger audience. Just my opinion though, and take that for what it's worth! :P
-
An interesting fact about spending and retirement. Seniors have more money than alot of people, because many of them have saved all their lives. They actually spend more money than we do because more of them have the money to spend. Really, I've seen my parents. They eat out for all meals. If I did that I would go straight to the poorhouse. Anyway, the point is that advertisers should consider the fact that older people often have more money to spend.

Excellent post, TOMAS7. You should really place a copy of your suggestions in the "General" forum, because it seems to me that a lot of the issues here apply in other areas, not just the videos portion of the site. As I said earlier... if I spend my time and effort doing an offer (whether it's a survey, a video, an e-mail, or whatever), it would be nice to get SOME sort of credit for it.
One suggestion I have is that FC adopt a policy where they enter you into a second-chance drawing if you're screened out of a survey. Usually when I get screened out, it's after I've spent 5, 10, even 15 minutes answering "pre-qualifying" questions. That's not just a couple of minutes of time. Most surveys aren't that long in the first place. As for the videos, I rarely have any to watch lately. Would be nice if they'd have some alternatives to the daily e-mail and paid-to-click stuff that didn't cost money or put our personal info (especially cell phone #) on the line.

We've got the best advertisers that we can get for a site of our size. In any business transaction the party which is paying is the party with the leverage. In our case that means the market research companies that provide surveys, and the advertisers that provide videos & offers. They choose the terms of our promotion and we're happy to have the opportunity. You are likely to have a similar experience at any site like ours if you stay there long enough.
We already vet our advertiser offers and review them on an ongoing basis. If you see it on the site it means it's already been proven to credit for a substantial portion of all users. You have to keep in mind that people are more likely to post a complaint about an offer/advertiser than a "I got credited". It's just human nature. Plus, most FC members are not even active on the forum. So even if you see a handful of posts reporting a problem with a particular offer, that same offer is most likely crediting for virtually everyone who completes it correctly.
MOST issues with crediting are caused by something on the end user's computer. It can be a lot of different things: a network hiccup, iffy wifi, software like anti-virus or "web scanners", proxy use, corporate or university firewalls. If you stick around on the forums long enough you will notice that some users seem to get credited for virtually everything, while some consistently have problems. You'll also notice that in the "post what you've been credited for" type threads, people ARE being credited for offers which other people are complaining about. This just goes to show that the crediting success of your endeavors on here depends almost entirely on things outside of our control, including the way that your computer is setup, your internet connection and its quality, and (in the case of surveys) your demographics.
Offering payouts for survey DQs or "attempted" offers is not financially possible, not to mention that it opens up a huge avenue for abuse (we have no way to tell if you answered 0 or 100 questions before getting DQ'd - we just know you clicked on a survey - so people can lie about attempting surveys).
FC is not perfect, and we make no claim that we are. This site is not for everyone. If you are unhappy with the way that we run things, you are welcome to try your luck with one of our many competitors - nobody is forcing anyone to be here!

the surveys especially and over and over in the same survey, they ask for your race, your gender, your status,...your race, your gender, ,...your race, your gender, like the program forgot your previous answers or just wanted to make sure (since it may take 30-90 minutes to complete each survey) that none of that changed since you started. to make sure if you answered caucasion you remain still caucasian or pacific islander, or whatever the race may be. or to see if you had a sex change since you started.
hopefully the reason i did not get credit for many surveys was not because of how i answered what race i am, or what gender i am.

Generally speaking when you're asked the same demographic questions multiple times its because you're being routed from one survey system to another. These survey systems are run by big market research firms and they operate within very strict privacy policies, which make it basically impossible for your answers to be transferred system-to-system automatically. Technologically speaking, it's possible and relatively straightforward to do - but they have business reasons for not doing it.
-
you have the best advertisers. some of them charged my credit card and also my phone bill without my consent. they were deceptive in the way they obtained my information.
an advertiser should not pretend to give you something if they know you are really going to receive only charges on your credit card or phone bill, without receiving anything of value in return.
when you are solicited to pay money, you must receive some consideration. a product or a bonifide service. i received nothing from these guys except the knowledge that they took my money through trickery and deceit.
-
Once again: :bs:
Unless you put your personal information in (which includes your credit card, phone number, etc etc) they can't just charge you or do ANYTHING without your consent.
Your negative postings are more than tiresome (and completely pointless) -- you're not utilizing the forums to "ask for help", you're just here to troll and bash Fusion Cash. If you have SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many problems with FC, either talk to an Administrator and sort it out, or GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. You're entitled to your opinions, but I'm blocking you anyway. *YAWN*

I thought it was strange but hey there the ones paying so it didnt influence the amount of their beer I drink... hehe :P 8)

That happened to me one time to. But I can i understand why. Its like surveys they are looking to screen a certain demographic. Commercials do that, they target kids, have you noticed laundry detergent target women. Men wash clothes too last time i checked. I guess its the association of men with beer more so than women. I am sure they will have one for women in the future. It sucks to be out of that 1 cent but what can you do.
-
You're absolutely right, of course, Aishashoful. It seems petty to quibble about one penny, but hey, we are all here to make money -- and all those pennies do add up eventually. I just keep plugging along! :) Have a great day!

I did not qualify for some of them either. I can see it on the surveys but not on the videos.
