Do you do any special holiday baking? do you give baked goods as gifts?
-
I am so behind on my holiday baking this year! Usually, I try to bake cookies around Thanksgiving and freeze them until Christmas. I also make a lot of Chex mix. Last year, I bought fancy plastic baggies to give away my cookies and mix in. Maybe I will be more motivated tomorrow!

My wife started baking a couple of weeks ago. Seems like she finds a few different things to bake
every week! I get a small sample then she stores them away until the week of X-mas!

I have not baked anything yet this year. My list of things to bake keeps getting longer.
-
I hold an annual cookie baking party at my house each year. I invite friends and co-workers to stop by whenever to help with the baking and decorating, then they can take home whatever they want. It makes for a fun party this time of year.

I make some treats during the season but not much more than usual. I have in the past few years made jerky for my father and father in law. They have really liked it and it has been an interesting project for me and my husband. I don't think we will do it this year though as we have some better gifts for them this year.

havent started my baking yet but fixin to get started

I too have fallen behind on holiday baking. However since we've changed our eating habits I don't imagine that's a bad thing. My daughter is wishing to do some holiday baking so she can give treats away as gifts. I predict I'll be helping her. One year instead of doing cookies I made cheesecakes. With all the cookies at cookie exchanges, holiday parties and family get together's everyone really appreciated the variety. I think I'll make at least one this year.

We don't give away baked goods as gifts (only chocolates), but we do bake carrot cake and sweet potato pie for the X-mas holiday.

I do alot of baking and goodie making this time of year and give goodie bags to friends. I usually make banana bread, fudge, mint fudge, peanut butter/milk chocolate fudge, ritz cracker/peanut butter sandwiches dipped in milk chocolate, puppy chow and crispix mix. Then for our dinner I make chocolate lasagna, caramel pecan cheesecake, cherry cheesecake and pumpkin pie.
Today I have gotten 2 batches of fudge done, 2 batches of puppy chow and a batch of crispix mix. Getting ready to make the ritz cracker/peanut butter treats.

I've already baked some mini loaves of cranberry bread. I'll be baking some more to ship to my mom and give as another treat. I might bake cookies this year. I usually do but things have been a little hectic so I'll have to see.

About the only thing we do is some cut out cookies for the kids to ice and decorate. They usually get tired of it after awhile and I end up having to finish everything. Oh well it is all yummy!

In the past couple of years I have started making a signature Chocolate Mousse Pie for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and making what I call Mock Toffee using saltines, butter, brown sugar and chocolate chips. Sometimes I will add other cookies or bars.

I have started on mine also, I will leave a small amount out for hubby to snack on and the rest go up in the freezer or whereever until i get them all done and ready to go. I enjoy baking for gifts.

How in the world do you manage all that? :notworthy:
