Wow, that is pretty impressive. I am not sure if I have ever made 100 dollars in a single day with a yard sale. Its hard, when you get up in the early freezing morning to lug all your stuff out of your garage into your lawn, set up tables and chairs and wait. Were you in a high traffic area? Did you flood your neighborhood with signs?  If you were on a high traffic street, that is half the battle there. I do know that part of my problem is that my particular street doesn't get much traffic. A few streets over is a pretty good place, but I live on a little half circle with a patch of grass that they attempt to call a park in front of my yard, so it looks nice set up but most passing traffic doesn't know it exists. If you have any tips or anything about how you prepared for your yard sale, I  and I'm sure many other people are all ears.  :cat:

We are "known" in the area to have yearly yard sales, also we live next to an apple orchard, and they are always packed in the fall time and it is an awesome time for a yard sale.  We end up having them normally Thursday-Sundays, I know...who would think Sunday was a good day to have a yard sale but it is.  We make several hundreds of dollars a day normally.  Always looking for things to resale that we can make money on.

I love going to garage/yard sales.  This year I am planning on having a yard sale myself.  I moved and found I had a lot of stuff I really didn't need, so I figured I would try and get rid of them.  The small town I live in has what they call community yard sales, so that is the day I plan on having mine.  It is only for one day, so hope I do really well.

I live in Minnesota and April is usually the month when garage sales start here, and I cannot wait.  My husband is a pack rat and loves to buy and resell things so we have at least one garage sale a year.

I have a tendency to buy and sell on eBay.  I considered it a 'yard sale' for introverts.

That would be great to do!  I tried it once where I live now and since my neighborhood is so far out in the boonies hardly anyone came!  It actually was a neighborhood yard sale!  We didn't have much luck!

We moved into a small house in October but the weather wasn't right for the garage sale. We're gearing up to have one in the next month. It's so much work but I can't just throw stuff away. Wish me luck!

I haven't had one in many years.  It was a lot of work.  I don't go to the many more as I have enough stuff of my own.  I did buy books at some of them, but now I have my kindle fire, I don't buy any more books - get them free from Amazon.

I have had yard sales in the past.  I did great and I use to set up at flea markets on the week end.  I quick that about 10 years ago.  The flea market slacked off and could not make much.  I will love to do it again but I am 71 years old and don't know if I could hold up.  I had a knee replacement Jan 4th and am just now getting over it.  I plan going back to work in 2 weeks and I work weekends at Walmart so couldn't do flea markets any way.  May God bless each of you and keep you safe.

I love yard sales! I tried one myself once....but it was worthless for me.  It seems around here everyone wants modern clothes for $.10 each~ridiculous! Well, it's the beginning of the season and it seems people are ready to go with them! Have fun everyone!!!

we have one every year. Great way to recoupo some of the money you spent. And since we bought a house this year-everything we don't sell will be donated for a write-off. Win-win!

Our neighborhood does an annual yard sale and it works out fantastic, a lot of people come because there are a lot of houses invloved. I do flea markets from time to time but they aren't as good because you can only lug so much there. When the yard sale is at our house, it all comes out.

I like yard sales and used to have them from time to time, but the older I get, it seems like so much effort for what you make.  I like to go to them sometimes, however.

I've never made that kind of money. Last garage sale my sister had she made $1. Last one I had I made about $60, which included a couch and a refridgerator. People haggle too much and it just irritates me. I either donate or sell on eBay.

I use to do tag sales every year. It's easy money in a weekend, but a lot of setup. Still worth it. Congratulations on the added cash!  :)

I like going to yard sales But have started getting really picky at what i buy, besides i need to get rid of a lot of stuff that i have packed up when we moved and i really would like to get rid of it. A lot of it is antiques and i am going to let it go cheap. Tired of dealing with dealers that want to steal it and i would just as soon let the general public have it. Ina small town i lived in we used to have a blocl yard sale ( 2miles by 2 miles) there was usually about 10-15 homes doing it and we were busy all day for 2 days. Enjoyed it and made money too. My husband and son were auction junkies. Brought home everything under the sun and then i had to get rid of it.

I love going to garage sales too.  I'm always in the market for books as my husband and I are both avid readers.  I enjoy having garage sales myself too.  I used to have one in the spring and one in the fall but have not been able to for the last year or so since I keep 3 of my grandchildren so their parents can work.  I do plan to have one when school is out for the summer because I do have a 10 year old grandson who can help with the 1 year old while I do the garage sale.  I've definitely baby-proofed my kitchen and den so keeping the baby in this area would be no problem for the 10 yr old and I would just be outside the back door if he needed me.  I've been randomly going thru closets and dressers and kitchen cabinets and boxing things up I don't need or want anymore in prep for the garage sale.  I usually make $200-$300 and that gives me some cash for my fall vacation with my sister.

We had our first one a while ago and I think if my mom hadn't donated half the toys we had we would have made an easy hundred. Instead we came away with about 70$ and we have a bunch of space extra in our basement now. A win-win for everyone! I love shopping at them too. I love seeing other peoples stuff..

I think that garage sales can be an excellent source of additional income both from the buying end of things and the selling side.  I see dozens of pickup trucks and vans pile into our neighborhood every Saturday morning and people loading up on all kinds of junk.  I spoke to a lady that holds a rummage sale once a month and asked her how she accumulates so much garbage.  She said that she goes to other neighborhoods, buys things cheaper and than sells them in our neighborhood or gets a receipt from Good will if something doesn't sell in three months.  She said that this covers twenty percent of her mortgage!

Love yard sales and flea markets. It is such a great thing to do on a summer day whether I'm the buyer or seller. Planning a map and going around for a day of yard sales is such a fun thing to do either by myself or with someone else who enjoys just kicking around. I have lived in several areas that have had great flea markets as well. Another really fun way to spend a weekend day. One of the greatest thing about having your own yard sale is that the house gets a good clearing out and the wallet gets thicker!

I think that is great! Sidewalk sales are fun and it's great to meet all those people! I like finding those unusual items that no one else has and making my home more interesting with them. It would be great to organize a neighborhood sale where everyone  had sales at the same time. Just a thought, it would be like a huge flea market.

Wow, that is great.  The most I've ever made at a yard sale was around $20.  ...then again I lived in a very rural area the last time I had a yard sale.

I love yard sales!   I use to go all the time but the past few years I have been way too busy.  I did have a little sale one weekend and just put out a few things and made about $75.  Not bad for sitting in the sun for about an hour or two !!

I am having a garage sale this next weekend.
It's a lot of work getting it set up and ready, but worth the extra money and decluttering.
I've also been selling on our community swap site, like a local Craig's List for our town.
It's been great!

:P I so need to have a yard sale.  Sounds like yours was very lucrative.  I have tons of yard sale stuff cause my husband and I were packrats I guess and his parents passed away and we took too much junk home and my mom passed away last May and I am still trying to clean her house out.  I am lazy though and not a morning person and I guess its best to start yard sales early.  I am happy for your succ :thumbsup:ess.
