I am a secret shopper, one of the things I have been shopping lately is washer and dryers.  If I was buying a washer and or dryer right now, I would definitely go for the front loaders.  They do (Usually!) bigger loads  and there is less wear and tear on the clothes without the agitator in the middle of the machine.  Samsung is a good model, maytag and GE,  but just check the features and see what you would use or need.

get one that will fit your pocket book. if money is not a question then get something that will leave with some spending money. At the end of the day it just washes clothes. If you need something done delicately, then send it to the cleaners.

I have a top loader. Its a Roper brand which is part of Maytag. I have had it for ten years now. When I bought it I got it cheaper because it has the name Roper on it. This is what the salesmen told me. I only paid about 430.00 for it. So I have gotten my moneys worth out of it.

Check around for sales. I do like the front loaders, without the agitator. I will probably buy that next

I'm a big fan of front loaders, even though I don't have one right now (my family has the last washer and dryer set I bought. Long story.). Super energy efficient and cleaned great. The real trick with them is you have to leave the door open when not in use otherwise they mildew. The good news is you just need to leave the door cracked. Save the core from a toilet paper roll and pop it into the door when you're done washing, and voila! I saved a chunk of money by buying mine from ebay through a company who buys what's left of last year's models. Huge discount, same great quality, and I still got the 1 year free warranty. Happy shopping!

My top loader washer rips big holes in all of my towels and sheets.  If you want, I can wash your clothes for you!

We have a top loader with no agitator. I love ours! With three kids, I am constantly finding a random sock or something as I go to add to the load, so there's no way I could have a front loader.

After having a top loader for years, I switched to front loader. I love it.

yep make sure you leave that front door open on the washer to get the musty smell out of your washer and clothes.

In my apartment building, our washing machines get a LOT of use. - a lot of "wear and tear".
Maintenance has bought GE,Kenmore, Whirlpool, etc.
Recently, they bought a new washer that is push button on the second floor.
I don't know what brand it is. I have heard it is user friendly! [unlike the "dial" washing machines]
We have eight washing machines in the building.
This should be the style that will last. hopefully....then, maintenance won't have to buy them as OFTEN.

I agree, get one to fit your pocketbook. We bought a used top loader for $25 off craigs list - love it!
