:( >:( Every year it get's worse & worse that I don't want to celebrate Halloween anymore!
The kids coming to my door don't even have costumes on & it's mostly the older teens that come with no costumes.
Ask them the meaning of Halloween & you get blank stares!
Once, I asked a kid with no costume on to do a trick if he wanted a treat; He banged his shoulder against my screen door demanding a treat! Luckily, one of his younger siblings got his Dad & was dragged by the hair away from my door!
That was 2 years ago & last year, I hid when the door bell started ringing.
My dumb mom put's a large jacko lantern container by the door so, she wouldn't have to give candy out. It wasn't even an hour & the candies was gone including the jacko lantern container. ::) Mom's just too trusting, she get's conned very easily. LOL!
If you were in my shoes w/this issue what would you do? :BangHead:

I've never handed out candy, don't like to wear costumes, etc. Your story just reinforces that. Our middle schoolers here are obnoxious. Perhaps you could get involved in a church or community party for the kids instead of opening your door.
My mom always had us be quiet on Halloween or we went out. I never got to go trick or treating either. We'd have to wear costumes to school and have a parade, then we'd have a party with cupcakes. Mom had no imagination and a limited idea of what girls could dress up as so I was always a princess or fairy princess. I wanted to be a house cat or tiger or something cool/fun/different, but she wouldn't hear of it. Sigh. :dontknow:

Hi you aren't alone with what you are feeling.
Change of seasons and the holidays can affect people like this.
1. you might want to visit you primary doctor. vitimin D helps many people lift their mood and there may be other options that are very simple.
2. join a group a hobby you enjoy or something with your church etc get out of the house just 1 time a week to do something new and different
I know you probably want to but the worst but the worst thing to do is sit in the house
Even going for a walk for 20 minutes can make a difference
Hope this helps and you feel like your selfsoon
Have a great Day!

This could be fun you should hide in the bushes and scare the turds out of those kids...I can't believe how shady people can be these days it just keeps getting worse. You know they say people don't knock on the door if the light is out or at least that is one of the rules of Halloween... Better luck this year I hope all works out...Oh and maybe you could hand out candy to the little kids for about an hour or those with a costume on this might help as well.

No one is forcing you to participate. Leave the house during that time or put a sign on the door saying "No Candy."

Most people do not go to doors if the porch light is out. It's not meant to be an inconvenience to people. It's optional! If you don't want to participate, then don't! Leave your front lights off, Cozy up and watch a movie with the lights out to enjoy your time. If someone knocks, ignore it. It's your house and your door, so it's your choice.
