Only me and my neighbor did a small amount of lights, something simple and cool. Last year, this girl that lived 1 apt down from us went nuts...Im talkin' snow globes, blow up santa clause, moving reindeer, spiral christmas trees, candy canes that light up- just a ridiculous amout of lights on a small apt lot, and it was kind of tacky! She just stuck it in her yard and turned it on, very strange, no organization whatsoever!

When I lived in an apartment complex I used to really deck out the front porch because they gave away money and prizes for the best display. I never won. I really think the managers were very biased towards their friends in the complex. The people who won usually had just a couple of lights and maybe one or two outside decorations. =P
Now I live in a house and I have only put up a string of lights because many of the lights I have used in the past are out. I decided to buy one strand but that is all I can really afford this year. It would be nice to do more but it will have to wait for next year or the sales after Christmas.

I'm lazy and don't put much up....I know that I will just have to clean it up again. LOL and a little can go a long way sometimes.
-
no we dont,,but we are the new ones in the neighborhood this year and everyone all around us did and we are the only dark house on the block :sad1:
-
No, but I wouldn't mind if they were like this place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfcNoMnKjrY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfcNoMnKjrY)
(OK, on second thought, that might be absolutely annoying after a while...)

No one in my neighborhood has put up anything, including me. We live in the country so it's not as fun to do it when so few people get to see them. I had planned to put some up this year, but never got around to it.. :o hehe
-
Myself donot put up christmas light just because i dont want to take them down but i do love to take drive just to look at the light .it just the most beautiful time of the year.
-
Some of my neighbors do. I am almost feel obligated to put up lights just so I don't look bad.
-
Some have a lot of lights but I absolutely love it.. particularly the blow up items and the light up reindeer. I wish people would appreciate it like they did when they are little.
-
Nope...since I dont live in the city, I must travel around the county "looking" for lights the kids can view.
-
I do not see too many people on my block with Christmas lights up, except one house. Some people can go way over board with the lights and etc. I usually do not put up any lights...I just put up a Christmas wreath on the door.

Well I don't think our house has ever been confused with one of the runways out at DFW but than again who knows for sure. We tend to keep it rather simple but I have noticed that we keep adding to the drain on the electric grid every year.
-
Other than a decorated tree and few lights here and there inside we don't put much lights for display especially on the external part of our house. A few neighbors do hang some lights, but nothing too fancy. Our neighborhood overall might be a little bit conservative due to energy consumption consciousness and other decorations such as inflated items are discouraged due to kids having a tendency to popping them.

I live in an apartment complex so I don't have many lights around. A house up the block went crazy though.

I don't think so. I drove by a nice neighborhood (mine included) last night and noticed one street with almost the entire block decorated with pretty, bright colorful Xmas lights. I thought they were pretty and festive looking. No matter how tasteless, simple, or how elegant the decorations are, I just quickly glance and admire what is there so I don’t have time to judge how people choose to decorate them. :peace:
-
I so agree with the previous entry. Whatever people put up is wonderful. Big, little, gaudy, simple. It's an expression of their joy of the season. So, not everyone is a decorator or has a good eye. What does it matter. It's their way of celebrating and it's fun for everyone to see. My favorite thing about the holidays is the lights. Driving around and looking at lights is my favorite thing to do during the holidays. I'm happy so many people still decorate. And, yes, I decorate as well. No matter what my budget each year, I get lights and decorations out.

LOL!! That is funny! I have seen a few people in my apt complex with lights out the butt. I just have a sign and a bow on my door. I love Christmas, but some of these people are just ridiculous. Someone should tell them the truth. It's too much! >:(
-
my block has very few lights on it. I dont have any because i live by myself and nobody will be coming over to see the lgihts
-
Some of my neighbors have lots of lights but nothing that is too tacky. The houses all
look very nice.
My next door neighbor has one of those blow up decorations on her lawn that I need
to keep my puppy away from .... I guess he didn't like it -- attacked it the first day.
Thank goodness he didn't pop it -- LOL :o
-
I usually go all out with my Christmas decorations each year. I love to decorate. Unfortunately, I'm not able to put up very much this year because I just can't afford to. :(
-
no neighbors now, I am sort of homeless, but at my moms in the country
-
Not with lights, but I have one neighbor that has at least a dozen lighted blowups and stuff in her yard. I am not talking about a nativity set either. I mean just random stuff, like an angel, then beside that a Santa.......her yard looks a sale display.
-
Not really but I actually love the lights and all the festive decorations. I wish my neighbors would be more festive to be honest because it's so beautiful to look at. And I just love to see my daughter's expression everytime we pass by an overly festive house. There is nothing wrong with that, it makes her happy to see her happy!
-
My neighbor went all out every year with lights. I did lights too for Christmas.
-
oh yeah.i actually love it!!!
-
I just wish a neighbor or two would go nuts with the Christmas lights. I love Christmas lights. I guess it is the child in me. But I was so disappointed this
year because there were hardly any lights put up in our neighborhood. Oh well, maybe next year.
-
Not so much anymore. Like Halloween, Christmas has gone down the toilet as far as decorations go. Kids these days are too much into facebook and themselves to want to go outside and decorate something.
-
Absolutely! I live in an enclosed cul-de-sac and each year every neighbor tries to outdo the other. I don't know if there is a cash prize competition somewhere that I don't know about or what but it gets just crazier each year.
-
I have a few lights up outside. They border the fence, garage door, and window. I like things to look neat and organized. The neighbors a couple houses over put lights all over everything. The colors don't match and it looks like a jumbled up mess. I do like to drive around with the kids and look at the lights though. We pick out which ones are our favorites. It's nice.

Live in Apt., so most of the people didn't really have anything outside of their apartment!!
