Title: Another Tip~~HE Washers
Post by: webe4angels on February 03, 2012, 04:37:31 am
:star: :star: Another Helpful Tip :star: :star:

Just thought I would share another tip I read today.

For those of you that have the new HE Washing Machines...

You could spend a lot of money on the Tide Washing Machine cleaner...

 :dontknow: ~or~  :dontknow:

You could use 1 cup of VINEGAR in the bottom of your HE washing machine and run it on the HOTTEST cycle.

 The acid in the vinegar will get rid of grease, bacteria and soap scum.

To Clean the Outside of your machine...

:star: Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water.

:star: :star: Spray it on the outside of the washer and wipe the whole thing down with a soft, clean cloth.

Hey THANKS for the tip.

I work at a group home and they have one of those HE Washing Machines.

A lot of "crud" and "slime" seems to accumulate on the rubber gasket/seal at the door.

I am taking your Helpful Hint for cleaning it out with me to work today!!  :)

Using vinegar in your washing machine, no matter what brand or type, is good.  You can even use it during a wash.  Vinegar is great for dissolving hard water crust.  You can soak your shower head in vinegar to unclog it.

Thank you for the Tip.  I think I will be doing some cleaning today with gloves on because vinegar eats my hands and causes sores on them.... Bad Sulfa, Sulfite and Sulfate Allergy grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am so glad that this little tip has helped a few out on here.

I really love to save where I can... And not having to go spend 10.00 on the Tide laundry cleaner.. Surely is a money saver!!!

I am crazy about saving, reusing and learning new household tips to make life easier.

**Yes vinegar also can be used through the coffe pot.  Put a cup in with water reseviour and turn it on.
This will get all the calcium deposits etc out of the inside of your pot.
Plus while it is dripping into the carafe.. this will also get the hard water marks off.

This will make your coffee taste so much better.  Like you have a BRAND NEW Coffee Pot!!!

When complete... run another cycle with plain water and clean it out.

:star: :star: Good as new!!!!    :star: :star:

I use vinegar in my coffee pot, my hot water pot, washing machine, yes and even my shower heads.  I put a ziplock bag with vinegar around the shower head and rubber band... leave until it is sparkling clean.

Another use for white vinegar is in your dishwasher. We have EXTREMELY hard water and when running our dishwasher we found no matter what brand of detergent we used, the dishes weren't getting clean enough and the dishwasher would smell after awhile. Now, we put in white vinegar at the bottom of the dishwasher PLUS use the detergent the normal way and run the dishwasher (oh and we don't use jet dry or any of that stuff). Definitely helps get the dishes cleaner, plus it is helping extend the life of the dishwasher since hard water tends to ruin appliances a whole lot sooner which sucks.

Thanks for the tip on using it on HE washers! We use white vinegar for everything, but I never thought of using it for that! We'll try it today :-)

Thanks for the tip.  I have an HE waher and have been a little concerned since I started seeing the commercials for the tide stuff that cleans the HE machine but had not really decided if I needed it or not.  Now that I know about the vinegar I sure won't spend the money on the tide stuff.  I haven't seen any scum or anything on my washer but the vinegar will see that I don't ever see it.  My HE washer is top load so does that make a difference on scum or whatever?  Thanks again
