I lost my case, I had a work injury and had back surgery and still need more on my neck,
and the judge said and i Quote "There must be somthing you can do somewhere."
so I failed to get mine. Don't count on the government

I am filing for disability also. I filed once and I was turned down so now I have filed again. Not sure where your at. I did not have a hearing but did spend a lot of time filling out the paper work.

I am currently on social Security disability the best advice I can give you is to be calm, cool, and collected. Be honest and straight up, donnot let the procedure intimadate you. I wish you luck, and I am sure you will do well. Good Luck

It is a long hard road.It took my husband 3 years to get his started. You will normally be turned down like 3 times even with a lawyer. But if you don't have a lawyer, get one.I am fixing to apply for mine and I totally dread it.I hope yours hasn't taken as long as my husbands.Good luck.

Document every problem you have. if it's physical and you have trouble walking for example write down specifically how many steps you can take before it starts hurting. write down every medicine you take, even over the counter meds. keep records of doctor/hospital visits.

I am on disability now. The first time I applied, I was turned down and I appealed. Was turned down again. Other family matters became a priority so had to put my claim aside. When I decided to try again, I got a lawyer (specializes in disability claims only). Did not have to go to any hearings. After six months I was approved. Good luck.

This subject upsets me soooo much :( my late husband had a mild heart attack many years ago and had all kinds of paper work from Drs saying he couldnt work the type job he was doing anymore. he applied for disabilty but was turned down. we had 2 little ones at the time so the stress from not having income and me having to go to work did a toll on him. he was a very proud man thinking that I should be home with the kids and he be the bread winner like he had been for many years. he was in the middle of appealing and he had a massive heart attack and died at 48 :(...I guess my point is, if you feel you REALLY REALLY need disabilty FIGHT the dickons for it and keep on fighting till you get it. when I explained my story to social security they felt really bad but that wasnt going to bring my husband back...Good luck to EVERYONE and dont give up!! I used to date a man who worked for Social Security. He said that only 15% who apply get approved. Good luck! :)

It took me 7 years of fighting to get my SS disability. Then I got a lawyer and it took four years to get my hearing before a Judge. Mine was done by web cam. It was kind of strange sitting in a room with my lawyer looking at the Judge on a big screen in another city. I was nervous but the Judge was very kind and even said he was sorry that it had taken so long. Just be honest and have a lawyer with you to help. I have heard that it is harder to get in some States then others. I was in FL when I got mine. I don't get much SSD dollars but it is better than nothing. I wish you good luck and hope you get it.

reading the other post it sound like the lawyers are making good money of this.
