I think it is pretty scary given the fact that there are only 2 courses of treatment. That being said however, the media loves to sensationalize everything. I think it is a serious disease, I do not however think that it will become a widespread epidemic like the media wants us to believe.

i think that everyone is panicing....

i think its a bad flu-disease, but dont think its as bad as they are making it out to be. i understand alot of ppl in mexico are dying from it, but thats where it came from. maybe corenteen the country, idk....

if you get any flu like symptoms, go to doctor just to be on the safe side.

I only first heard about it over the weekend but, now this a.m., they are saying that the most cases are here in n.y.
don't want to panic. i told my kids before they left for school to wash hands and not to touch their faces. If it is in their school, i will panic and homeschool them until its cleared. did you see mexico city on the news? its like a ghost town - everything is shut right down.

This swine flu epidemic is a cause for concern, because so far 152 have died, not sure if its all from swine flu but still a concern.  My question is:If the swine flu is so rampant why are allowing people to travel  to Mexico for vacation then allowed to come back home to spread this disease?  I heard this stupid woman on the news say she is only visiting for a week then coming back home and she is not worried.  People like her  should be quarrantined.

Thanks for answering.  I read up some on it and it does seems like a serious version of the flu, but, it is any worse than others that have occured in the past couple of years?  I caught a flu bug last fall from one of the lovely children and ended up really, really ill but my husband only got a 24 hour thing from it that wasn't too serious.  Of course, Mexico City is huge and densely populated with major poverty and so maybe lacks the means to fight the spread of disease.  Sometimes i think media just winds us up to see if we will dance. But I won't be flying anywhere for a few months just in case. And I think washing hands, not touching the eyes and nose helps with anything that spreads.

We are an advanced society and I think the spread of fear versus knowledge is pathetic and wrong.  I understand the flu can be deadly and just like west nile virus it can be fatal, but educationing the public early and often is a better solution then chaos.

The Flu is the Flu it isn't like it is Captain Tripps or anything. Fact is flu has always traveled fast, the deaths in Mexico may be related to the poor nutrition and hence compromised immune systems. The press is excited because it is out of season and most pharma companies manufacture such drugs seasonally. No one enjoys being sick and not having some of the medications we usually have access too when we are ill will make it even tougher, although the Fed says it has released a reserve of some of these drugs. It has just been a slow news week the banks are still dragging on, Chrysler and Gm are continuing their sagas, and the big fire near Myrtle Beach is under control. What eles do they have to talk about but a flu, heck I am tired of hearing about the economy. I figure we needed a distraction, the only way the media knows how to distract you is to try and scare the hell out of you.
