Title: FC contest suggestion
Post by: falcon9 on May 18, 2012, 05:27:27 pm
FC contest suggestion:

Participants guess who will reach the newly-inaugurated Platinum posting level, (@ 4,000 posts), and when.  Pays whatever Kohler/Admin deems appropriate for such a contest.   :-X

Great idea!  My prediction would be that falcon9 reaches that on 5/20/2012!

*chuckle*  Wouldn't I need about 80 posts per day to make that deadline though?  FC stats show an average of about 7 posts per/day so, that should be around June 20th, (23 days from now).  By now however, you're probably aware that "average" doesn't accurately place me on a bell-curve.   :-X

You only average 7 posts per day...seriously??  That doesn't seem accurate, you reached so many posts so fast...only 7 per day?   :dontknow:

Less than 7 according to FC:
"falcon9 summary - Posts: 3840 (6.882 per day)"

This would be an average, spread out over the total period of time posting to the forums, (which I didn't begin doing until 2011).

Great idea!  My prediction would be that falcon9 reaches that on 5/20/2012!

My predictions are .........  *

"falcon9" - goes Platinum on 06/06/12 at 6PM PST
"old buddy" - goes Platinum on 12/12/12 at 12PM PST

*- addendum for Kohler: limit the number of guesses in the 'pool' and no duplicates (first to guess a date & time locks that slot out), Kohler decides what bonus amount the closest guesser gets?

6/6 @ 6 pm eh?   If you're going to take THAT long...someone else just may beat you to it... :)

That 'unofficial' guess was made because of the numerical (in)significance alone since such a contest is still unofficial.  However, look at how many posts are needed to hit 4,000 now ... isn't my nearest competition over 500 away from that mark?

Well, if you only plan to average 7 posts a day...if I have any "free time" coming up this week, I might 'catch up'.  Who knows?   :dontknow:
(You can relax...I have two classes to attend for work and training until the end of the month still.  FC is helping me cope with the "anxiety".  I could never find the time to do that many posts right now.)  Good Luck though and hopefully Admin loves the contest idea!!

No that's just the average spread-out since the time I began posting, (actually @ 6.977 per day but, close enough).

While the upcoming "Post Mania" contest will no doubt boost participants posting stats considerably, that hasn't begun as yet and I may have built-up a substantial lead just by making 'normal' posts, (possibly 'abnormal' ones, depending upon who is judging them).

Good Luck though and hopefully Admin loves the contest idea!!

Thanks, "Sheryls" - so far, Admin hasn't commented on the contest suggestion but, it might still happen.  Even if it doesn't, maybe Admin will soon consider instituting a "Diamond" level or some such.  :-X

"While the upcoming "Post Mania" contest will no doubt boos[t] participants posting stats considerably,"

Posts in those forums do not count as to not skew such posting stats.

I see, thank you for the clarification.  What about the other contest suggestion?

'FC contest suggestion:

Being the 'first to Platinum' has been an uneventful event so far today however, no doubt I'll be lavished with gifts, women and liquor as the festivities ensue.   :o

Well, someone did notice ... thanks, Sheryls ... haven't seen that many IMG urls in one place since first doing a search concerning our cats and had a whole bunch of *bleep* links fill the screen instead. [speaking of which, that picture of the gals on the couch isn't of anyone you know, is it?] :o  :-X  :bootyshake:

First of all, I'd like to thank FC [for acknowledging that I'm such a yakky fellow] and of course, off my fans, anti-fans, groupies, anti-groupies, christers, anti-christers(?) for this [somewhat dubious] honor. Such an [unpaid and largely gratuitous] achievement [right up there with bungy-jumping naked in a blizzard] cannot be understated [sure it can!].  For those who are to follow [obviously slackers], I'd like to welcome you in advance to the Platinum [looks a bit like tin, or maybe aluminum, doesn't it?], membership level newly established by FC, [what's next for the ones who yammer a lot, Diamond level?], in order to commemorate the [sometimes "brash"] accomplishment [still no bonus for it though- drats].

Those gals on the couch... are from my church group.
(nah, I'm "kidding"!!;)), they just looked like they were ready to 'par-tay' with you.  :)

Loved your 'acceptance speech', it's "classic" platinum!! ;D  (http://dl5.glitter-graphics.net/pub/2542/2542415nydmz30jwu.gif) (http://www.glitter-graphics.com)

One would imagine that were I actually "seeking attention" as one member claimed, I'd probably wouldn't have parodied myself in such a way, (or maybe I would ... I'm not a professional comedian), and been 'miffed'.  I can't really pull off "miffed' and must resort to dubiously humorous attempts instead.  :P

Maybe I should request that FC bonus, (for being the first to Platinum), again unless one other FC member notices it without prompting?  *chuckle*

Nah not a professional comedian, and if those girls wanted to join my prayer group...they'd certainly be welcome.  (Although they might not be a "big hit" with other members there, my defense would be they belong there...one can see they need ALOT of prayer.)  :o

ADMIN:
FC forum posts don't stay on FC, they show up when people use search engines to find related material.  If a member posts a multitude of quality posts on FC, it's to FC's benefit because it does get them new members without having to pay the poster any referral reward.  IMO, it would be a fantastic idea if FC acknowledged members that have achieved certain levels (counting quality posts only) with a little extra monetary compensation showing they appreciate the members hard work and time spent in posting. (ps: Falcon9 has achieved Platinum level ALREADY!!)  ;)  :peace:

Doubtless that's apparently true however, I'm not sure that'd be a fair test of the alleged 'effectiveness of prayer' in their instance.  It certainly wouldn't be fair to "pray" that those girls find guys with seeing-eye dogs and sunglasses, for instance.   8)

Thanks for the support, Sheryls however, (depending upon the search terms used), reference links back to FC may or may not justify an extra posting bonus - especially if one includes their referral link, (which is authorized by FC in regards to non-members reading the FC forums and, by extension, to non-members using certain search parameters and stumbling upon FC).

I would imagine that that is more then covered by the $3 a month for posting in the forum 30 quality times.. I mean FC pays that $3 times X ammount of members who are doing it each month which equates to hundreds, maybe even thousands, of dollars that FC is paying out EACH month for our posting in the forum.

Let's see ... nine stars for Platinum level and I'd bet if Admin is considering another posting level, they contemplate bumping the posts required to something in the 10,000 posts range, (that way, it'd presumably take years, even for 'prolific' posters).  Not sure but, that's what I consider doing.   :-X

I haven't looked at that 'stat', (yet), however, I did just notice something else which is 'strange'/"funny".  Wouldn't the number of views be lower than they apparently are if so many were 'ignoring' my posts as recommended?  It's almost as if encouraging some people not to look has the opposite effect in some instances.  Doubtless some of the more suspicious ones may believe that such recommendations were intended to have that effect however, I'm pretty sure that wasn't Kohler's intention, (as an extrapolation of his posts), and I can only assert that it wasn't mine either, (unless the more suspicious want to grant me a degree of 'Machevialianism' as a backhanded compliment?).

Members cannot add those particular stars since they are FC's indicators of membership posting levels.  Newbies= one star, Full member and so on, depending upon the number of posts made.  Unfortunately, posting levels don't pay anything extra beyond the same forum bonus any newbie or other member can obtain.

how do you get platnum level?? congrats to you

That was done by reaching 4,000 posts.  Reaching 4,000 posts was done by yammering.  A lot.  And by making a few thousand contributory posts.
