L.A is a tough place for anyone who likes to fish. The only thing fish that's really abundant is the sand dab.

This is going to be my first year at attempting to take my kids fishing - we've got the basic kids' poles and the kits that come with them, along with the lifejackets for the kids, but I have only a very small clue of what we are doing! I think we'll keep it easy this year with bobbers and bluegill, then see what happens! LOL.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

:wave:I love to fish..when it's warm enough, I keep my tackle in my jeep, with my metal detector, and gold panning stuff, and just drive to a good spot and enjoy myself.

I have always loved fishing and I still love it today.  As a matter of fact I use to be a licenced fresh water fisherman but haven't renewed.  LOL  However since I live in a State that is Proud to call it's self The Ocean State (rhode Island) I go fishing quite often when the weather is warm enough.

Just moved from the high desert to the Ohio River valley.  Honey bought me a new fishing pole - it's not pink so he maybe thinking of using it too - and a bunch of lures so, I guess I'm a goin' fishin' and my baby's goin' fishin' too!

I understand what you mean about the high desert states.  There is water there but it is a little hard to find.  In New Mexico, try down around Santa Rosa on old route 66.  We used to scuba dive there.  The first time we drove down there I told my husband we'd been lied to...there's now water here! but, there are. Lots of lakes there and it's a pretty cheap place to vacation. Just watch out for those spring time blizzards and don't forget the SPF 30 sunscreen.  The sun will eat you up!  We just moved from CO after 35 years to OH and are now just a mile from the river. Can't wait for the fishin'
