While I do enjoy a fresh loaf of bread the problem with it is after about three days it gets hard. I like soft bread which is why I generally buy store bought bread because it can last until the experation date.
-
To me there's no comparison. I would take fresh bread over store bought, any time. I guess I wouldn't have to worry about it getting hard because it wouldn't last that long around my house!
-
I love fresh bread! I don't buy it though because I can eat it all pretty quick! Where is the butter?! So I buy store bought, it last much
longer in our house and I don't gain 10lbs!
-
Nothing is better than taking a fresh hot loaf of bread out of the oven or the bread machine. Slice off the heel and slab with butter - the best!
-
Yep, I love home-made bread. It makes the best toast and French toast. A friend of mine's Mom used to make 6 loaves every morning. :)

Hard to keep bread fresh
-
I buy white sandwich bread from the breadstore but I like to bake banana nut bread and cranberry orange bread.
-
I usually buy bread from the grocery store. Sometimes we splurge and get it from the bakery.
-
homemade bread whenever possible. nothing else quite like it.
-
Fresh bread is rare these days. I don't know anyone that makes their own anymore, except restaurants. It may have been store bought, i don't know. :dontknow:
-
I don't have time to make fresh bread, seems easier to just buy a cheap loaf from the store.
-
I love the fresh bread, when I have the time I go to the local Spanish store and they will actually bake right there while I wait, but more often than not I just buy the store bread.
-
i like white bread from the grocery store.

I enjoy yummy soft bread (when I can find it) from the store, however, I also have to keep gluten free bread on hand as well. I think fresh baked bread is better than store bought, and I now use tapioca flour to increase the fluffyness in the gluten free breads.
Sometimes I can find a fresh loaf of Amish bread in town. Good stuff. :D

yeah i agree. i prefer store brought bread. it last longer and you don't have to worry about it going bad to fast.
-
We usually buy store bread. My favorite is 12 Grain.
Fresh bread is a treat at our house.
-
I buy both fresh bakery and store bought....I just like to keep both in the house, but usually some of it gets wasted and thrown out. I think I need to stop grocery shopping when I'm hungry....lol....you fill the carriage with unnecesssary items.
-
Fresh bread is amazing with butter or garlic, I can get fresh bread at some local stores also that is very good
-
I would rather buy whole wheat bread from the store which is healthier then white bread! I don't have any interest in making home made bread! Maybe home made biscuits though!
-
I don't know how to make homemade bread but I have eaten it and its the best. It smells so good and melts in your mouth. I wish I new how to make it cuz I would really give it a try.

fresh store bough bread

Fresh bread is the best! Just the smell of it baking is amazing. Store bought breads do last longer though...

I've tried a bunch of recipes from the internet. I use bread flour, fleishmans yeast, and have tried a couple teaspoons of high gluten. I usually have my bread machine mix the dough, then I'll take it out after its risen and form it into baguette's and bake it in the oven. However, its texture is no where near as chewy as the store bought ones.....and the texture is denser, more cakelike in consistency. Making delicious bread, as good as any artisan bakery in the world is what most of us are trying to do. but I have never managed to make good bread so I buy store bread all the time.
-
I definitely love fresh bread but unfortunately I don't bake so I buy them. My husband is now interested in baking so it will be

Your fresh bread last long enough to get hard?
2 solutions.
1.) make smaller loafs, store the unbaked dough in the fridge for up to 7 days. The longer it is stored without freeing, the denser the loaf and more "sourdough" it will taste.
2.) after your regular loaf cools, cut it in half, wrap well and freeze in a ziploc bag. Thaw and use when the other part has been eaten.
Third option.... if your bread does go hard.....make croutons out of it!

I would prefer fresh bread anytime.....Here lately I have been trying to say away from much bread.
-
I like fresh bread but I can tolerate store bought. The problem is that it gets moldy quickly.
-
i have a starter that's been growing for 7 years and I make my own bread each week my family
loves it so I make 10loaves I also make bagels pretzels and flat breads. It's still cheaper and
refrigeration keeps the bread a few days longer or freeze it to use it in a week.

-

-
I prefer fresh bread from the store. It seems to last longer when bought from the store.
-
me too i'm all about the store bought bread don't get me wrong i like fresh bread but your right goes bad way to fast why spend the time if it's not going to be ate right away.
-
I would say fresh bread is better because its soft and smells really good.
-
Definitely fresh bread if given a choice. Store bread may last longer, but it doesn't taste nearly as good as fresh bread.
-
I love fresh bread, but I do buy the store bought! Store bought's less mess and does last longer!

Fresh bread

I prefer freshly made bread. Store bought bread contain many junk ingredients (usually w/ chemicals and preservatives). I make my own bread without having to worry what’s in it. Homemade bread taste the best. I can consume the entire loaf within 1-2 days.
-
Fresh bread is my personal preference, but since I don't bake that often, I buy my bread which usually taste pretty good.
-
We love fresh bread around here. Trouble is doesn't last long. and Hubby likes it way too much, but bring it on all kinds of bread baked at home is the best.

Fresh if you are going to use it within a day or 2 or it gets hard but I think there are tips to refresh the bread in the oven if it gets too hard or use it to make croutons. There are more natural options on the store shelves too. You don't have to buy bread that is so processed and full of chemicals anymore.

I'm a 65 year old Wonder Bread kid. I don't know what I'll do if Hostess goes away :dontknow: My grandmother used to tell me white bread was poison and I'm sure she was right but I love it.
-
Fresh bread is better, but store bought is so cheap!
-
I don't think I have ever had fresh bread made in my own house. I have had it at certain food establishments. It is easy to tell as it is a lot better.
-
I buy my bread from the store because I dont know how to make it.
-
Fresh is always better
-
I get it from the store. Home made bread sounds good, but I havent made any in a long time.
-
Fresh is always best. Love the smell of fresh baked bread.
-
like fresh bread the best just takes time to make so store bought is more convenient most of the time.
