Ask around and it may amaze you how many of your friends are Cancer Survivors (my wife is) when back in the day (when I was a teenager) they didn't even say the word, it was just the big C. It was like getting a death sentence.

agree! how amazing and great to hear that your granddaughter is able to hear now. I bet it's fun to watch her experience all these things for the first time differently now.

It's always good when advancements are made in medical tech. Just hate the trillion dollar pharmaceutical companies that take advantage of people and rush medicine onto the market.

Yes, medical technolology is continuously improving everyday. Thank God for that and hopefully it will improve so that no one has to suffer from all the diseases that the body can't fight.

That's great news about your granddaughter! Those tiny tubes are put in close to a million times a year and have saved countless little ones' hearing, believe me. What a great 'present' for all of you. ;)

It might surprise you to know that, on average, it takes a minimum of 12 years for a drug to be 'invented', tested, and approved for sale in the U.S. They are NOT "rushed through" by any means and out of every 5,000 new ones developed, only 1 will actually make it through the process. Tens of thousands of people die every day because we, unlike most other countries, have the FDA and DEA breathing down the necks of scientists and they also put up roadblocks to limit many procedures/medications that have saved lives for years outside this country. Why do you think so many people with the monetary resources leave here to be treated in other countries? We usually only think about the people who come here for help, not the other way around. I would NEVER want us to just throw whatever out there and have people taking unproven medications or being put through unproven procedures to help them, but this country has tied the hands of many of us who treat the sick and injured everyday. It is very frustrating to tell anyone "We are NOT allowed to do/prescribe that here." when they mention an article or program they have seen that is about what other countries are doing. :(
