Does anybody get these annoying telemarketers calling your home and cell number? I have bot numbers on the do not call list, and updated it but still get the calls. Grrrrrrr
-
I use to when I had a home phone non stop at all hours the do not call list is a joke but I only have a cell now I give that # to no one so far for 4 years no unwanted calls
-
Yes and it's just getting worse all the time. They can spoof the incoming number so easily, and so many different ways, you can never get ahead of them.
Our phone (the phone itself) has call blocking on it, so that's a good thing UNLESS they spoof a different number each time they call. The phone can only block 30 numbers.
I always google the numbers from the caller ID. I like to see how many people may be getting the same call, and I also sometimes DO find out some info on who it ACTUALLY is (some of which is useful).
Here is a funny thing to do with telemarketer calls (I read this somewhere one time, can't recall where, and it doesn't matter anyway) but this ONLY works if someone is actually THERE on the other end when you pick up:
*You answer the phone and they'll ask for "Mr/Ms xxxxxx", and you tell them "Yes, hold on a minute I'll go get
him/her".
*Put the phone down, come back in a minute, and pick it up and ask "Hasn't he/she answered yet?"
*Of course, they'll say "No" and then you tell them "Please hold on again, I'll see what's taking so long", and
put the phone down again.
*Then I usually yell like I'm actually yelling for someone to get the phone.
*Then go back and pick it up again and ask "He/she STILL hasn't answered yet?"
*Of course, "No" again, then you tell them "I'm so sorry - please hold on, I can't believe he/she hasn't picked
up yet", and put the phone down again, and etc., etc.
And I just keep them going as long as I can.
Basically just relieves the frustration!

Telemarketing is a double edged sword. On one hand, telemarketers are just trying to make a living like the rest of us, on the other hand, they annoy the heck out of us.
What happened to the days when we wanted something, we went looking for ourselve?
And yes, the no call list is a joke and blocking the caller doesn't help because they simply call from another number.
This is called Progress?? :-

Oh yea, they call over and over and over no matter how many times I tell them to take me off the their list. Its just a game to them. Especially a place that calls it self educational services. They laugh at my being annoyed with them. They get kicks out of harrassing people.
-
I'm not a lawyer, but as far as I understand it, the Do-Not-Call list applies just to unsolicited telemarketing. If you've ever given your phone number to a company (online or offline) you may have also given them permission to call you and/or share your number with third parties.
All of that said, FC uses phone numbers only for verification. We don't call or sell/rent/share your telephone number.

I'm not the least bit annoyed when I get telemarketers calling, because they are PRIME prospects for making money online. They have a desperate job they usually hate (just ask them) and would love to pick up some extra cash without getting screamed at or called names. Just set up a blog with an easy to spell domain name and send them there.

I was a telemarketer at some point and use to hate making those cold calls but it was job and I needed to have those funds to survive. I dont get mad at them when they call I just have my caller id with call block if you dont show number and my trusty answering service. Most of time I do answer and I get calls from bill collectors looking for some one name Rachel and Jose. I keep telling them they dont live here. Plus I poke at them a lil and start asking them questions cause me being of field once I know most of them are going by a script. In all its a job and pays so I give them a break by just hanging up after I said No thank you and enjoy your day.

:BangHead: Yes I do or rather did until I had my home phone cut off a few days ago to save money. It was worth it to get rid of telemarketers. I try to understand they are just out there trying to make a buck too but it is still aggravating. :cat:

The telemarketing industry has changed a lot. You now need all kinds of licenses to work a minimum wage job. So high school and college students have to jump through hoops for income. And the places that hire them have a hard time finding people to work for them, Even in these difficult economic times. Just so you know the don't call list also does not apply to non-profits, even though they will take you off their list if you are no rude to them. If you play with them, lol, they may just put you in for another call, lol!
I also love tele-marketer because I "HAD" a business and will have again. When a tele-marketers called I would tell them they were underpaid. I would say you have my number call me back at another time, and I will show you how to make some real money with your communication skills. Since I have taken people who can't even pick the phone up ( lol sales joke, it becomes to heavy), working with them would be no problem.

when a telemarketer calls tell them to hang on one moment then simple put the phone down and make him/her wait. this costs their employer money. they dont like it :BangHead:

I am torn two ways about telemarketers. They annoy the living water out of me, but I do understand that they have to make a living, too. Also, I'm sure that the turnover rate in an outbound call center is astronomical. It isn't a job I would want to do, fer shure. Yes--annoying, but I'm sure they get dumped on enough anyway. They could probably use a little love--or a little less abuse, at least.

What they could really use is someone to tell them how to make extra money so they might get out of that dead-end job some day. Any volunteers?

Yes, get them all the time. Very annoying. I usually do not answer the phone if its from a toll free number.

That would be an attempted murder, (or at least assault).

Everyone that is aggravated with telemarketers go online and place your phone number on the National do not call list and if they call after you have done that the company can be fined $11000 per offence.

I have filed complaints and now get very few if any telemarketers. Also, tell them or bill collectors to hold on a moment your are turning on your recorder. Most won't hold on long enough for you to turn it on. So now, I tell them all phone calls to my home are being recorded, what do they have to say to me. Usually they hang up.

I don't like telemarketers

I Still Can NOT Believe This Thread!!! :BangHead:
If the Golden Goose landed in front of you asking to be picked up.
would you kick it in the stomach until it flew away never to be seen again?
TELEMARKETERS are REFERRALS begging to be recruited!
It only takes a minute or two to get them to listen, then send them to your blog.

THANK YOU , oldbuddy!!!!

I get them on both cell and home phones. Sometimes they can be annoying. However, I have not had one that was disrespectful.
