Title: local motel of choice
Post by: Gerianne on January 12, 2013, 07:39:25 am
A friend has family visiting her.
When I asked her which motel they were staying at, she said "La Quinta".
Which motel is your choice when you travel?

Holiday Inn. They seem pretty consistent in their quality.

I don't have a personal choice.  I look for one that has the best price.  I also look at reviews online of previous guests.  It has to be clean and the staff not be rude but very helpful.

It really depends on where I am traveling.  For the most part in the small towns of the western United States sometimes the best and only motel is a Best Western if you are lucky.  And I will admit that you get good and bad motels even within larger chains.  One of my worst stays was at a Holiday Inn in Des Moines Iowa and one of my best stays was at a Best Western in Tucumcari, New Mexico.

I have a Marriotts rewards program, but I rely on reviews when looking for a place to stay within a vicinity. I have experienced too much unpredictability to put too much trust in name branding when staying at places.

La Quinta's were getting pretty run down there for a while but in the last few years they have been building new one and those are nice enough.  I prefer marriot though.

I would have to agree with Marriott hotels, I've had nothing but good things coming from them. They seem to have different locations with different pricing levels, so you can choose the one that is more affordable to you. They also own different brands that also have different pricing levels. As in Toyota, they have affordable cars, mid pricing, and luxury cars. Marriott has, from higher end to lower end, including but not limited to: Marriott and JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn.
