Referring to what you said, the idea you stated seems more of an Orwellian society.

"The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to lift an all-out ban on playing with footballs, other *bleep* and Frisbees on the beach, according to a media statement released by the L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors.
The update means that beach-goers may toss *bleep* and Frisbees with Lifeguards’ permission on beaches in Los Angeles County between Memorial Day and Labor Day."

More socialist and apathetic and divisive, I would say. Most people seem weak and helpless to me these days and they lack personal responsibility and simple pride. Such traits make them very vulnerable to politicians promising gifts and policies that they know those they are targeting desire. I personally don't need a damn thing from anyone (doesn't mean I am honery enough to refuse gifts though) and I value my own sensibilities much more than I do any polished politician.

:'( :'( Sadly, since Obama was elected to the highest office in the land, we have headed in a straight fast paced direction toward socialism. Unless we silent majority get off our back sides, Obama will be dictator for life and we will live a miserable life without freedoms of any kind. God help America.

I feel that if Obama is reelected by the time he gets finished, this country will definitely be socalistic. Maybe not communistic, but definitly socalistic.

No, there are too many of us true Americans to prevent that!

It's pretty much just like that now. Many beaches in California, (and elsewhere), post signs prohibiting swimmers in "surfing sections" too. I've often wondered how the surfers are supposed to get out to the waves without violating that prohibition since paddling falls under the general idea of swimming too.

Not even close. I've been to a communist country: China. In many ways they have more freedom then we do. They drive like mad men but there is no road rage and barely any accidents. They honk a lot at each other but it's like the driver is saying 'I'm here'. If there is an accidents both parties are blamed. China's crime rate is very, very low. Their children are very respectul. I was asked by 16 year old how I should be address because calling me by my first name is rude. They take very good care of their elderly. My mom's 74 and very independant and self reliant. They always offered her a chair, an arm to walk on, a seat on the bus. When they asked her how old she was they cheered her! They have signs everywhere about being kind to the weak, elderly, disabled, etc. Out in public I would consider them rude. They cut in line, interrupt each other, shove past you but no one does anything. It's like that's just the way it is and they except that. I didn't see any fights or arguements break out.
I don't agree with communision but it seems to work for them. In the US we have some of the most outrages laws. Childern can be as disrespectful as they want. All they have to do is yell: abuse. You cut someone off or shove past them you'll either get told off or threaten. I had a friend who was jumped and beaten up for asking some men to leave his sister alone. People are sue happy. And most will win when it should of been thrown out of court. Illegal aliens are getting more rights and special treatment then us citzen's who need it. I don't know what I would call the US but I feel our freedom isn't free at all.

I was in China last year and they have more economic freedom than we could ever dream of here. So sad.

I don't think a communist country would have 1% of it's people with 90% of the wealth. So, no.

China occupies much of the middle third of the global wealth distribution. The share of the top 10% ranges from around 40% in China to 70% in the United States.

That may be true if you do research. I simply watch Michael Moore movies. Therefore, 1% owns 90%.

Ah, I'd momentarily forgotten that humorous 'facts' beat researched, (and less funny?), ones hands-down. Plus, I didn't make the obvious joke about wealthy commies - must be an off afternoon for me.

Who owns what percentage of the total wealth is insignificant considering the total wealth is not zero sum. If there was a fixed amount of wealth it would matter, but since there isn't there is little point (not I said little, not none at all) in trying to squeeze any extra miles out of it as a subject of 'fairness'.

All I know is that now days a person who works hard and builds his own business is now a horrible man for not giving it away. No one takes in consideration the fact that the businessman hires people and gives the people products. It is silly to think a person is suppose to work hard and develop something and make no more for it much less be rewarded for making all the decisions and hard aches that go along with the business

Example?
No one takes in consideration the fact that the businessman hires people and gives the people products. It is silly to think a person is suppose to work hard and develop something and make no more for it much less be rewarded for making all the decisions and hard aches that go along with the business
People only seem to have quarrels with this when those businessmen and women take those jobs and give them to other countries because it's cheaper and when they sport the quantity > quality mindset. That, or they build up a lot of economic weight for other people and if/when a slump comes along, they pull the rug from under everyone to make sure they alone aren't damaged by it-- the "Screw you! Got mine!" attitude. Business is business though.

Maybe some people are conflating "wealth" with "money"? They aren't the same thing but, are often used interchangeably. Money is a medium of exchange; something that gets exchanged for a product, material/land or service. Products, materials, land or services can form the basis of wealth. When the difference gets blurred between wealth & money, some people may actually be talking about a limited amount of money, (sans the deflating process of printing more), as opposed to the theoretical unlimited potential of creating wealth.
Dividing all the world's cash up among all the world's population would be nearly a zero-sum game, (by some estimates, we'd each get about $300 US that way). I'm not sure if it is entirely possible to divide the current wealth available worldwide, (since "wealth" can be both created and destroyed). Essentially, not everybody can be "rich" _or_ "wealthy", even if everything were socialistically-divided evenly. We'd all be equally "poor" and just that much further behind the curve of creating more wealth, (which, at some point, gets exchanged for money).

How so?

Not communistic but more socialists, and each law that passes seems to take some of our Freedoms away. Slowy but surely. Seems the Politicians are the only ones exempting themselves from many of the very laws they pass. But I saw some hope the other day. Now Politicians can't use insider information to make themselves rich. Good, but I have a feeling they can still get around it? Think about it. If you knew lets say a developer was going to develope in a certain area, and you knew a way to buy land in around or on the area cheaply, and then the devloper comes in to buy it for his project, well you can sell to him, still cheaply, but make a profit, or arrange some type of kickback, or become partnership in the project.
Or, lets say a certain company is going to split there stock, go bankrupt or a start up and you have the inside info, you could invest knowing which way it will go, you can even make money when the stock goes down or tanks. Now that is unreal. But it is what they have been doing and then some. Regular people would be hung from the rafters for inside trading.
