I am not a superstitious person, but i am really curious about all the differant ones around.
-
Not at all. If a ghost or something materialized in front of me I would be thinking "There has to be a scientific explanation for this.".
-
I've seen unnatural things happen. I believe in Karma. Does that count? lol
-
I'm not that superstitious. I do believe that there's things around that you can't explain, like other worldly beings. Are they ghosts? Not sure, but I don't doubt that they are all around us.
-
Not Really but my mom is a heavy believer says things like
Dont Whistle in the house you will have bad luck.
-
The vast majority of people in the world are superstitious beyond reason.
-
i knock on wood. even if it's not real, i mean... maybe it is maybe it isn't... knock on wood... it's not big deal!
-
Do you know where "knocking on wood" comes from? It's kind of funny.
It is commonly thought that knocking on wood has been a superstitious action to ward off evil throughout history involving Pagan belief systems.Tradition has it that little evil people, or sometimes spirits, lived in the trees and were angry when they were cut down and made into furniture. If the spirit heard you make a comment such as " I hope it doesn't rain", they would make it happen out of revenge. Knocking on wood let the spirits know you were aware of them and was a threat not to interfere.

i beleive in karma, i beleive what you put out there will come back to you in some way shape or form,
-
If the salt is spilled I throw some over my left shoulder, I am afraid to break mirrors, I wish on 11:11, I do knock on wood when I say it but evidently it does the opposite, and I believe in Karma.
-
I believe if you put good into the universe you will get good back, same as if you do bad things, you will get bad things back.
-
I believe in spirits. However I do not think they are bad. Although I'm sure some are just as people can be both good and bad. I believe they are always around us, however they may not always be aware of us just as we are not always aware of them. I believe they are people who have passed on as well as people who have not yet come. I have met several spirits and I knew who all of them were. Most were family, one was my daughter before she was born one was my grandpa who died when my mother was young. There have been others but I think these people are sent to us to help us. Life doesn't end when we die nor does it begin when we are born. If it did how would I know it was my grandpa, who I have never met in this life...I had to have known him in a previous life.

No, I am not really superstitious but I do believe there is something in this world that is better, bigger, more powerful, soulful, spiritual than mere humans.

I am not religious, but I believe that GOD, The ONE who was and is the creator of Nature itself. The one who existed before Nature and everything else in this existence. Anyone else agree?

I don't know what I beleive, but when my palm itches I hope that i am comming into some cash.

I think if my cats could figure out how to get cat food delivered to the house, I'd be mysteriously smothered, covered in cat fur, in the middle of the night.
-
I believe in Karma .. treat peeps the same way that u expect to be treated.. if u treat peeps like crap all the time one day someone will definetly *bleep* on u!!

Hummm I got a very interesting story for this one. It was a Friday night and I was hard at work at the Red Lobster. Well that night it seems we didn't prepair enough food during the day to last the night so we basicaly ran out of every thing and had to make every thing freshas the orders were coming in. Well back then I was working a position called Back up so that maent I was responcible to make sure that we didn't run out of any thing. Night night there was so much stress the my lung popped. Oh and by the way did I mention yet that it was Friday the 13th.
So any how when I finaly got out of the Hospital it was the 1st of April. Incase you have forgotten what the 1st of April is it is April Fools Day. So hows that for making some one superstitous?

In other words, deist.
In any case, belief by faith in a supernatural being or force is, by definition, superstition.

This is a very rough definition.

Define superstition.
Superstition (Latin superstitio, literally "standing over"; derived perhaps from standing in awe; used in Latin as an unreasonable or excessive belief in fear or magic, especially foreign or fantastical ideas, and thus came to mean a "cult" in the Roman empire) is a belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge. The word is often used pejoratively to refer to supposedly irrational beliefs of others, and its precise meaning is therefore subjective. It is commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, prophecy and spiritual beings, particularly the irrational belief that future events can be influenced or foretold by specific, unrelated behaviors or occurrences.
This seems like a fairly good one to me.

When I played basketball on a regular, I had alot of superstitions. I had to eat at a certain time, eat certain foods, wear the same socks, wear my hair the same...and many more things on game day. I think superstitions are true to all athletes :)

I am very superstitious. I grew up in a cult atmosphere and I'm just now starting to break out of that way of thinking - since I grew up in it since age four it was everything I knew until I reached 19 and could afford to live on my own. So, LOTS of superstitious ideas. I'm trying to stop though. I don't want to follow in my parents footsteps at all.

Anyone else out there have any superstitions to share?

I'm not superstitious because I put my trust in the Lord.
-
One time when I was little an annoying classmate told me that if you sign your name in red ink that means that you sold your soul to the devil. Even though I knew that was rubbish, I go out my way to find a differant color pen. And I am 34 years old now.

I always knock on wood, throw salt over my sholder, and I hate stepping on cracks which is just crazy. I never could get out of the habbit after grade school. I have heard that the Scottish think that it is bad luck to have shoes on a table. I don't like shoes on a table because it is just gross.
